Bill Withers - Steppin' Right Along: http://youtu.be/Bn7T9kUa1-w (http://youtu.be/Bn7T9kUa1-w)
Here's my rationale for this being a super Chicago cover:
1) Utilizes Bo's new synth
2) Could also feature Compound Fracture-esque drum solo (double drummer what?!) ala OBH
3) Goes along with theme of transcending Eros/ego for transcendent love/gods love to deliver
4) Is a goddamn jam
I think at least a couple of the obh2 covers will make their way into a somewhat regular rotation, similar to how It Makes No Difference and Rocket Man sort of began again at Forecastle 2012 and were given a lot of mileage over the next couple of years.
Lost in the Supermarket the clash
or for my father London Calling another Clash tune obviously.
i don't know hold on.
alright two more votes
both agreed on Fire On the Mountain by the Grateful Dead.
and then there was a vote for me getting up and playing covering Passenger Side by Wilco but that's nonsense i can't sing very well but my god i love to play that song and croon with the best of them.
also i was thinking Elton John might need another cover but really if one of those Clash songs played at Red Rocks my dad and i would flipping die.
in a good way that is. I am the epitome of hyperbole.
currently listening to the 2011 Red Rocks show. SO good!
Loving Cup
Rudy Can't Fail
Ophelia
ooooooooooo Rudy Can't Fail
I think they should kick off OBH3 with Hey Nineteen.
Dirty Diana by MJ

Pretty sure this gets my vote for favorite real-time forum comment. I feel like I can see inside your brain.
Rudie Can't Fail is a pretty dope choice, especially if they had Pres Hall or Antibalas. Plus the weird singing.
I am still hoping that one day they will do "Eye of the Tiger". I used to have a jukebox in my basement as a kid, and my sister and I would always get real serious dancing to that.
They would destroy Eye of the Tiger!
Risin' up, back on the street....
TLC's Waterfalls with Carl doing the Left Eye verse.

This is the best idea ever. With or without bare mid-riffs?

ooooooooooo Rudy Can't Fail
Jim would nail the vocals (duh). Especially the "first they cursed" line.
I'd have to think Chicago would be a perfect place to revive the OBH 2 covers of Twist And Shout and Danke Schoen (or is the Donkey Chain).
Ferris Bueller you're my hero.
FREE FERRIS!
For years I've imagined the guys playing Zeppelin's Achilles Last Stand or any Pink Floyd song... I will keep wishing!
cortez the killer.
The Duck Tales theme song would be Awesome!!!
I feel like they would kill "My Girl" by The Temptations
Tangerine - Led Zeppelin
Helter Skelter - The Beatles
I Second That Emotion - Smokey Robinson
So In Love- Curtis Mayfield
No Quarter - Led Zeppelin
Fearless - Pink Floyd
A Woman In Love - Tom Petty
And I'll second the Tangerine choice above me.

Since Fearless is my favorite Floyd song, I shall agree with this one completely. The sound of the song itself fits so well with Jims voice and if Carl played slide on it
"Uptown Funk". just kidding, absolutely not, maybe?
I'll probably get rightfully banned from the forum for that suggestion but the first time i heard that song i was like MMJ could SLAYYY this lol.
THE WANDERER
If I had to have a cover, Don't Do It and the Marley mix, but I would honestly be perfectly fine with absolutely no covers. Gives more room for rarities and original songs that I long to hear.
either way, jacket is jacket and they play cover songs better than the original bands, in most cases so let the water flow...
"God Walks Among Us Now: Jesus Song No. 6"

Echoes--Floyd (imagines those epic Gilmour guitar swells through Carl's pedal steel)
Carwash--Norm Whitfield
The Wheel--Jerry Garcia/GD
Mind Riot--Soundgarden (for something completely different)
They Love Each Other by JG / Grateful Dead as a segue jam into Only Memory Remains
Sway by Rolling Stones
Can You Get To That by Funkadelic
Sweet Talkin Woman by ELO
Shuggie Otis - Strawberry Letter 23, just has this tour written all over it.

Undun - The Guess Who
House of the Rising Sun - The Animals
Been listening to a lot of classic rock lately
Run Runaway by Slade

Please no
I'm probably in the minority, but i detest the Mac. I would hate all over that one.
CORTEZ THE KILLER!
I like the suggestion of "Hey Nineteen" to open OBH3. I would go just to hear that!!!
But my stock answer for a show is: Low spark of highheeled boys - Traffic
Well, they already covered "Drive," so...
They've covered so much awesome stuff. I'd be happy to see any of them for myself. They introduced me to a lot of cool tunes that way.
I think I remember reading something where Patrick said he tried to convince Jim to let them do "Take Me Home" by Phil Collins but Jim wasn't keen. I could be making it up, though. Either way, I think that would be bad. ass. Patrick would slay it.
Any of these:
"I Love the Nightlife (Disco 'Round)" - Alicia Bridges
"You Make Loving Fun" - Fleetwood Mac
"Boogie Shoes" - KC & The Sunshine Band
"Madman Across the Water" - Elton John
"Fantastic Voyage" - Lakeside
"Love is the Drug" - Roxy Music
"We Don't Need Another Hero (Thunderdome)" - Tina Turner
...And Many More!™
I can dream, right. Maybe when we're all dead and I get to tell my friends, "See? I told you they'd be playing in god's back yard."
I've probably thought about this far more than is necessary.

Thats awesome..In the right setting (OBH3) I think they would kill "Boogie Shoes"
I'd be curious to hear a version of The Cure's 'A Forest' with some cool pedal steel guitar atmosphere.
I would love to hear them play Looking for the magic - Dwight Twilley Band
https://youtu.be/l24DFbedbJ0
Free Bird!!
Elvin Bisop "Fooled around and fell in Love"
Heard it in the car and it hit me..Jim would kill the vocals and there are some areas on there for Carl to stretch out a bit as well....
