Does anyone have any insight regarding Stage AE? Size, sound, etc?
And is anyone going to Tame Impala at Stage AE the night before? That is an amazing back to back nights. I'm at both.
IIRC from the Neko tour with Jacket its a big GA open air venue, may have been some limited seats, but I am not sure of that as we were standing near the stage if not front row
sound was solid though
APR is on fire these days

I might not be the best person to give advice on this venue but I did see MMJ there on 8/11/11, my 12th MMJ show. The venue is across the river from downtown among the sports stadiums (Pirates, Steelers). It's all GA and standing for the most part. Maybe there are some seats way in the back but I was 2 or 3 back from the rail and I wasn't looking behind me a whole lot. I would get there early and try to get close to the rail but I think there will be a fair amount of competition and what comes with standing your ground in the pit. Expect a few rowdy drunks up front.
It's not a very big venue; not a lot of extra real estate in the back like a lot of outside venues. I actually liked the venue for the 8/27/10 Pittsburgh show, my 6th but who's counting, a lot better. Lots of room and away from the hustle and bustle.
You will have a good time and the only reason I'm not going to that show is that I'm driving up to NYC that night to see them at Governor's Ball.
This is the sister venue of the LC in Columbus - they are indoor/outdoor venues - this MMJ show unlike the others is an indoor show - the place is large so same capacity as a theatre but half the size of the outdoor venue -- this is essentially a GA club show think House of Blues or 9:30 club - get there early!
Stage AE is one of my favorite places to see shows in Pittsburgh. APR - i'm going to both Tame Impala and MMJ as well.
I don't know why the show is indoors this year, it was outdoors last two times they played this place.
I think i'll have 2 extra tickets if anyone can help me out.
With my bad luck of rain at outdoor shows, the fact that it's indoors is fine with me.
Check your PMs ManNamedTruth.
Pumped, pumped, pumped. Hoping to get railed! :drum:
Any idea what time they will go on tonight? If I remember correctly from the past AE shows, it was around 8 or 8:30?

If it's anything like last night Floating Action will go on at 8 and MMJ will be on sometime between 9:15 and 9:30. Hopefully there's a shorter gap between bands tonight though, it felt like they delayed things last night since so many people left their seats to go to the restroom or get food/beer between sets.
From the schedule posted by PromoWest at the venue, here's tonight's schedule:
Doors: 7pm
Floating Action: 8:00 - 8:45
MMJ: 9:15 - 11:45
Curfew: 12:00
That's right in line with the show we saw last night in Cleveland.
Also, it's still an indoor show, likely b/c of ticket sales (2,500 capacity indoor vs 5,500 outdoor). Bummer considering it's 75 and sunny right now.

2.5 hour set with the apparent option to go an extra 15? Ill take that any day of the week! Not going to this show but will be monitoring.
Anyone that's going know how to work the Periscope app?
Have a great time tonight! Last night was fabulous. I am unfortunately called back to the homestead for the weekend, otherwise I would have made the trek. Wishing you a stellar setlist!
And a simple request... report in if you can. We can't make every show but we are there in spirit when we follow these threads.
Peace
Sound check show for Pittsburgh (I missed it but the wife made it):
Get the Point
Day Is Coming
Sooner
Plus some Jim James banter about the Ohio river and how it's cool that we can kayak on the Allegheny River out here.
Off to the parking lot for some tailgating (as the Taylor Swift trailors roll in for Saturdays show at Heinz field)

I was right beside ya. Saw you leanin' in for those facemelts. Great shot.
Great show.
It
was awesome.
Can anyone confirm which arrangement of Gideon they played? Normal or the extended rockout version?
It was the normal version.
Thanks! Seems like the extended version is reserved for set-closing duties. Hope it makes an appearance sometime this tour!
The show was the usual MMJ greatness. It was cool to see Jim and Bo smile at each other and give a fist bump while walking off stage. Jim was moving around the stage quite a bit but not jumping on Patrick's riser or getting too crazy.
I thought they did extend Gideon a decent amount but not as much as some past versions. Jim's Tropics tease before Magheeta caused Carl and Tom to crack up. The band crushed Easy Morning Rebel and The Way That He Sings. The new stuff sounded great.
Soundcheck was fun and full of entertaining Jim banter with the crowd (around 40-50 people). We all arrived by 3:45 but didn't get into the venue until 4:30 or so. It was well organized and very cool. While waiting to get in, MMJ were doing their private soundcheck (which we could hear while standing outside) and were playing Rolling Back, a song I have never seen live. And one I still haven't seen although I was sure they'd play it at night.
Decent write-up on the show from Scott Mervis at the P-G, calling Magheeta "the most euphoric six minutes at Stage AE all season -- inside or out."

"It makes so much sense to my brain to see you dancing," James said at one point.
That's the way he talks. He's a little out there. In all the best ways.
