Of pestering Kory about the planetarium show taping.
This is the one taping we all have a burning desire to hear. Magnix's archive isn't complete without it!
you shant pester aMD... he has already given me the lossless copy to split up, I have just put it on the back burner... I'll make an effort to work on it this week.
Alright, you brought it on yourself. Get to work! ;)
I've got the first disc converted and tracked as well as adjusting the levels a bit. I'll have it up by tomorrow or next day. I like to listen to it on a few different stereos so I know i'm happy with the best it can be.
Glad to hear it Kory, thanks!
now I'm just going to be a tease... it sounds good on the headphones... I've got the CD player in my garage (12 foot ceiling, natural reverb heaven) and my car left to test.
I'll probably have this posted tomorrow night, pending I don't go see a show that I may go to.
Don't miss the show just for this...I'm just happy to know you're this far along.
Please tell me you have these as mp3 files. I want to hear this show, but flac is just too much for me. :-[
They'll go on the archive as flac and mp3s...
geez, get off my back people! ;)
I'm sure this will be out to the masses soon. i always love reliving this show, it was a great one. It's still got to be in the top 5.
btw, alan adelberg aka kimbos bread was the taper on this if you want to add that to your notes, Kory. He'd probably appreciate the props.
I was going to ask you this info Dylan. Didn't you say it was VHS sourced? Any info on that? I have adjusted levels... are you cool with that?
gracias!
i'm definitely cool with you messing with the levels, they need it a bit. He filmed it on a digital camcorder, i believe it was a Sony mini DV, then we ripped the audio using acidpro(pretty sure) and burned it to a disc. If it makes any difference he was in the very back of the planetarium which would be around row 20. Also worth noting is that Bermuda Highway was played Jim solo acoustic (completely acoustic) but was not recorded as alan was switching video tapes through this song.
thank you kindly for the info sir!
I am uploading... should be up and ready to go in a couple hours...
:D
Shall we add it to Magnix's archive once uploaded?
and here we go!
Thanks go to Dylan for getting the lossless files out so we can all ditch those complete set mp3s...

I will update the MMMJLRA thread as well. I'm going to have to squeeze it in there though.
Thanks for everyone's hard work. I know that this has been a long time in coming, and it was definitely worth it. This recording tells me what a perfect show this must have been.
HOLY CRAP. Everyone who reads this, listen to this version of Rocket Man. (Insert jaw hanging open smiley here)

That didn't dawn on me til I was typing out the text file, it's all weird to think about.
Wow..nice treat, thanks to all of you guys that got this out to the masses.....
Ok, now where's the link for the video? :P
the video is still MIA. If I find it I'll get it to the masses but I wouldn't hold my breath.
A couple more notes about this unforgettable show: By My Car is great. That's one of the only songs that Guetig put his stamp on and they haven't really played it since, or at least it didn't sound like this.
Also, you can hear the taper, kimbo/alan, cracking up laughing at the very end of evelyn is not real. Jim did his signature pause at the end and then the laser show morphed into a huge pot leaf and Jim did his best towelie impression: "you all wanna get high?" A nice fingerprint and something you may not quite understand without the visuals.
The band was at the bottom of the planetarium with no lights on them the whole time. During most of the show you could see the guys watching the laser show right along with us.
Thanks to Kory for the hard work! Enjoys, peeps!
Awesome. I've heard a lot about this and I can't wait to listen to it... Friday morning... damn hectic school/work/sleep schedule.
Nice job boys. This is probably my favorite bootleg of all time. Headphones and lights off. You can actually transport yourself to the show. At this point I feel like I was actually at the show, I have a vision of exactly what it looked like inside the venue.
Thanks so much guys...been wanting to hear this for a long time.
Thank you Alan, Dylan & Kory!!! Nice to get to hear this. 'Towlie'! ;D
Hey isn't it Brian's birthday, or is that tomorrow? Brian, did you get my text?
Yeah, I got the text but I don't know how to text back. My birthday is Sunday, thank you for the happy birthday wish friend.
The vocals and treble sound pretty good but the drums and bass seem to be coming from under water. Still it was great to "experience" Set 1 on my way home tonight!
this picture of you is amazing
listening to the "fixed" version. Nice work Kory. God, I love this show. The magic from that night was captured very well even if it's not the best sound quality it's one of the best quality shows in terms of performance ever.
I talked to Jim after the show and he said that they were basically taking a loss or just barely breaking even on the show but he just wanted to play this venue every since he first saw it. I'm so glad that I got to see yet another (of millions) dream come real in front of my eyes. The venue was all basically friends and family because they only sold 60-70 tickets (that may be a generous estimate).
I chewed bubble gum into my hair and had to cut it out after the show. ;D
Just a question. Is this the only live full-band Rocket Man recording we have? Or its only ever live performance?
