This was epic! I think some of my brain batter is still on the floor in the Tennessee Theater... Carl slayed with the sax!

Hell yeah!

Talk about mind bending!  That was as close to space as I've seen since Jerry.  All they needed was to go into some drums and it would've been time travel for me, and I wasn't even there. I can only imagine how great it all was in that theater.

Is it Chicago yet?

Seriously, got lost in that jam too. Everything was a blur, i vaguely remember hearing Mahgeetah at some point afterwords.  I've been walking around in a daze every since, heck i just now came to

Cheers to a great tour

I'm still tripping off it. Those fucking lights and what they've done to steam engine just took it to an entirely new level.  Seriously,  those lights, man.

Listened to it several times at work this afternoon. Wow. (The benefits of having a big monitor!)

Eric, funny you should say that.

After the Knoxville show, I mentioned to Ms Y that the jam in Athens after IWSYS and this jam after Steam Engine in Knoxville really reminded me of something the Dead started doing in 1990 where they would play Terrapin Station which would go into the normal jam that concludes that song, then they would go into a very different sounding, very free-form jam that still felt connected to Terrapin but was very different than the usual jam that concludes that song.*

Not sure if you ever saw them do that or will remember what I'm talking about if you did.

*Wow, that is a really long-winded sentence.

Wow Jon, glad to know I wasn't the only one hearing, and feeling that.  I'm sure we've both seen plenty of great jams post Jerry, but that one there just hit a chord with me that took me right back.

I know that Terrapin ending jam you're talking about, and you're right in how you're describing it,and how this jam was similar in it's free form after the normal ending jam.  I dig it, and hope they keep doing it!

It's pretty incredible to me they went there with this on only the 2nd show of the tour. It was crazy good, and it's got me thinking how great the rest of the tour is going to be. I haven't seen a show yet, and I'm already thinking what other shows can I add to my list.

Well, I just saw two, and I'm right there with you.  I don't know if that's better or worse than your situation.

Hope that we end up at a few of the same ones down the line.  Come to SF Eric!

I'm going to try for SF. It's a tough time of the year for me to get away, but I'm going to do all I can to see if I can pull it off.

Mr. Whippy, it was nice to meet you Saturday night. You were standing next to Fully in the lobby before the show.

As for Steam Engine, I've heard it 3 times this year and it seems to be on another level than past version I've heard. Hope to hear it again this summer.

That was an epic mind warp.  No other words to describe it.  Seemed so out of left field in an awesome way.  Seems like they were totally in their own little world.  They need to make that a staple for this tour at least.  Pure wickedness.

Steam is my favorite Jacket song and I agree this version was the best I've heard live. The version they did at Headliners for the Waterfall show was really special but this one just was a dream.  Maybe even spoiled me because how can they top this version right??  Somehow I think they will.

Great meeting you Crispy and Whippy and the other forum members. Such a great weekend!
