Would be really cool if Drake is playing at the same time as jacket. That would separate the crowds in our favor
As always, I enjoy reading fest lineups from the bottom up.
The Districts! Strand of Oaks! Benjamin Booker! J. Roddy & The Business! Moon Taxi! Sharon Van Etten! Sturgill Simpson! Future Islands! etc. Wish I lived near NYC... :undecided:
Solid lineup. This festival is great. I hope to be able to do a day pass for the MMJ day....not sure I can afford the full weekend at this point.

So true. Seems the older I get the more i follow the same practice. Over the last few years I've left my share of festivals before the headliners.
if sturgill, j. roddy, and mmj play on the same day i'd be ecstatic.... maybe j. roddy will be opening for MMJ on tour.... c'mon ATO!
Yowza what a great lineup! Some favorites in there for sure. I may have to drag the Mrs. & I out of hiding. Hopefully, J Roddy & mmj play the same day so we can do a single day pass
Black Keys are headlining Mountain Jam same weekend - hoping MMJ hits both festivals as well.....and maybe this is the co-headlining tour of the Summer?????
Fantastic lineup. Does anyone know if/when Governors Ball does single day ticket sales?

They have done them in previous years but they usually don't put them on sale for a while. I remember checking every day for what felt like weeks. I think they do them if they don't sell out (which I don't think they have in the past few years).
It's usually a little closer to the actual fest that they are available.
This is like our album of the year thread turned into a festival with MMJ and J Roddy added for good measure. :cheesy:
The order of that billing is making me irrationally angry. I didn't even know Florence and the machine was still a thing.
bjorrrrrrrkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
it would be so cool to be able to go to this fest!
Purchased my ticket this morning. First 2015 MMJ show booked!
Not to be a downer but they did not have single day tickets last year because the festival has gotten too popular.

I'm confused...What did you think happened to them? They're easily one of the biggest bands to break through on a global level in the last 10 years.

I hope I'm sensing sarcasm here. You rip BOH in one thread and praise Flo and the Machine in this one? Now I'm confused...
Ms GO4IT, myself and friends have our tix for the Governor's Ball.
I can't resist this great lineup in my home town.
See you there! :cheesy:
(Sorry to be a downer) I've gone to Gov Ball the past two years and its... okay....
Anybody have any idea if this'll be the only New York date through the summer? I don't really wanna buy a $100 day ticket just for them.
How exactly do you get to and from Randall's Island?? Are there ferries involved?

Walk, Drive, Ferry, Bus
There are ferries and ferry passes but I've been told sometimes there can be a LONG wait before and after the show if you don't mind waiting. Other people have recommended other routes to me.
Last year I did all three other methods of transportation. I walked over the bridge (there are two or three ways you can walk in from different parts of the city (Manhattan, Queens, and maybe Bronx/Brooklyn...I forget the third). I walked in from Manhattan and while it was a lengthy walk it was relatively easy to follow (signs and tons of other people walking).
There is a bus that they run that takes you right to the entrance and it stops at a subway stop. So basically I got into Penn station and took the subway up to the stop I was told to (via the site) and there was a line/bus that would run every so often that takes you right there. I think it's maybe a few dollars.....or possible complimentary. I don't recall but they'll have more info on the site.
Finally, if you have a friend in the area or want to pay for a taxi you can have them drop you off at the dropoff area. This is probably easiest if you don't mind paying a cab or have someone that wouldn't mind dropping you off. Not sure how easy it is to pick people up after the show and getting taxis after will likely be very tough but going in is a breeze.

Probably should have not been lazy and just checked the website first huh? Thanks for all the info though. I'd be pretty bummed if they don't sell single day passes as Im already committed to Firefly which is gonna be a week two after this.
Yea, last year I did Bonnaroo the following week which made my Roo not as relaxing as it could have been because I was sore and tired and had blisters already because of doing a 3-day Governors Ball pass.
I'm definitely banking on a one-day pass happening. MMJ for at least an hour and a half plus there would be a few other acts I'd want to see. Hoping for Saturday or Sunday, though. Friday makes it tougher.
Gov Ball promoters did an AMA today and said it's not 100% final but it looks like MMJ are headlining the second stage on Friday opposite Drake.
(not sure if this will be legible when posted, but heres a breakdown of all the lineup confirmations they made)
Friday Saturday Sunday
drake (headliner) deadmaus (HL) black keys (HL)
florence bjork hot chip
st vincent future islands war on drugs
ratatat Sharon van etten tame impala
mmj connor oberst fly lo
death from above ryan adams noel Gallagher
twin shadow sbtrkt weird al
charli xcx little dragon
the decemberists
j roddy
the districts
i really hope that is correct because i want to see j roddy and st. vincent
Governors Ball hinted on FB that daily schedules will be revealed very soon. If they do single day tix, that would probably coincide. Just sayin.
Gov Ball just tweeted out the line ups. MMJ on Friday.
Damn. Looks like i'll have to miss out on them at Gov Ball. May try for a Sunday day pass though.
Hoping they have at least one NYC date on the upcoming tour. Would love to see them play Barclay's Center or something.

Sunday looks terrific. Depending on MMJ's schedule, I might just do that day as well.
Is there a Roll Call for this?
If not, here goes:
1) tdb810 & Bobster
I am somewhere between a maybe and a probable for this
ISO: Anyone have an extra for Friday??
Happy to meet in NYC or Brooklyn anytime beforehand. Thanks!!

really wanted to see part of drake's set. oh well.
We will be camping at the Honda Stage all day. Excited to see the Decemberists!
If u there early enough catch The Districts, I promise you awesome up and coming band saw them open for dr dog and have been hooked since and seen them in bk another time. No justice for them being that early, I been to this festival last two years and I can honestly say it sucks but might luck out with Mmj not being on main stage

Thanks for the scoop! I was actually just checking them out on Spotify, and agree that they seem to have something good going on.
I'm in need of an extra day ticket. If there any out there please pm me.
Pretty pleased with the Friday schedule. Florence>st Vincent>mmj is very doable. Obviously this is an mmj board so I'm biased but I really do feel more people or at least half of all people will want to go see mmj over drake.
Anybody wanna weigh in on from 3-7 on Friday? I don't know any of those artists other than by name only in a few cases.
If it's gotta be a festival set, I tell ya I wouldn't mind terribly what they got at hangout.
Don't miss The Districts

Read that recommendation in the thread. Bummed they're super early, can't make it there by then unfort.
Any recommendations 3-7??
Death From Above 1979 are probably a solid to see at a fest. They are loud noisy and fun. Chromeo will be a funky dance party. Very upbeat also good to see at a fest. I don't think I'm gonna get there before 5.
So psyched that MMJ were given 1:45. The longest set that day.
2 weeks to go!

Nope, haven't seen or heard anything about it.
do you folks think it will be easy to buy a single friday night ticket outside of the venue? looks like it is sold out now.
It's NYC, there will be scalpers and concert goer's trying to sell extras. You'll probably get in for under face. At a worst case scenario you can just listen by the ticket gate. Its a big open field with very large speakers. The music will carry.
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

ProTip: Taking the subway to 125th Street and walking over the bridge is the best way to get there. I did three nights of Phish last summer at Randall's and the subway route was smooth/ no waits/ no lines/ cheap... plus ferry, bus, cab lines can be aggressive.

they did an autograph session earlier in the day. i waited in line and had them sign my hat. i asked jim if he was bummed that he was going to miss drake (he was playing the same time as mmj) and jim laughed. he said he hopes people show up their set. told him i dont think that should be a problem. everybody was super nice.
