Title: Carl Broemel - Projects Past and Present
Post by: Jordan1987 on Nov 11, 2013, 04:30 PM
What other projects do you guys like that he's played in?  I've been listening to the album Love Like A Mule by Stoll Vaughan.  Carl was the main personnel on this one.  I especially dig the song "Fade Away."

I'm sure most have listened to his second solo album, I love that record. Perfect lazy Sunday album. This is a cool video of him playing a song off it. There are a few out there like this.

Old Pike's bass player, Jason Brammer, also did the poster for MMJ at T5 #4- Z.

There is also his first solo album Lose What's Left which can be found on the Musical Family Tree website. Actually I think there's also some Old Pike on there too.

I really enjoyed seeing him - as he put it - open for the opener - Jim James at the first Nashville show back last February.  When he played Carried Away, it was magical, and he covered R Sexsmith's God Loves Everyone as if it was his own song.  I wish I knew how to upload photos, I've got one good one of him where he's drenched in blue light and I'm standing about a foot away from that tiny yet wonderful stage that they played on that night.

I was at the same show, as luck would have it. And very close to the exact spot where it was filmed. In fact, I was about 6" away from IMeMine (AKA my girlfriend). Now, I'm not gonna say it was adorable. Don't get me wrong, I'm very comfortable with my heterosexuality, and am confident enough to say another man is attractive, good looking, etc... But I'm not gonna use the word "adorable". IT WAS FUCKIN' AWESOME! and a total surprise way to end his set as the opener for a band that should have been opening for him.

Oh have I not mentioned that I love Carl? wanna hang out with him all the time, maybe get an apartment together, have him ask me what I think about the song he's working on, get thanked in the liner notes of his solo album, wait with baited breath for him to get home, sit in matching leather recliners on the weekends watching movies, and just get lost in his eyes whenever he speaks?
So, no...I wouldn't say it was adorable.

GO TEAM CARL!!!
