Ha!  I think Driveshaft was my favorite part of lost.  I love your avatar as well.  My girlfriend is a libertarian fed agency supervisor.  Needless to say she developed quite a bond with ole Ron Swanson

The Who's "Young Man Blues" is one of the most explosive covers in rock history.

Rog mentions the origins of the Mose Allison song at the beginning of this killer rendition.

Off topic, sorry, but I have too

My girlfriend just finished Lost last night and she was tearing up the entire last episode, and when it finished she just sat there silently for an entire ten minutes just staring at the black screen. She loved it!

This is better than the original in every way. Play it loud.

Appreciate all the "interesting" input, but the topic is not whether the original or a cover version is better, its comparing the different cover versions of a given song, thus my example of comparing three different covers of Eddie Cochran's C'mon Everybody.

Or you could compare MMJs version of Oh Sweet Nuthin' to the Black Crowes' version, although I figure most folks here would prefer MMJ since this is a MMJ fan site, obviously.   I got this idea from thinking about how many of the same covers bands I like do.  The Crowes and MMJ have done a lot of the same ones over the years.

My Morning Jacket - *Oh Sweet Nothing* - Red Rocks (August 4, 2012) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_72tBpFgo_Y#ws)

The Black Crowes - Oh Sweet Nuthin' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lf9-BCix4io#ws)

If some other band besides the Who covered Young Man Blues, you could compare those, such as...Joe Bonamassa "Young Man Blues" Beacon Theatre November 5th 2011 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDNWnN6PrVU#ws) although I don't think anybody can compare to The Who's awesome versions from 1970.

But hey, if you wanna talk about Lost or whatever, go right ahead!

The Foo Fighters do a decent cover of Young Man Blues, in the spirit of The Who's versions from the early '70s. I'm not a big fan of the band, but they jam it out pretty good. Oddly enough, they aren't heavier than The Who 1970, even with better technology and effects pedals. Nothing and I mean nothing can replicate raw power.
