So was Jim playing an electic bass not plugged in, just being picked up by the microphone in front of it on Revolutionary Mind?  It's an interesting tone.

It was a nice tone that popped.  I've never played a hollow bodied electric bass and I'd imagine it would be possible and though I have nothing to back that up with, I'd venture it was still plugged in.  Hell, I didn't even look at any cords to check so.... :-\

I've got a hollow-body acoustic bass and I play it unplugged.  You can hear it fine...though I would never describe it as loud.   I'm not sure if Jim was plugged in or maybe mic'd somewhere.  Doubt his vocal mic could pick up anything worthwhile, but I could be very, very wrong.

The Amoeba stream did happen.  I watched it for about 30 min then it froze up right at the end of Old LA and never unfroze.  It almost seemed like they were ending on that song, but Jim had brought some crazy sitar-like instrument onstage with him that I don't think he had played yet, so maybe there was more.

Really enjoyed it and hearing the songs a bit more stripped down.  I don't know yet if the actual shows are more electric.  I at least hope that the proper shows are still just the four of them.

Very excited for The Birchmere show on Monday.

Amoeba and KCRW both archive all of their live shows. I was front center with Ms Yvon and Ru-day. I got good video of the first and last song, which was Old L.A. I got great photos of each guy and some combos, will take a while to upload. At the very beginning, Jim smiles, nods, and waved to Ms. Yvon, who BTW not only has great taste in music, but is a huge baseball fan.  :D Anders Parker is one great talent. He and Jim COMPLETELY upstaged Will and Jay at the Mayan show last night.

Wonderful, with an ending where he just exhibited his vocal skill, not dissimilar to what a dog does when they howl, or seem to be trying to talk. I am not diminishing this at all, just don't know any other way to describe it. It was beautiful. As American Dad says, "I hear the voice of an angel."

Just kidding ;) I don't know about you guys, but the elbow shirts are magical to me...I hope he never buys a new shirt again. As long as he isn't smelly. Can anyone confirm or deny his smelliness? I bet he smells like angel whispers and hippie love mixed with wild sex appeal. I'm totally guessing.

I can completely confirm and prove that he is an attractive man based on the fact that I don't like any of his music, nor his personal ethics. I am specifically on this forum to indulge in the delight of the senses that are his manly good looks.  ::) I think it's safe to say that I am not the only one...am I right?! (cue crickets)

FWIW, he did in fact have the wholly/holy elbowless black shirt on in Seattle.  And when I met him outside before the show I can confirm that his odor was not offensive.  He smelled just like butterfly wings, rainbows, and cinnamon mixed with sweetpickles.

Rincon: for many women (though certainly not all) attractiveness of a man is not found in his mirror. Remember, it's not the way that he looks, the words he says or the band....

I love you. You can be immature anytime you want to around me.

Also, rincon, it's the eyes, the voice, the hair, the artistry, and the sense of humor. And even his lack of care about his clothing just makes women want to take care of him. Plus, have I mentioned that I really have this strange urge to pet the man?

It's like you crazy people can read my thoughts. I knew he smelled like butterfly wings, and sweet pickles, but I guess I just imagined hints of centaur and unicorn... I bet his hair is like a soft pillow of luxury...and have you seen that butt? Girlz it makes me wanna Schoop. And I too have a weird urge to pick things off of him like a monkey. Is that just me? I wonder if there is an artist somewhere who paints with magical brushes woven of the beard hair of one wizardly Yim Yames. I think that MMJ would get great press if they just offered the opportunity to watch him eat breakfast or brush his teeth. I bet it's pretty cute. I bet he eats breakfast like Pee-Wee.

Mine was sort of a rhetorical post. I just wanted a woman's elaboration, and as a straight male I get it. He is basically a normal looking dude, he just knows how to transcend that.

Mine was sort of a rhetorical post. I just wanted a woman's elaboration, and as a straight male I get it. He is basically a normal looking dude, he just knows how to transcend that.

But thanks anyway for letting us get all fangirl on you. I must say that we do a pretty good job of not being all gushy about this all the time. And for most of us, it isn't the only reason that we love this band. I can't speak for everybody, but that is really a very small part of what brings me here so often and to MMJ's music.

I totally agree with what everyone is saying...I like to play around because it is so easy, of course, to love Jim, but it is equally easy to love all the boys...their hearts, their spirits, their music, their insight...each individual member has taught me something very valuable about music, art and life...and I think that's why you just feel like you know and love them...because they make you feel like you're not just a fan, but rather, a valuable and vital part of an interconnected process of experience.  Plus, I dare you to find a better looking group of fellers anywhere. I will personally poop in your Cocoa Puffs if you disagree with me.  :bath:   :dankk2:
