My ticket says 6:30. The MMJ website says 5:00. Can I assume the doors open at 5 and opening band is 6:30?
Sounds about right. I imagine there's a 10pm sunday curfew at the venue, but confirmation of this and the above would certainly be welcome.
Pretty sure the curfew is 11. In 2011 they stopped at 11 sharp. I have not heard of an early sunday curfew.
I thought of several war-horse songs for curation requests in Santa Barbara tomorrow, but there are too many to choose just one. If anyone is inclined to make a request, I would like to hear Hopefully, (and hopefully Jim solo), because I think that song would leave an impression on the group on newbies accompanying me to the Bowl.
Hey People! It's been a long time since I have posted. Good to be back!
I have an extra ticket for tomorrow's show. It's Section G row A. I will sell it for face.
Also, anyone think we will get a State of the Art, or another one from Jim's album?!
Curfew is definitely 10 pm. Not just for Sunday either, all days. Has been this way for ages.

10?!? damn.
I also heard (not sure if its totally true or not) that Red Rocks had an 11 curfew, but they went a good 45 minutes past that.

I have been to over 20 SB Bowl shows the past 30 or so years. If it has always been a 10 PM curfew, I never noticed it. I was thinking the last MMJ show in LA had an 11 PM shutdown, but maybe it was 10, because there was no opening band and they started playing when the sun was still up in early July. Any idea about the original question I asked? Hope to see you there and in LA.
No clue about start time but doubt it will be 5! If I had to guess I'd say fruit bats at 6:30 sharp for a 45 minute set, jacket on at 7:45, off at 9:59:59.
Many venues have curfews and some are more strict enforcing than others, the SB Bowl is strict! It's nestled in a neighborhood of extremely high dollar homes.
Roll call line up 4:30, entrance at 4:45. All others enter at 5pm, show starts 6:30. That's the 411 I got. Heading up now on Amtrak from San Diego, heart racing like the train!
I didn't even realize this MMJ west coast swing perfectly lined up with Neil's tour dates. Why am I not there?!?!? I FUCKIN BLEW IT!
Neil was in Seattle the Sunday following last weekends Friday/Saturday shows.
Neil blew straight through the curfew last night apparently...
Neil's been blowing through curfews all summer! Granted, Neil has a lot more cash with which to pay fines than the MMJ camp.
can anyone going give us a setlist update later on? itd be greatly appreciated!
P.S. random, but also (as always) tom has been so nice to me through twitter today. helping me find the right bass for a beginner like me. just another reason we all love this band

F'n STEAM ENGINE opener
 ,
TIP
There's a quality show opener
My second show this tour. I think every song but 2 on this setlist was played at Red Rocks. It was a real good show, but I would like to hear different songs Tuesday in LA. I'm sure I will.
Anyone know who the artist that did the SB poster?
oh man! I love Steam openers! Didnt this happen at least a few times 2002-2004?

I think it's Clinton Reno but not positive, didn't look too closely at it.
Interesting and fun show. The steam opener was a nice treat. We took our three teenagers to the show, and sat in the seats. Wish we would have just got floor as almost the entire venue outside of the floor (and the five of us) sat for most of the show. What???
Definitely a hits/waterfall show, but worked for us, the kids had a blast! I think my wife summed tonight up perfectly during the opening drum rifts of OBH, she leans to me and says..."it never gets old". So true!
Show was over at 9:45 too, which again, perfect for us as I drove 3.5 hours home after the show...school night! 7 hours of driving for 2 hours of the jacket...absolutely worth it!
I expect big things at the Shrine in a couple days.

a recording is up on archivist!!
despite icing my neck last night i have Pro-Moves™ Post-Show Neck today.
SO MUCH DANCING!
walter i'm sad to have missed you & c! i'll keep an eye for you at the shrine. i'm putting together a halloween costume directly inspired by c. in mexico!
this was the first show i've seen on the west coast swing and it really felt like being in the old neighborhood: jenn, ravi, holly, brian, enid, sarah, jen and barb were all nearby.
it's always fab to be near ravi at a show b/c he's got the best reactions. during TMpt2 the crowd was ecstatic, the band was having a great time. ravi shouted, "it's like a renaissance!" i had to agree
also: Fruit Bats! pure pop gems coming from EDJ and band. if you're thinking of missing them, reconsider. they don't come around often and are gorgeous. Bonus: banjo content!
