I'm hoping that the boys are having a blast recording new songs, and hanging with their friends and family.  I'm hoping they are sooooooooo happy doing this, because at the very least, it will reflect in whatever new music they are recording.  I'm hoping this because they deserve a long rest.  And I'm praying to God all the time that they'll announce a new album soon and a long ass bitchin' tour to go along with it.

haha, yeah you pretty much asked the question i've been asking myself every day.  I know that there are a lot of good reasons that we have to wait.. i'll be better able to handle this when classes end in a week and i can occupy my time with something other than reading or writing.  gonna get out into the great outdoors and bliss out.. i hope the boys get a chance to do the same.

Circuital. 3 years old on 5-31. Not quite their masterpiece. Really can't complain about much, with the shit ton of shows they have done since it's release, but as an EXTREME example of what has been released in the past by a great band in a short period of time, this is quite impressive. All this in 6 years. Keep in mind it was all recorded before 1970, Abbey Road was the last recording they made, with others released later. All of that music was recorded in only twice the amount of time since Circuital was released.

Well I heard the Beatles only recorded 10 hours of original music.

With the upcoming 7th album, and add on the rarities/live recordings/EP's I think we are about the same.  Plus the Beatles had 3 songwriters (Ringo excluded).

And pretty much after 1966, they didn't tour.  Yes the Beatles are impressive, but if you were a fan, you were pretty much out of luck seeing live.

That said, yes, I am waiting in anticipation.

yes, that's an extreme example.  just as an fyi for those who don't know, prior to sgt. pepper their US releases did not match the actual albums as recorded in studio and released in the UK.  in the US, capitol chopped up their original UK releases, threw in singles and b-sides, and turned their first 7 albums into 11.

rubber soul
revolver
sgt. pepper's
magical mystery tour (technically a double-ep)
white album
yellow submarine (soundtrack, only one side of original music)
abbey road
let it be

so they really only went into the studio and recorded 13 albums from '63 to '69, 2 of which were not full length. still quite prolific, but not the 26 on your list. i mean, can we really count the obvious vee-jay label money-grabs like "the beatles vs. the four seasons"?
sorry to get off-topic.  i want another MMJ album and tour as much as the next guy, but i also want them to be able to refresh and recharge.

just a lazy cut and paste list from Wikipedia. The US version of Rubber Soul is my favorite one. Way better than the original British release. The songs all fit perfectly.

my main point is some have stated elsewhere that it takes X amount of time making an album. This have been turned into an expectation that it takes a year between hitting the studio and the release. This is not historically so. No matter how you slice it, the Beatles released a ton a tunes in any given 3 year period. 20 days to the 3 year Circuital anniversary.

As in no news until August? Or the album will drop then or a tour?

I just need a small teaser, something before august!

I have no idea when the album announcement is, when the album will be released, when/if they'll tour, what the next album will "sound like", etc etc etc, but it will all be worth the wait. I do know that.

Actually the next album could totally blow, in which case it would NOT be worth the wait, but we will all at least be excited inbetween the album release announcement and the actually release

I think a One Big Holiday 2 announcement will be coming in the next couple weeks.  Last year, they announced around June 11th.  The "see you next year" posts by Jim and management following last years OBH makes me think another OBH concert is going to happen.

With Spanish Gold (featuring MMJ drummer Patrick Hallahan) touring this summer, I doubt we will be seeing much of MMJ before Fall 2014.

I can't wait for the new record and a re-vitalized MMJ to come out in full force next Fall/Winter!

I know every band has a down period, but these guys haven't released a turd yet... I'm hopeful that we'll get more excellence.

I feel like this new album will be different from everything else.  I also have faith that it will have a bit more meat on it than Circuital.  Although, it could end up being mediocre. Nobody knows...

Considering Spanish Gold's album comes out late May, I wouldn't expect anything until the beginning of June at the earliest to avoid stealing any SG thunder.

That official OBH video and the "How can we not do it again?" and is more than a hint that OBH2 is on.  That is beyond awesome news.
