Of COURSE he announces a new album on April's Fools Day.
Gag or not, I'm actually really digging this track.

QuoteJack White presents his new album Lazaretto, to be released June 10th on Third Man Records/Columbia. Lazaretto inhabits an exciting place in White's expansive discography as the follow-up to 2012's gold-certified international #1 Blunderbuss, and will be preceded by first single and title track "Lazaretto," to be released later this month. While we await the debut of that first official single, listeners can experience a first taste of new music from the album and watch the video for new instrumental track "High Ball Stepper."
The aforementioned Blunderbuss was the first U.S. #1 album of Jack's storied career, also debuting at #1 in the UK, Canada, and, naturally, Switzerland. Blunderbuss was supported by an ambitious world tour featuring two backing bands, the all-male Buzzards and all-female Peacocks, notched up five GRAMMY nominations including Album of the Year, and dominated Best of 2012 lists, including being named MOJO's #1 album of 2012.
In celebration of the new album and their 20th Vault package, Third Man has unveiled their most unique Vault package yet.
The LP for Third Man Records' Vault Package #20 will be the ONLY limited version of Lazaretto to be released. Pressed on split-color blue-and-white vinyl and coupled with exclusive album art, this alternate presentation of the album is both insightful and deserving. Also exclusive to the Vault is a fold-out poster accompanying the album, featuring a classic National Archives photo that serves as a recurrent image throughout the album art.
Unlike the lightning bolt and inverted lightning bolt pressings Third Man did for Jack White's Blunderbuss, this alternate art and colored vinyl will be the only time ANY variation on Lazaretto will be made. Once subscriptions are closed and records are pressed... that's it. Don't sleep. Get in now or regret it later.
The 7-inch includes two early demos of songs that appear on Lazaretto in their completed form. Both "Alone in My Home" and "Entitlement" are solo recordings by Jack White, done while he was in Mexico. Pressed on lustrous blue vinyl and housed in the standard felt-weave, die-cut Third Man Vault 7-inch sleeve, both tracks offer a unique glimpse into the creative process and evolution of a song from it's original germination to its final delivery.
The bonus item is a lavish 40-page hard bound companion piece book full of lyrics, exclusive musical notations, photos and art from Lazaretto. This is the perfect accompaniment to the listening experience and insight into both the album creation method and some of the inspiration (visual and otherwise) behind it.
In addition to these items, Vault package #20 will also include a linen, letter-pressed postcard with the same eye-popping color separations as evidenced in classic chromatic postcards popular in the first half of the 20th century. Stamps not included.
Here is the "first taste":

Awesome! I wonder how much that special pressing will cost.
Vault memberships are $65 per quarter. So you sign up now for $65 and get this package, plus special online content and presale opportunities as well.
the hardest working man in music. Long live JW3!
I was just coming to start a JW3 thread, but for a completely different reason.
What is an expected Festival setlist for Jack White? I only know several songs by each of his respective projects, but would like to be prepared going into forecastle

This was the set when I saw him in Charlottesville:

Steady As She Goes was unbelievable, Two Against One was a highlight for me. I am pretty sure Jason has some shows on The Steam Engine for download.
Damn I haven't heard from or seen Jason since Wilco 2012 in Chicago! Hope he's doing well
I hope jack plays a dead weather and raconteur song. He did last tour, so I'm sure he probably will this time.
Carolina Drama would make me extremely happy.
High Ball Stepper is fucking fantastic

Agreed! Sounds like he's been making full use of those fuzz pedals Third Man was selling last year. It's fuzztastic!
Trying to predict what he'll play is a losin' game. Maybe he'll play more solo shit, now that he's got two albums and scattered singles to choose from? Maybe he'll drop a lot of Blunderbuss material from the set and keep in a lot of hits? Who knows. Hell, I wonder what band he'll have on the road? That's apparently Ruby Amanfu wailing on "High Ball Stepper", so I hope she's still in at least one of the touring bands!

I absolutely love that new Jack song! A little Delta blues with fuzzy heavy blues and rock, plus, some experimental thrown in for good measure. Take note Black Keys!
Jack White 1 Dan Auerbach 0 - was hugely disappointed in the new Black Keys song. Just heard it again on the radion while shaving. But this one here I love. Good job Jack, hope to see and hear you in Berlin soon :D
Yes! I definitely love this song! This makes me more excited to see Jack at Foreskin! I loved his solo show last time around.
Ewind his entire catalog is possible, although since he's promoting this album, I'm sure we'll get a healthy dose of it. After listening to this new song, I'm completely ok with that.
Anyone considering hitting up some of those shows that were announced the other day?
I'm fucking crazy and just bought tickets to three shows in four days at the end of July. That'll be interesting.

I'm in for both Detroit shows, I'm assuming you are as well? If so what seats did you pull for the Fox?
Nice! I'm in for both Detroit shows too. Managed to get a pair in orchestra pit row four, one removed from the center aisle. What about you??

Pit Section 3, Row 4 seat 314
Hahah I'll be right next to you man! Watch out for the guy with an afro rockin' crazily. Can't wait!
Great to hear man! I live about 3 blocks from the Fox too, so if you need any help getting around the city or any recommendations for anything just let me know.
Right on! I'll be in town for three days -- hopefully hitting up the Tigers game on the Tuesday between shows. I'm sure I'll be seein' plenty of ya!
I'm a bit curious as to how this assigned seating pit will work. Every other show on the tour has a GA pit. And when Jack played Detroit in 2012, at the Scottish Rite Theatre (now, weirdly, the Jack White Theatre), there were assigned seats, but the second Jack took the stage, it was bedlam. Kinda hope that scene is avoided now that we've got great seats!
You were at the Scottish Rite show too? Man, that night was a blast, especially seeing Bob Seeger up in the boxes.
And I think I have damn near the same exact ticket for Beck at the Fox a month earlier, so I'll be sure to update on how things are handled.
EDIT: Did some exploring and holy shit these seats are gonna be great. Seat 314 is in the dead center of the stage just four rows back. AND I realized that week is gonna be the best fuckin' week of all time, I totally didn't realize I was seeing Nick Cave on the night in between the two Jack White shows.

pretty cool.
I like the new Lazeretto single, but I feel like the second half of the song tries to be too many things. The first half of the song is pretty sweet though.
I like all of that Lazaretto single. It's certainly not predictable, boring, nor does it conform to sound commercial; plus, it has a kick ass Jack guitar solo! First "High Ball Stepper" and now this great lead single. I can't wait for the album!

Between High Ball Stepper and the Lazaretto single, im all in...JW knows whats up, oooh wee, and his stuff is blowing my mind
Can't wait to see him in Chicago. I saw him with Dead Weather and it was absolutely one of the best shows I have ever seen in my life. :drum:
There is a download available to Vault members -- "Power of Love", the official Lazaretto b-side -- and GOD ALMIGHTY this song is everything "I'm Shakin'" should have been. Pure balls-to-the-wall blues. Can't stop listening.
Loving every second of that tune!
This album is FANTASTIC! When Jack White releases a new album, my expectations are always WAY too high. In fact, I don't think there's an artist I expect more from. Yet Jack somehow finds a way to consistently exceed my expectations, not by giving me exactly what I want and more, but by taking me to completely unexpected places. "High Ball Stepper" is symbolic of the album as a whole actually -- even when Jack does a simple riff-rocker, he's adding enough of the "spook" to make it completely his own. The sign of a true artist!
"Three Women" is a perfect opener, leaving plenty of room for some impressive showboating, both musically -- with a stellar cast of musicians getting a chance to shine through awesome fills -- and lyrically, with Jack embracing his love for all the women who "blow his blues away". "Lazaretto" is furiously funky, the catchiest riff he's released as a solo artist. "Would You Fight For My Love" is brooding and moody (broody, if you will), twisting and turning until the song builds to a classic Jack White piano-pounding climax. Also, this might be the most sample-ready song Jack White has ever recorded. If I'm RZA, I'm finding a way to chop up that intro and get that **** on the new Wu-Tang Clan album.
"Just One Drink" didn't wow me when it was released on its own, but in the context of the album, it's the perfect mid-album happy hoedown tune and one of many infectious tracks on this album that never seems to leave my head. Maybe that's why I like this album so much. It just works so well together. "Alone In My Home" may be the bounciest pop track Jack has ever recorded, and it's followed by the lyrically twisting country waltz of "Entitlement" and then the muffy-grunge-funk of "Black Bat Licorice". What other artists can put out an album with three so stylistically diverse tracks in a row?
Jack White gives you what you want, even if you don't know you want it. Can't wait to see these songs live. They're gonna rip.
Is it better than Blunderbuss? looking forward to it
Got an email last night that my funky, tricky vinyl has shipped, so I'll wait to hear for myself. Sounds like I won't be disappointed.

Apparently Fenway will be in "Bleacher Theater" mode a la the Dropkick Murphys show a few years ago. Sooooo very tempted to hit this up, sounds like it'd be an awesomely unique show. Butttttt five Jack shows in a month seems a bit excessive.
Or does it?
And yes, all pressings as of now are "Ultra" pressings. Though I wouldn't be surprised if there's eventually a regular pressing available.
thanks on the pressing info. Hoping it works with my turntable
the new album is pretty good... I prefer his bands but enjoy the solo stuff. no philly show since 2007!!

God's grace to your family and friends...............
Not music related, but here's an interesting piece written by Jack on his love of Polaroid Cameras. I always love getting an insight into his mind, and I think he comes off better in writing than in interviews.
