Title: Good Music Reading - Articles and Essays To Enrich Your Mind
Post by: LeanneP on Nov 20, 2012, 05:02 PM
I read a couple of good articles today in the New Yorker and thought I'd share. I love reading well-written articles about music/bands/movements/genres/etc that aren't necessarily reviews or promotions.

Thought maybe we could share them

Deadhead: The afterlife.

Hanna and Her Sisters: Bikini Kill sparked the riot-grrrl movement. It also made great music.

This month's Oxford American is all about Louisiana music. I'd highly recommend it. I've been reading it since I got home this afternoon, and there is still quite a bit to be devoured. You can purchase it online @ http://oxfordamerican.org (http://oxfordamerican.org) or pick it up a magazine rack. Sorry they don't have it online yet. I imagine that it will be there later. There's an interesting article about Preservation Hall among other good reads.
