Who is going?
LD an I are in the GA pit up front. Josh should be there. Blucas, who doesn't seem to visit here much anymore, is bringing a shit-ton of newbies, I hear. We're gonna have a nice crew to rock out and ward off the talkers! It should be fairly spacious, I will venture to guess.
I am taking my teenage son - it's his first MMJ show and his is super excited! One of my brothers and a nephew, along with some friend, are going too. Should be a fun night!
This will be my first show. I am in the pit and Comerica is a great venue.
Also, check out these bars/restaurants before the show:
Valley Bar
Copper Blues
Bitter & Twisted
Crescent Ballroom has good burrito's
Wow, lots of first timers are gonna be at this show, nice! You all are sure to be blown away.
Good food and drink suggestions, too.
Pomo Pizzeria is also awesome for true Naples-style pizza.
See ya in the pit!
Funny enough my kid reminded me it is his second show. The two of us and my oldest do a guys road trip to Hogh Sierra Music Festival every year and saw them kill up there in 2011.
I'm a huge Pearl Jam fan and I'm still kicking myself for not seeing them when they opened for them back in early 2000's. I've seen PJ probably 15 times.
Hey Shug, here's hoping you get a Sloooooow Tune
Any updates/setlist after show would be much appreciated!
Have a good show!
Cheers,
Tippy
whats up Phoenix??
great show last night anyone have a picture of the setlist? :lipsrsealed:

Some MoF love!
Show was great. They played with their usual intensity. Changed up encore from what was on the setlist. It was a fun Tuesday night in Phoenix!
Some highlights for me included ending the set with Lay Low, Slow And Masterplan.
My son got Jim's setlist and only pic I have of it has him and my nephew in it, but As a lurker here and infrequent poster I do not know how to upload the pic. If someone can tell me how to do it, I will upload it.
Got the Slow Slow Tune! Thanks for the wishes, tippy, I'm sure that did the trick. And it was fricking epic. AGAIN. As was Masterplan and O Is The One. Bo took a KILLER honky tonk piano solo on Monster's of Folk song Right Place. I was shocked, never really noticed Bo playing like that before, I loved it! (along with his heavy Hammond organ sound on Masterplan and the gut-rumbling low notes in Victory Dance, which also had a super heavy dark jam). Bermuda Highway and Hopefully was a nice deviation from the setlist, which had Wonderful listed but was not played.
Not sure if this will work, from Facebook

Forgot O is the One. That was great too!
It was funny watching the crew bring out the mike stand before the encore and then come back two minutes later to remove it when they decided not to play Wonderful and instead did great versions of Bermuda and Hopefully.
And the poster is very cool too.

Bermuda/Hopefully>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Wonderful
Such a great catalog they can mix up the set list every night. With 22 songs did they end up over 2 hours?

Hell yeah! Looks like a good one Shug. Stoked you got the Slooooooow tune(again)!
Rest of the set looks like it just kept gettin better. RIGHT PLACE!?!(stoked/jelous) that's one of my fav MOF tunes. Think that's the first time this tour ?
Cheers,
Tippy
PS-Bermuda-Hopefully! Not to shabby.
I think everybody loves Bermuda, but I think Hopefully is in that category with slow tune for a lot of ppl. They don't realize they really wanted to hear it til they get it. Kinda a rare little gem.
when can we expect to see or hear a copy of the show. who tapped it?
Greetings all,
First time poster here.... Last night's Phoenix show was my first time seeing MMJ live... I really enjoyed it from the pit. The cover of 'The Right Place', 'Believe', 'Get the Point' and 'One Big Holiday' were my highlights. But everything was played powerful and precise. Acoustics at Comerica were great, so props to the crew for that.
MMJ played about 2 hours and 10 minutes.
I found a pic of the setlist from searching Instagram...credit to the person who uploaded it. Not sure how much deviation there was from the printed list to what was actually played.

Agreed on Bermuda/Hopefully>>>>>Wonderful
Show started at 8:40 and ended at 10:49, with a few minute encore break

Yep, all the new songs were played so well with tightness and power. Jacket are so damn good live they can even make lightweight 80s' pop rock like Compound Fracture and Believe sound like powerhouses with the thumping bass and drums and Carl rocking out all over the place, Bo laying down the cheesy synths and Jim falsetto soul-testifying over the top. They really killed it all night. The run from Tropics - Masterplan - I'm Amazed - Slow Slow Tune - Memories -Believe - O Is The One was especially blazing. Tropics has such a nasty dirty jam, I frickin' love it when they go guitar crazy like that, just heavy Sabbath-sounding sludge rock. My head gets why people don't like I'm Amazed but my soul just can't comprehend that. They played the shit out of it last night, it rocked so hard and so good with that mid tempo roots rock groove, it just gets me smiling every time. The smooth Philly soul of Only Memories Remain is a soothing pleasure, holy shit, how can they nail solid so many crazy diverse musical styles? I'll never get tired of O Is The One either with the ripping twin lead guitar part that Carl and Jim get into, frickin' awesome!
And then the sound like a modern version of the Band on Right Place before destroying with a heavy heavy Victory Dance and some good old party rock in OBH. Another goddamn solid rock show that begs the question if there is any other rock band in existence that is as good as Jacket? Maybe Wilco. Most don't have the years of experience in the craft of live rock performance, the depth and breadth of musical knowledge and the intangible ability to provide a transcendent ;live rock 'n roll experience.
I fuckin' love this band!
Who is Eric?
Eric is the lead singer of Fruitbats. They didn't do the planned duet with him on Wonderful (they did that in SF last weekend) instead played Bermuda and Hopefully.
Hola everybody. After 3 blistering shows (2 in vegas last week and then an end to MMJ's seven year Arizona hiatus last night) and a prod from my buddy Shug, I figured I'd leave a fingerprint in here. Hard to believe this could be true but the band is better than ever! Still glowing :)
A Blucas sighting, wow, now THAT is some rare shit! Ha ha ha! Great to rock out with ya last night!

Fuck Yes! Amen Brotha! Glad you had an amazing time! i was annoyed a little when i first heard the opening notes to Im Amazed at my show two weeks ago tonight, BUT I couldn't deny its power, its majesty. It is such an amazing song..I was truly and will always be...AMAZED
Welcome to all the new forum members and first-timers for the Jacket live! Quite a few of you in this thread, that's great to have you guys along.
Man, I am really jonesing for more Jacket, I so wish I was heading to Austin for tonight! Can't stop listening to live Jacket and I need more!
Would love to hear Steam Engine again since we didn't get that in PHX. How long has it been since they played Strangulation? Like Blucas told me, it almost doesn't matter what they play, they are playing so great right now, it's all gold.

Excellent point Blucas! And it looks like Strangulation got some love earlier this year, last played in August in St Louis.

Gotcha thanks.
This is a great show. Saw Red Rocks, SB, and LA. They were all pretty much all the same songs. This show has a fairly mainstream 2015 set, with jewels sprinkled throughout it. O is the One is the best recent version I have heard. Touch Me P2 is possibly the single best example of what MMJ is. It sounds like either the happiest song from The Wall, or the "popiest" song on Meddle. Best version I have heard. And last but not least, my most wished song to see this summer I missed. Hopefully. Acoustic. Damn I missed it in person, but great they finally played it in a recorded show. Archive.org
