Just read that Mr Yim Yames will be playing a solo set at Boogie Festival, Easter weekend just outside of Melbourne!!!!!! Thats so fucking exciting!!!!!!
Www.boogie.net.au (http://www.boogie.net.au)
Justin Townes Earl and Dawes are also playing!!!!!!
Exclamation marks!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
Maybe I should start a campaign to get Carl added to the lineup too...
I poked around that festival website. Pretty cool. Sounds like a complete blast. Wish it wasn't 10,000 miles away....
If we didn't already buy tickets for the Byron Bay Bluesfest, we probably would attend this festival, as we both really enjoy Melbourne.
Congrats, Dave! Hope you guys have the BEST time!! :bath:
By rule, I am NOT a camper, but if there was a festival that would get me to it is Boogie. Limeted numbers, only 1 hr from home. Add Yim into the mix and its a given. So nature, here I come!
I guess I need to learn how to put up a tent now.
The first week of April is gonna be awesome. MMJ, Dawes & Yim Yames. Giddy up! :D

You should totally ditch Bluesfest, come to Melbourne and see the Jacket on the Wedensday, visit the sites on Thursday and then come to Boogie on Fri-Mon!
congratulations, ralph! :birthdays:

It's an idea, but unlikely given the cost of the passes. Plus, the wife wants to spend some time up in the Byron Bay area, as she really enjoyed it there last year.
Yim is scheduled for tonight. Playing after Dawes and before JTE. Will only be on stage for 1 hour though. Based on Pats comments that they'll all be hanging at the festival what chance a unannounced Jacket set? Probably very little but it's nice to dream...
Boogie!
Yim in 15 minutes. Right up front...
Oh shit. Possibly the greatest single set of music I have ever seen. I'm actually shaking. STUNNING.
whooaaaa details. any new songs? did he play guitar or bass?

Losin ya head
Masters voice - last. Omnichord guitar looped feedback/headfuck.
Bemuda highway
Wonderful
HOPEFULLY. Oh my god.
Celebrate - 1st. Omnichord
2 new solo record songs? Unless they were covers. But I don't think they were!
-Nobody or Wild Honey? I was straining to see the set list for names. I'm my mind I remember this as the Angel song....
- Time Slips Away?
The Change Your mind - N.M song
It Beats 4U. Guitar loops and omnichord.
Seriously, that was I don't know what...
Staggered...

Awesome! So glad you were there to represent! In December at the Mountain Top Removal benefit at the brown theatre Jim did Wild Honey by the Fruit Bats and Funny How Time Slips Away by Willie Nelson? Could those be the unknown songs? I totally thought they were new at the time I saw them because they seemed like Jim songs and I didn't know them.
Does this seem right:
Tonight I Want To Celebrate
Losin Yo Head
Bermuda Highway
Changing World (Y. Yames/W. Guthrie)
Wild Honey (Fruit Bats)
It Beats 4 U
Funny How Time Slips Away (Willie Nelson)
Wonderful (The Way I Feel)
Hopefully
His Master's Voice
Damn I'm love that solo It Beats 4U.
He also did these in December: (Could he have played any of these?)
The Right Place
I Needed It Most
Look At You
Movin Away
The World Is Falling Down (Abbey Lincoln)
in the interview yesterday he said he doesnt know if he'll play any of his new songs, cause of youtube or something
Definately covers then. Man the first one especially had me convinced it was a Yim song, but there you go...
Jim doing a disco boogie on stage was pretty amusing too.

I just re-read my review. I may have had one too many 'pretzels'! :D Still, it was fucking mind blowing...

Ralph, if your mind was fucked and blown, with or without pretzels, it's a pretty badass night.

Look At You acoustic would be amazing to see.
Im trying to piece the set together. This is as close as I can remember it. Probably still not in order but I'm pretty sure Ive listed every song played.

There were a few more songs on the setlist that were not played, couldn't make out the titles but definitely more songs on the list that he didnt get to.
I didnt take any video as I felt it wasn't the right thing to do being so close. It would have been like shoving the camera in Jim's face.
There was no barrier between the crowd and stage so I was pretty much resting on the stage monitor for the set and could feel the vibrations through it as Jim was playing. Still think it is one of the best sets I've witnessed. I hope that one day I get to see solo Jim again. It was definitely a special moment...
Awesome, thanks man!
Sounds like it was an amazing show!!! I am extremely jealous.
