Ok, let's try this again. If there are enough people needing transport, I'll look into it.
There are two parts.
1. Flying in for the Port Chester Shows
If you're flying in for the Port Chester shows and need transport to get to Port Chester, please add your flight information here. Include the date and time of arrival, which airport you will be arriving at (e.g., Newark, LaGuadia, JFK), which hotel you will be staying in the Port Chester area, and how many people in your party.
For example:
Mr. Potato Head - arriving in LaGuadia at 2:00 PM on Thursday, Dec. 27. Staying at Courtyard Marriott in Rye, NY. Need transport for 2.
2. Need Transport from Port Chester to Boston
Add information here if you need a ride from Port Chester to Boston. List the number of people in your party and which hotel you'll be staying at in Boston. Likely looking at transport for December 30.
For example:
Barbie - Need transport for 2 people. Staying at the Boston Brookline Courtyard Marriott.
1. Flying in for the Port Chester Shows
- Northern Neighbour - 4 people. Flying into LaGuardia on Thursday, Dec. 27. Time TBD. Staying at the Rye Courtyard Marriott.
- e-wind: arrive at laguardia at 11. Thinking about just taking a trains.
- Fully - flying into Newark on December 27th around 11:45. scosby2 will be with me.
- SaraBanana - will be in NYC on the 27th, need some help going from there. Planning on hunting down Fully and scosby2, so agree with Fully on this one.
2. Need Transport from Port Chester to Boston
- Northern Neighbour - 2 or 4 people. Staying ath the Boston Brookline Courtyard Marriott.
- e-wind - need transport for 2, but I was thinking we would take the mega bus?
- MrWhippy - 2 People, staying at the Boston Brookline Courtyard Marriott.
- SaraBanana - 1 please

1. Flying in for the Port Chester Shows
We likely will be flying in to LaGuadia with our 2 friends. Haven't booked our flights yet, but will soon. We'll likely try to book our flights around the times people are arriving.
2. Need Transport from Port Chester to Boston
Need transport for at least 2, maybe 4, people. Staying at the Boston Brookline Courtyard Marriott.

E, you would likely have to take a cab to Penn or Grand Central station and then to Port Chester. Then you'll need to take a cab from the train station to the hotel. If times work out, might be cheaper and easier to get a bus or van to take people from the airport directly to the hotel.
Ditto with going from PC to Boston.
1) Flying in for the Port Chester Shows
Flying into Newark on December 27th around 11:45. scosby2 will be with me. We both need transportation. There is a train from the Newark airport that can take us into Manhattan, but we've got to figure out what to do then. If we can get cheaper transportation as a group, count us in. Staying at the Marriot in Rye.
2) Need transportation from PC to Boston
I don't. I'll let scosby2 answer that one for himself.
We haven't figured out any of our transport details yet, but here is what I think might be relevant to this thread (possibly sharing transport from PC to Boston and back).
2. Need Transport from Port Chester to Boston
2 People, staying at the Boston Brookline Courtyard Marriott.

e, and anyone else flying in then taking a train up to PC: i found this van service that will take you from JFK or La Guardia to Penn station or Grand Central. you can buy tix in advance without making a reservation for a particular time. i'm using it:

2. Need Transport from Port Chester to Boston
Just me. 1. Courtyard Boston Brookline.
For those in NYC going to the Port Chester shows. The easiest way I have found to travel is by Metro North at Grand Central to the Port Chester station that is right next to the venue. 45-50 minutes. I plan on doing that each night since it runs until about 2am. It says $16.50 for round-trip.
yeah but will the metro still be running after the shows?

Yep, thats what I had planned on doing each night
As ms. Y noted, there are shuttles from LGA to Grand Central. I also hear there is a bus that goes to the Harlem-125th Ststation, which is farther up the Metro North New Haven line toward PC. Schedules are down now, but I think I saw a while back that the last train back to NYC leaves after midnight.
Folks might check into flying into Westchester County airport (HPN). I haven't booked yet, but I might be doing that, as I will be on United and it's not too much more expensive. That's a doable cab ride to PC.
I was planning on taking the train from PC to Boston - MTA to Stamford, Amtrak from there. Anybody else thinking of doing that?

yes--me too! looks like that's the best way..
I'm driving up solo from MD on Thurs. headed to the Marriott in Rye (ms GO4IT coming up on Fri) and may be picking up a friend in NYC so may be able to pick up 2 or 3 along the way if you don't mind sitting amongst XC skis and other winter gear.
Another idea would be to rent 1 or 2 mini-vans at LaGuardia. Or, if people live in Jersey, to rent a mini-van or two and pick some of us up at LaGuardia.
The only thing is that the vans would have to be returned. As such, people will either have to be returning to LaGuardia to fly home or live in the area.
1) Flying in for the Port Chester Shows
I'm gonna be in NYC a couple days before the shows. I think I'll probably just take Metro North as RDist52 suggests, unless a better option comes along - I'm all ears!
2. Need Transport from Port Chester to Boston
Haven't figured this one out yet but maybe I'll take the train with Crispy ;)
ps, just bought my flight like five minutes ago - It's on, mutherfuckers!
http://www.pinmaps.net/map/10886/ewind/mmj-port-chester-and-boston (http://www.pinmaps.net/map/10886/ewind/mmj-port-chester-and-boston) <---- get on it, especially if you're from a different country.
I haven't been able to find anything affordable. The only real option is to rent a van in NYC or NJ, but someone would have to return it back to NY or NJ. That's the most affordable option.
So here's the advice of my friend who works at the MTA (and will be coming to the Thurs show) on options to get from LaGuardia to Port Chester:
1. Cab to Grand Central then Metro-North train to Port Chester
2. Cab to Port Chester
3. M60 bus from LGA to 125th St Metro-North station then train to Port Chester
4. You pick them up.
Hey forum friends, brace yourself, a lot of questions are coming... How to best get from Boston back to NYC on the 1st of January? And again, brace yourself, I don't have a driver's license, so nothing involving me driving a car.

Nice! I will be heading back to NYC on the 1st via bus. I like worldwide, those dudes are nice! Don't have a time frame yet but I'm sure when we all get together we can see what works. I think it's good to reserve but you only need to do it a few days ahead.
Hey everyone.
I am actually starting a new job in NYC on the 27th (figures). I think it would make the most sense for me to take the train from Grand Central up to Port Chester. Since it will be my first day I will need to work until 5pm. My new boss is awesome but I don't see him letting me leave early nor will I ask.
Is anyone else that works in the city working the full day and then taking the train up from Grand Central? Would love a travel buddy but if not I'll be fine by myself. Just checking.
ynwa will then pick me up from the train station and transport over to the venue.
Congratulations on the new job!
Since I'll be staying in the city before heading up to Boston, i'll be taking the train from Grand Central into PC each day, and then taking the train back each night....would certainly love some train buddies to hang with on the trip.
If there are folks who are taking the train from NYC to Boston on the 30th, I'm def down to buddy up with them as well.

Hey there! What time do you think you will be heading up to PC from NYC on Thurs/Fri?
I actually don't have any idea what time I'll be heading up to PC each day.
I have aspirations of getting up there somewhat early so that I can enjoy any pre-show festivities...but who knows
As far as NYC to Boston...does anyone have any idea what the best Boston train station to get into is?
Back Bay is closer to the venue. Let's you out by Copley Sq. where you can pick up the B-line to Agganis. South Station is OK but puts you downtown not where the gig is.

Any thoughts on what time you'll want to leave?
I took a look an the train ride is $71 is you leave before 7am (not likely for me)
After that it runs to $100 plus...
I'd be down for the 12pm express train
I don't think I can do pre 7am. 12 sounds good to me. Do we know how to best get to the hotel?
I believe the T goes from the train station right to Brookline Marriott. Not sure which line. Maybe send an email or call the hotel.
Ok, so I took a look at the metro map
It seems that the back bay stop (amtrak) is a yellow line stop. So when we get off of the amtrak train, we take the yellow line north...we transfer at the downtown crossing stop to the park street station...we then take the cleveland circle green line train west to to the hotel stop....whew...
piece of cake

For PC-check out last train time for PC back to Grand Central--i think it's before midnight..you should be okay cuz the train's so close
for Boston--i thought we were all taking the train together---most trains just go into Boston South Station--you might have to transfer to Back Bay--it's easiest to go to South Station, jump on the green line right to the hotel (or am i missing something?) it should be about 35 min from South Station out to brookline..that's what i'm planning on doing---don't think you want to mess with getting off at Back Bay--easiest to just get right to the green line.

ok...i actually have no idea what I'm doing :cheesy:
someone may have mentioned that getting into back bay was the way to go...but if you're the one from the North East, so I'll go with you...I'm down for going together with everyone up there
Do you, or anyone else have an idea about what train you're looking to catch up there?
For PC, they have trains that leave just before midnight and then there is one that leaves at 12:58am if we can't make the midnight train.
Hey can I be train buddies with you guys!? I'm staying at the Courtyard Rye. I am planning on checking out around noon, taking the MTA to Stamford, then the Amtrack to Back Bay - Boston.
Flying up tomorrow from Atlanta for the last PC show!
I am also looking for company. I stay at the Hilton and can meet up with all of you.
