Title: New Orleans-LA
Post by: Tarron242 on Mar 06, 2015, 02:55 PM
I am trying to determine which location to purchase our tickets.  The website says GA Pit and Reserved Seating; however, ticketmaster has reserved seating starting at the stage with GA behind it all (back by the stairwell to the Dome).  Anyone have any experience or information that could clear this up?  We want to get RES if they are close to stage, but will do GA Pit if the pit are is a decent size.

***UPDATE***  There's a dropdown box that has 2 different GA Pit setups.  One looks like RES will be fairly close, the other not so much.  Still if anyone has experienced either or both of these setups, any information is much welcome.

Regardless, we will be there!

I think this is show I'm going to.  I know its gonna be hot but I love New Orleans and love the Jacket.

Tarron242, I'm thinking the reserved seating might be the better seats.  Kind of a strange venue.  Has anyone been to a show here?

Just purchased tickets for this show!  It's going to be a hot one that's for sure.

We were able to get Floor C, Row 3.... From the seating chart I saw it should be pretty close to the stage.

I've been to several shows there and I almost cried when I saw it listed as the venue. If I didn't live here there's no way I'd go. It's better than no NOLA show at all. That's about the only good thing I can say about it.

The sound isn't terrible, which it could be considering how it's set up. But I went to a show there at the end of June and it to say it was hot is a gross understatement. It rains almost every afternoon that time of year which turns the giant slab of concrete into a sauna so it feels a lot hotter than it actually is. And there's no breeze since you're wedged in between the dome and a bunch of buildings with 7000 people.

But, it's better than no NOLA show at all.

We'll just pregame our ***** off at CellarDoor and pretend we're somewhere else...from the rail (well, that's where I'm going to be if I have to perspire, anyway).

I'm calling WU now...on hold. I bought GA Pit tix for this show and they damn well better be up front.

Exactly, if I'm going to fall out, I'm going to fall out on the rail. But I'm going to pregame less intensely than we did the last time we pregamed at the Cellar Door. I don't remember a whole lot after that.

Do not use the TM seating chart unless you're buying tickets from TM.

The seating chart for anything purchased in the presale this morning is here:

http://mymorningjacket.com/events/320983 (http://mymorningjacket.com/events/320983)

GA pit tix purchased this morning ARE in the pit in front of reserved seating :)

Reading this makes me scared.  I usually go to New Orleans in March/April & Dec to avoid the heat.  I'm from TX but the humidity in New Orleans is no joke.   But a chance to mix in 2 for 1 Abita, Oysters, Harrahs, & the Jacket might be worth it.

I just looked at the various configurations on TM. They have one for this set up, they just have the wrong one up for the show.

Looking at it I'm not sure why they're doing it like this. I can see having A-E with seating and the rest GA. I've been to a show there set up like that and it worked well. But not the rest of it. They've got chairs almost to the stairs and an almost nonexistent GA. GA is basically going to be the stairs up to the dome.

According to WU, TM has a different allocation of tickets, which is why their chart isn't showing a GA pit.  I don't know whether to believe that or not, but I did confirm if you bought GA pit tix in this morning's presale, you're up front and not in that GA area designated on the TM charts.

Also, Lucius as an opener...because outdoors in New Orleans in July isn't punishment enough.

Finally set up an account after years of voyeurism.   Got tickets on an impulse and got row 16 section C.  Yeah, not incredibly excited about the venue, but flying in from KY so psyched to see the show.  If the venue is not the best, well, we are in New Orleans.   Lucious = more pre-show hanging out elsewhere.  Saw them at Forecastle last year, feel that was enough.  Also, my wife and I would love to hang with some MMJ fans before the show if interested.

I'm considering seats for this now...we have two pit tix. I'm just not keen on sprinting for the rail or waiting on hot slab all afternoon. We'll see.

We'll be be down for getting together with others if that's the route we go.

Hey! Is this still something you're considering? I tried PMing you but I don't think it went through for some reason. I have two seats and would love to trade!

For everyone complaining about the heat in NOLA in July - yes it's hot and sticky during the day but once the sun goes down it ain't no thang.  And if you are heat-averse in every way possible, drink a cold Abita and eat a shrimp po boy and all will be right in the world

I am pretty bummed they're not playing one of the 3 (!) beautiful new theaters that recently reopened downtown.  Oh well, maybe an outdoor show will up the chances of another MMJ second line??

I'm in +1.

Hey everybody,

I bought 3 tix to the NOLA show for my buddy's bday- but he has a conflict (his Grandma's 90th!).

Anyway, I'd love a fan to buy these at Face Value. 3 seats together, 13 rows up from the PIT, center.

They are already up on Cash or Trade https://cashortrade.org/profile/AdamNiederpruem/posts/149191#.VW4P3mBN1FI (https://cashortrade.org/profile/AdamNiederpruem/posts/149191#.VW4P3mBN1FI)
(a great site if you don't know it).

Sec: FLR B
Row: 13
Seats 20-22

I'm asking $170 for all 3, and I can ship electronically via Ticketmaster.

Hi everyone,

Flying in from San Antonio on Thursday.  Looking over the weather.  Saw there is a chance of thunderstorms for Friday.  Really hope this doesn't affect the show..

It's gonna be a scorcher!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.  But not due to the Nola heat but because the jacket needs to play the most epic STEAM ENGINE of all time.  Carl hitting us with some mad sax riffs and Bo busting out some trippy ass key solo.  I once had a dream that a "phone went west" and did a "run thru" the desert and got bit by a "cobra".  So when you want to complain about the heat just turn to the prettiest girl you see and tell her "your skin looks good in the moonlight".  It will either get you laid or you my friend have found your pink unicorn.  Where's that preparty at because I'm coming to get the place jacked.  Let's do this!!!

Love your enthusiasm, Mellow Man!!  I don't think too many of y'all are planning on attending this show, but for those who are coming - especially if you're from outta town-try to be smart in the heat! The "real feel" for tomorrow might get upwards of 110. Hydrate. Find shade. Don't fall out from heat exhaustion and cause the band to get distracted from whatever they're giving us!! ;) Seriously, be careful. More later on pre-game options. =)

For those who will be in town and free around noon-ish, it's Satchmo Fest Weekend.  Pres. Hall plays at noon Friday...lots of other good music, dance lessons, and seminars.  Has been free in that past, but I think they are charging a $5 admission this year.  Full schedule here: http://fqfi.org/satchmo/schedule/stage

Pre-game - A few options: 1) Happy's Pub on Poydras - cheesy chain where the waitresses have to wear school girl outfits, but they usually have a decent draft selection.  Short 5-7 minute walk to Champ. Square. No food.

2) Walk-On's - same cheesy chain as Happy's but with food and similar draft list as Happy's.  Half a block closer to Champ. Square than Happy's.

3) Cellar Door - cool spot on Lafayette. A slightly longer walk to the Sq.  More of a cocktail place, but decent beer in cans/bottles.  Good food.

If you're going to camp out in line, there's a Rouse's not too far on Baronne.  Go, buy food and beverages, and take it all to the line with you.  No open container law here - glass is a no-no, but I've never been hassled.  Have a go (plastic) cup, just in case.

Of course there are more and better options a short cab/streetcar/bus ride away.

Hoping for a magic show in this most magic of cities.  They can't come to New Orleans and not bring it!

I will be hitting the Avenue Pub at some point in the afternoon.  Met a guy Craig who works at the whiskey bar upstairs, I have not been there but I think he said they have 200+ whiskies (!) in addition to being one of the top beer bars in the world, at least according to the bartender at Latitude 29 last night.  Burgers and sandwiches too.  It's on St. Charles so it's a short cab ride / Uber to the show, but you don't want to be walking to the show anyway in the heat!  Save your sweat for the show.

http://theavenuepub.com

I'll probably have a straw hat on with the number 23 on it, come say howdy if you see me.

For the heat, I'm field testing one of those cooling towel things that are super absorbent - you wet them and they cool you down via evaporation.  A wet bandanna works too.  Drink yer water!

I'm not from here but I love this town and have done a lot of exploring.  There are SO many excellent places in New Orleans to eat and drink, find them!  Check out Yelp or ask a local, they are super friendly and all have opinions.  Get off Bourbon and go explore!  Going to be a great night!

My favorite bar and also an excellent choice!  The Avenue Pub is one of the best bars in the city and is consistently rated as one of the top 50 beer bars in the country!  The bourbon/whiskey program is also one of the top 3 in the city.  Food there is also good...like I said, this is my favorite bar in the city!

Love the combo of Highly Suspicious / Holdin onto Black Metal.  Both those songs don't get enough love individually but paired in a live setting they are epic!!!!!

Nice set overall for the bourbon street folks.

Just checked my setlist stats and have never seen the HS/HOTBM combo before.  Out of my 26 shows, I have seen the HOTBM/HS combo twice, once in Atl in 2011 and and the final night of OBH2.

Love logging my shows into setlist.fm so I can get geeky with that shizzy.

Rando question here, any NOLA locals that can give some input for a trip to your fine city? I've spent my fair share of sleepless days and nights in NOLA during jazz fests, but looking to take the fam (3 teenagers) on a trip this coming December/January. Could use some locals input.

Awesome show and great weekend in NOLA.  I love NOLA and the Jacket & together made for a unbelievable night.

-Venue was pretty cool.  Thought it would be too hot and not that great sound but weather was fine.  Band sounded great up close.

-I was on Jim side and basically had my own area to dance and go wild.

-Hearing Rollin Back again (heard it in Red Rocks 212, Bermuda Highway, & Eveyln was great.

-The new material is great live.  Goes perfect with other Jacket songs.

Thank you MMJ & thank you NOLA!

I'm very glad somebody captured this ending jam/artistry of Lay Low...In all my shows I have yet to see what Jim does here. Not sure if other shows on this tour have transitioned into Tropics in this way, but Jim's nasty meanderings melted me that night.

I know it's wishful thinking to hope any recording of this show will ever surface; nevertheless, it was truly a show of greatness. To all the tedious geeks who get off on these nuggets - check it out, y'all  :cheesy:   :cheesy:
