Woah woah did youins' ticket order go through?
yea yak,
they called me and asked if i meant to buy a ticket to nashville...and said if that was so then i was good.
Crikey! I tried through my phone and never could get a purchase option. Wonder if they will have another purchase date like they said in the email they sent out. Sigh cant we go back to the days of an in house mail order ticket system.
im very confident if not you will still be able to get them friday at 10 central thru the cannerys website...they are using ticketweb which is very easy to use...ive always gotten tickets using ticketweb
Yeah, you shouldn't have any problem getting tickets on Friday. I don't think the show will sell out in one day.

Really tempted to try for this show as there is a great deal of shows that week... BRMC, Black Keys and the Black Angels on top of JJ's show... So far I have yet to pull the trigger... :embarrassed:

Yep, I know what you mean. I really want to go to BRMC and the Black Angels myself. I went ahead and bought tickets to Jim's show. The Black Angels are on the weekend - Sunday? - and I am hoping I can do all three.

I've been looking for a reason to visit Nashville and Third Man Records... this would give me plenty of reasons. Just need to figure out the logistics, costs, and if I can get the time off of work, thinking of coming in the 1st and coming back on Monday so I can get all the shows. Gonna have to ponder on this until tomorrow's sale! :undecided:

5/3 The Black Keys w/Flaming Lips
5/4 Charles Bradley
5/5 The Black Angels

This will be my first time coming to Nashville. Would it be inconvenient to stay in the Vanderbilt side of the city? Right now I'm looking at Home2 Suites at 1800 Division St as priceline has a deal for $118. Not looking to rent a car, planning on walking and cabbing it. Staying 5 nights and will be hitting the Cannery twice, the Mercury Lounge once, the Exit/In, and possibly the Bridgestone arena. Not into country music so I don't need to be near the honky-tonks downtown, and I hear Music Row has good mix of music, if I even have time after the shows.
Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know much about the hotels but you are close to everything in that spot.

you're in a great spot. There are no places to listen to music on Music Row, it's all studios and offices, but you're really near Vanderbilt with a lot of bars and clubs. Check out the schedule for The End (which is right across the street from Exit/In) one of the better places for late night music. I saw Jeff the Brotherhood there when they were getting started. http://endnashville.com/ (http://endnashville.com/)

You'll probably want to take a cab to The Cannery/Mercury Lounge - particularly on your way home. You'll be within walking distance to quite a few restaurants.

Any pre-show meet up options here? Or is everyone lining up as early as possible to secure the rail? Not familiar with the venue so I don't have a plan yet. I'm open to anything if anyone has any recommmendations.

The Pour House at 730 8th Avenue S is my recommendation. It's right next to Frugal McDougals. There is a large beer selection and it isn't too far from The Cannery. Although I would still suggest driving. Also, many times there is a $5 parking charge at The Cannery although there is plenty of parking.

Whatever everyone else agrees to I'm cool with. First time in Nashville so everything is new to me.
I know this is off topic... BUT... Anyone familiar with the Stone Fox in West Nashville? I'm thinking of checking out Adam Faucett and Dillon Hodges there Friday after the JJ show. Is it a decent venue worth a cab ride from Downtown Nashville? I'm more than likely going solo so I'm hoping it's not a sit-down only type of venue.
Thanks for any info!!
I'm familiar with it. It's a small bar. They do have tables but there is plenty of standing room. Very hipster crowd. Food is TERRIBLE. It's out a ways. It's in a neighborhood and just looks like a restaurant. The neighborhood is modest but very safe.good beer selection. Really drunk guy at the door taking cover charge let me in free cause I had a hundred and I was older than anyone in the bldg. I could have been his mom.
I repeat, Eat before you go!! If you are staying downtown, I recommend hitting up Robert's Western World on lower Broad. It's open til 2 am. Also try Gerst house beer and and Yazoo brewery beers - local breweries.

Great! Go to Grimey's while you are near Third Man. It's in the vicinity, and while you are in the area, go to 12S neighborhood to eat. Frothy Monkey is a good coffee shop, Burger Up has Awesome Burgers, The Filling Station or 12S Taproom both have an excellent beer selection. Hopefully well meet at The Cannery. I'm in my forties with shoulder length reddish blond/ brown messy curly hair. If I'm around scosby I'll be laughing my head off because he always does that to me. So look for the woman whose laughing so hard that she's crying...
I have one ticket available if anyone wants or needs a single. Just PM me.
If anyone is hitting any other shows outside of Jim James let me know. I got tickets for the following:
5/1 BRMC - Cannery
5/3 Adam Faucett - Stone Fox
5/4 Charles Bradley - Exit/In
5/5 Black Angels - Mercury Lounge
Also thinking of checking out the new Johnny Cash Museum Thursday if anyone is interested...
Looks like you are going to have a fun weekend, Jeff!
Lets hope we can get Bermuda Highway, Hopefully instead of Wonderful, AND the elusive Nashville To Kentucky in the encore tomorrow night!!!

The Cannery hasn't heard anything about it yet. Hopefully we'll get an email tonight from Ground Ctrl. However, the Washington show email didn't go out until mid-day the day of the show.
i have an extra if anyone needs one

Around what time should we try to meet up at the Pour House tomorrow?
I have to take care of something that's come up last minute so I probably won't be there, but I've told people 4:30 or so.
After seeing the BRMC show tonight at the Cannery there really isn't a bad spot in the venue... with exception of standing right behind a beam... Granted this show wasn't sold out. Sound was great, and there were two openers that actually got the crowd warmed up...
I can be at the Pour House at 4:30 no problem... if anyone wants to tour around prior to that let me know.
Looking forward to the show tonight :cheesy:

Initially, it was some MMJ in the encore, then mostly Monsters of Folk. Jim opens the encore with a solo acoustic set of 1-3 songs. I've got all of the setlists so far in this thread:

Not gonna lie, haven't seen him, but I swear I've heard the first lil riff to carried away a couple times coming from inside the door, don't get your hopes up though, it was very faint and it might have just been me wanting to hear it. Saw and said hello to Jim...been a nice hour by myself so far
Heading to the Pour House shortly... looking forward to meeting some of you.
Just high fived Jim at the corner of Cannery Row.

Here we go
So excited for you guys - this is such a special tour - I know you'll all have a cosmic experience and possibly more if Carl shows up.
Let us know how it went down
Great show! I stayed back near the soundboard... Sound was great... downside was that I was in a high traffic area. The venue was packed! The lady beside me had a great idea, we should have charged a beer for each pass they made!! Jim really had the crowd going, they guy on the guitar/techno pads really brings energy to the shows, sorry not up on the band members' names. Once again I was at a Jim James show and a rave broke out during All Is Forgiven! Need to rehydrate my skull... it was hot in there!!
Oh, it was nice that I got the email about early entry at 10:00 PM local time.... Not that I was going to use it, but still!
Next up United Records Pressing tour and Third Man Records...
Hope everyone else had a great time!
Wow. Just an amazing show, exceeded my high expectations.
Glad to meet some of you finally
I just got back from the show. It was good, but I was disappointed about the absence of Nashville To Kentucky. An MMJ show would be excellent to see at the Cannery. A little too hot in there though. I didn't move too much and my back was covered in sweat. I was approximately third row right in front of Jim. It was nice to not have to worry about arriving early enough to get rail. It was also good to see more people there around my age. Most times I'm not sure if I'm at an MMJ show or a class of 1980 reunion .
Great pics Mr. White! It was too cramped for me to even get my camera out of my pocket, so I did not get any.
Mahgeetah34 why do you care who is at the concert? I am typically just there for the music. However, I did notice those same people our age that you speak of chatting the whole time or being too preoccupied with their facebooking. Also, the Cannery is way too small for a My Morning Jacket show. It seemed too small for a Jim James show.
Anyways, to the show. Wow! I do not remember the basement show having as many lengthy extended jams. God's love to deliver is not one of my favorites off the album, but that song is a whole different monster live! The ending was out of this world.
KEVIN RATTERMAN! That guy has so much energy. Glad we were right side of the stage to watch him do his thing. Did anyone catch the Electric effects going on with Jims acoustic on Exploding? Kevin kept playing with the computer and laughing his head off. Figured he was messing with Jim.
I really enjoyed Dave's drumming, especially during his Dear One solo.
My only complaint was during All is Forgiven I think. At one point it seemed like there was too much bass? Felt like I was at an Electronic show and could not hear Jim's Sax.
Bermuda Highway! Always glad to catch that one.
Meh, did not really care for Cold Specks. Would have much rather had Carl again, but I guess it beats Trey Songz.
Overall great show. I can not wait until Bonnaroo!
setlistfm.com is a bit behind, so anyone want to share the setlist? I'm assuming the album in its entirety and in order. What about the encore?
Encore was
Bermuda Highway
Wonderful
Dear god
His Masters Voice
The Right Place
Losin Yo Head
Changing World
This is based off memory, but I think it's right.

It's really interesting to listen as this band gets more comfortable with each other. In the two weeks since Louisville, they've fleshed out these songs. This band is on fire. Had a great time even if the heat ended up getting the best of me. It was great to see so many of you again.

Don't you know this entire board is a class of 1978 reunion. That's how we all started following Jacket. One year we decided to hire a band to play for our 20th reunion. It turned out to be early MMJ and then we all fell in love with the music. We haven't left since. It's nice that young people like you get into the band, but us elderly people still know how to rock even with our canes and motorized scooters. So sorry the band didn't play the song you wanted to hear. Do they ever?
Did anyone see a taper at the show? I would love to get the audio.

There's usually someone at The Cannery. Let's hope one surfaces. I really loved how these songs have developed and expanded.

Disappointed they didn't play Nashville 2 Kentucky? For what logical reason would they have totally gone outside what this whole tour has been about and played that? I've seen MMJ (not JJ) 3 times in Nashville and the only time I've seen N2K was at Port Chester. Maybe SCS was the first tour that you saw MMJ on, but they don't usually switch it up much from night to night
After hearing how hot it was in there, it's probably best I didn't go. I have over-active sweat glands, could have been embarrassing..
great review, Yakeroo---yeah looks like the jams got WAY extendier after the Brooklyn show, too..
Mahgeetah34-perhaps you should have made a sign for NTK, worked for someone in DC..
Mr. White--great pics
anyone spot CARL??
Also want to mention how much Jim has improved the sax solo that he actually plays during the show (not the lip saxing he does during the Know Til Now coda). This was really beautiful and had a great tone to it.

Whoa, you seem to have some crazy idea that music can't/shouldn't be enjoyed by anyone other than your age. However, some of us have have many years, probably way more years than you've been alive, refining our music listening skills. I am offended by your statement, and I don't believe that Jim James or My Morning Jacket would agree with your ideas that they make music for those of you who are junior listeners!

I may be wrong on this but I'm pretty sure Fully was using something known as sarcasm. This forum is full of love... COME ON! (in Gob Bluth impression).
It was great talking to so many Forum-ers. Great hanging front side with DD, Tracy and Mr White. I've been going to Jacket shows since 04 but now that I'm meeting people from all around it makes the experience even more magical and memorable.
I'm a bit surprised there hasn't been more talk of how crazy amazing the Masters Voice version was! My wife got bothered with the heat and the raucous personality of Zack Galifinakis behind her, so she hung out in the "lobby" by the merch table for a while. Met Alaina (bassist)'s friend who told her how the band had been working on changes for the encore. I would say they're definitely hitting their stride and i totally love the redux!
Again, much love to all! Even the annoying youngsters crushing us in attempt to ET phone home with Jim... overstepping they're camera boundaries (complete with non smartphones and disposable cameras)... talking most the time... and constantly checking Facebook.
The insane energy provided by Jim and company overshadowed any possible negative by products.

Also, after I got upset with gnd-ctrl's customer "service" hotline concerning the lack of planning for First Entry which involved not accepting my apparently useless Roll Call membership card (OG status revoked?), I emailed Roll Call and they were AWESOME. When I got to the Will Call window, I saw my name hand written on a note. I said, "that's me too". Had a laminate and lanyard waiting for me.
I apologize and take back all the curses I laid upon Roll Call during my drive to Nashville. Thanks SO MUCH!
(but I still hate that there's no use for my sweet membership card :undecided:)

I was being sarcastic, but crazylove wasn't talking to me. She's talking to Mahgeetah34 who thinks young age is a requirement to enjoy music. What he'll learn one day is that the older you get, the more the music moves you. I feel music so much deeply than I could when I was a kid. Probably because I've had more life experiences to make the beautiful moments so much more appreciated than they were when I was younger. Also, unless one is unlucky, one will age. It is inevitable.
And yes, His Master's Voice is just amazing! I wasn't feeling too well by the end of the show; the heat had got the best of me. However, all I could do was listen in wonderment at how awesome this version of this song is. I really hope a taper was there. I almost always see one, so perhaps one was.

Dumb question but is it the 2011 card?
Also, yes His Master's Voice was amazing. First time seeing it live, one of my favorite Jim songs of all time. Made the show for me.
This is all taken incorrectly. I'm saying that its nice to see younger people at the shows because it seems like only the older fans can appreciate the greatness that is MMJ. While most of the younger crowd are usually accustomed to Lil Wayne and Katy Perry, its cool to see them interested in actual music.
Also, I usually don't get to hear the song I hope for, but I did get to hear Cobra in Alpharetta 2011. As for playing Nashville To Kentucky, it makes more sense to play that IN Nashville rather than New York. Jim wouldn't be straying far from his usual setlist for this tour as he threw in a random cover earlier in the week. Maybe the band will play it in June.

I think the class reunion comment changed the intended insult from young kids who like shitty music to older folks around here

I tell you what I hate; it's when other people are at the show. I had a ticket last night and went up there to enjoy me a little Jimmy James and there were like other people there and I was like, "Well ain't this a bitch?!?!" and went home.

Here is the only video I made that sounds half-way decent. The sound was so loud in there, and my camera mic picks it up so well, that it rattles whenever there are drums or heavy guitar licks. Here's Jim performing Bermuda Highway and Wonderful (The Way I Feel) from last night (May 2, 2013) at The Cannery in Nashville, Tennessee (acoustic).
Jim James - Bermuda Highway and Wonderful - The Cannery in Nashville on 5/2/2013 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMa0htXP_94#ws)
(The shakiness at the beginning stops not long after Jim starts singing. I balanced my camera on the power cables running along the edge of the stage and held it steady.)
To quote bigeazyfish 1:10 "THANK YOOOU" I remember smiling in that moment thinking you just read my mind
Big Thanks to Mr. White for posting this vid!
