Title: 2015 Festival Predictions
Post by: MMJOwlz on Aug 27, 2014, 04:25 PM
Which 2015 festivals do everybody hope/expect to see MMJ at next year?  Being in the NE, I'm hoping on Firefly, even if it doesn't seem like a likely spot for them.

I think Bonnaroo is a given.  Maybe Lollapalooza.

Wishful thinking... Solid Sound!

EDIT- Of course, Forecastle!

I'd be surprised not to see them on the bill for Forecastle. They are by and far the most requested band on their Facebook.

I think we'll see MMJ at almost all the major festivals.  I've been saying to friends for some time that were hopeful for a record this year that MMJ would be smart to release in the spring, tour and then hit all the festivals as a headlining act.

I would be shocked if they aren't at Newport Folk Fest.

I'm hoping for a Sasquatch! reappearance. I've never been to The Gorge, it would be a good reason to go.

This would be pretty awesome. Never been either. A bunch of my buddies have gone and say pictures don't do it justice.

I'd like to see:

Governor's Ball (NYC) as a headliner

Bonnaroo (as the Sunday headliner, late night What stage, or late night Which stage)

Newport Folk Festival (though I've been begging for a Monsters of Folk set here for years).

Then I could see some of the usuals like Forecastle or Outside Lands.

Where will MMJ land on the Bonnaroo lineup?  3rd or 4th at this point?

I think it's time to make a statement to the world..

1st and only band on line one of the bill, with their named followed by "5 hour set"

Word spreads that rock and roll is alive and well once again and the pseudo-electronic movement comes to an end.  All the kids that were gonna be beat producers and djs end up picking up guitars and in 10 years we have another golden era of music coinciding with sweeping political reform and everyone just starts dropping LSD together.   :bath:

I've got to think that Merriweather, my home court, is going to be graced by MMJ again in 2015.  That's a perfect venue for them (after PC, of course).
In which case I'll again be hosting a pre-party

I think it depends on who else are in the top 5.

MMJ are big for Bonnaroo but not super well-known nationally like some other acts. I could see them being listed as 3rd but realistically I'd imagine they are somewhere in the 4-6 spot.

No lower than 6th. I always put them on the same level as Wilco for Roo lineup placement. COULD be a headliner but more likely a pre-headliner or late night set.

they were listed as the #6 act in 2011.  If this album keeps them on an upward trajectory then they will definitely be top 5.  Plus, their 'Roo rep precedes them, so I could see them top 4 (behind the big reunion and other legacy acts you typically see)

Way Out West! Not so much a prediction as a slightly unrealistic, but still hopeful, wish.
