Has MMJ stopped selling live recordings of each show?
Or is the only option to find a taper?
On <LiveDownloads.com> only this year's Red Rocks is available. I know things have changed since we got 2 free downloads at Red Rocks 2012, but man, I need to hear these Austin shows again.
they never offered all shows for purchase.
here's a list of the recordings for the 2015 tour

Archive.org is another place to look for older shows
I've got my code to dl a live show. What's recommended?

i'd probably get something from 2012 Capitol Theater shows or one of the Red Rocks
Thanks boys
I know the band has "listened" to fans' requests for more LiveDownloads releases, working towards that end as much as they can while actively touring. I would expect to see some releases before year's end.

hell yeah, Columbus 2012!! :)
The 2008 shows are REALLY good. Some rarities from EU, lots of old stuff, and nothing off the past 2 albums. After seeing MMJ 13 times since 2010, it is great to hear long high quality show recordings that are pre-Circuital.
Is there a big difference between the LiveDownloads recordings put out by the band, and the tapers on archive or dimeadozen? I assume they are better but not sure why or how much. Do sound board recordings plug right in to the amplified source?

The LiveDownloads releases often blend soundboard audio (what comes out of the speakers) with audience mics, but are mixed by the band and their sound engineer, so the quality is definitely better than most audience tapings.
Honestly, I'm baffled that anyone who posts to this Forum doesn't have all the available recordings from LiveDownloads. Each one has its merits, cover a lot of territory, and put some $ where it belongs, in the MMJ treasury. Seems the least we can do for a band that allows tapings at nearly all of their shows.

Am I missing something or did they take down a bunch of MMJ shows from livedownloads? The Bonnaroo shows seem to be gone plus a few others.

You're right. There were 2 or 3 Bonnaroo shows there. Hmmm...
Almost all of the Bonnaroo shows from basically every band that had previously been posted on the livebonnaroo.com website have been dropped from the LiveDownloads site.
for me, ive bought:
Nashvegas 2008 "a great How Do You Know"
Bonnaroo 2005
Agganis Arena 2012
& Red Rocks 2015 along with the live stream
not to mention Okonokos on DVD, vinyl and CD, every album on CD and a few on vinyl and yeah...rockin my MMJ official store It Still Moves shirt right now and feel fucking great about it
supporting this band makes shit happen. The more things we get to support them, the more touring that can happen or the more breaks they can have too cause they're human beings who need their rest, and things like Terminal 5 boxset or Okonokos II can happen! We're gonna be the ones helping to make it happen with our funding and stewardship of this band, so lets be proud of that guys, everyone on here does their part and it fills me with great pride to be a part of the coolest fanbase for any artist on the planet.
Jacket fans are special people
I can't stop listening to the Nashville 08. Amazing!
I wish they would release more, hopefully the Beacon shows are added. I've purchased every one as they come out. There is a serious lack of Waterfall songs from the live shows. They must be saving up for a big release of the Beacon shows. Anyone heard any more about this?
More are coming. They've been kinda busy until recently...

I agree with you in theory, but then there are people like me who go to see them a TON while they are touring and there is little cash left over for live downloads when the dust settles (35 Jacket shows since 2008, 13 in 2015 alone). The Beacon run I would buy, probably, but that's a pretty big exception. Tons of rarities, white whales....but that brings up another conundrum... I don't want to hear a white whale of mine on a recording. I would much rather experience it live for the first time so that all the nuances that come with the live version are fresh and unexplored. So that leaves the heavy hitting, extended jam type songs that are always changing and upgrading from night to night and tour to tour. Those I may pay for.
Here's a question: What is the most efficient way to support the band? What can I purchase that gives the highest percentage of the profits directly to the band? Maybe I should just consider a yearly donation when they aren't touring, lol.
Any word on any new live bootlegs on the horizon? I'm jonesing a bit for some fresh live Jacket...so many fantastic shows from the last tour. The Beacon run, or those Seattle shows....please fellas, anything will do. Thank you!!!
Brooklyn Bowl shows where kind to my ears! Soundboard release wouldn't make me mad. Si SeƱor!
I had a dream last night that T5 and the Beacon run all popped up on Livedownloads at the same time.
Needless to say, I woke up disappointed.
But seriously... where are they?

It's been quite a while. I can't wait to spend more money on more killer recordings! Bring 'em on! I got the money! Let's go!!!
With two RC memberships, you should also have two free downloads!
The lack of new downloads is odd, especially with the little bit of downtime the band has had recently. You'd think that would've been a good time to put some new shows out there. The only official recording from last year was RR, right?

OBH II as well.
Ah, that's right. I can't believe that was only a year ago. Feels like it was longer than that.

This reminded me that I should have two codes as well. My dashboard shows the code available from my RC March 2015 sign up, but nothing from my renewal this March 2016. Today I went to the RC purchase tab and noticed this very important detail "One free live show download redemption code*** ***Details TBD Is this the same for others? Thx p.s. for what it's worth, my dashboard is showing my 2016 membership as "Ready"...
I wonder if this year's Red Rocks shows will be put up. We've gotten every Red Rocks show since 2011 (although that one was through Roll Call, not Live Downloads).
I'm still hoping for Beacon, butI feel resigned to the fact that they have determined that is going to be a more "official" live release, and it will take somebody in management forever to get around to it and it will just be forgotten about...

Would love to have a recording of the show they just did at Shaky Knees.
Crap, I had a download code that may have expired (that I thought was good until the end of 2016). How can I tell if I still have a code in Roll Call?
I think I might be in the same boat. In March I had 2 download codes that said they expired at the end of 2016. Now I dont see them anywhere on the dashboard. Anybody know where they might be?
What a bummer, especially since they haven't really posted anything new other than Red Rocks last year (although that was an EPIC set).
Other than the initial push, where Red Rocks 2012 and Port Chester were released very shortly after they were played, most of these shows have been released in a down cycle for the band's activities. The whole archive series came about when the band was on a little break from touring, the OBH events were followed by a few months of downtime during which shows could be mastered, etc. I just don't think the Jacket has a big enough operation to pump these things out with regularity when it's a more active period for the band. And between the Waterfall, the Waterfall tour, this spring tour, the ISM re-issue, and recording a new album, not to mention solo albums and touring with Ray, they have certainly been active the last year. It's a bummer that releasing more shows isn't a priority for them right now, but it's nice that we've had so many other Jacket happenings.
I've been playing the shit out of RR2015 lately. I'm JONESIN' for another recent show, jonesin' REAL BAD! Only one official release post-Waterfall is torture. The sleek segues, the new arrangements and choice covers necessitate more recent shows!! Please!

I emailed Wonderful Union and sent me the code I was missing but said they weren't sure why it disappeared from my Dashboard.
Thanks DayDrinkin. I was thinking that would be the case. As long as they still have the code then I wont complain. Fingers crossed for some new shows being released.
Red Rocks will certainly be released, I mean why NOT?!?!?!? WHY NOT!??!?! Even if they're preparing additional official live releases (OKONOKOS II BABY)
Finally got my free 2016 Roll Call download code yesterday. Made me jump on the site immediately thinking something new was added. Silly wishful thinking.
Still waiting...
I've inquired as to the prospect of some new shows being added. As I've said, I have two "free" download codes and at least one will expire at year's end. I already have all of the shows available on LiveDownloads, so... I'll let you know what I find out.
Just a heads-up here, the codes are only good for mp3 downloads, not flacs.
only reason I can see for them having not released anything new/recent at all is to get the fans salivating for new live stuff...and ready to throw down dollars when this new live album happens. Pretty smart strategy if that is actually the case.

Yeah, thanks Crispy. The first couple of years, I just gave my codes away to somebody, since I had gotten the FLAC-HD ones instead. Then, last year, johnnYYac said you could apply the money (around $10) to the cost of the more expensive FLAC's. It worked for me. When I cashed out, I only had to pay the few dollars difference.
I sure hope they do release a couple of shows soon.
Hmm, I tried it with flacs in my cart and redeeming the code at checkout, and nothing happened. Maybe something changed with that, or it's glitchy. It sure would be nice to get some new shows on there!

I can see this being the case, although it feels misguided to me. I think MMJ probably has two types of fans - those who are diehard and are going to buy everything regardless, and those more casual fans who probably don't even know that the live downloads series exist, but would come across and purchase a more "official" live album. It just doesn't feel like they are at risk of cannibalizing their own sales based on the fan base.
But if that is the case - I'd like to see them release a Jim James show from his solo tour while we wait for the official MMJ release. I know we have the Sleep No More show, which is great, but I would really like a show that features the encore with the MOF/New Multitudes material.

meh...Jim's solo shit is awesome but.....the way the Jacket does Jim solo? when I hear the Jacket doing State of The Art it's like....what's the point, Jim? Why do you need any other vehicle? It's about the Jacket for me, man.

Has anyone ever gotten an answer as to why they stopped doing this? I know they've been releasing the OBH shows which I'm super grateful for, but I'm wondering why they stopped at that. They released a 2008 show in 2015, so I would assume they're capable of releasing older shows from the archives.
Not touring is one thing. Ceasing to release "new" music is another. I'm just curious if anyone knows why they stopped. It was so awesome when a new show would pop up randomly. I really really miss that.

I wish I knew. Carl mentioned putting up his 10/7/18 Nashville show on Nugs, but still hasn't done so and I really wish he would.
live show releases tend to be tied to the scale of venue, whether it sells out early and the amounts the promoter, label and band are willing to invest. OBH has built-in budget for capturing soundboards and getting them edited for release in a couple months' time. (Ryan Pickett can probably speak to this more specifically, especially since he's the guy that ultimately cleans the stuff up for release).
Yeah and I truly don't know about the logistics of all that. I just know I'd still pay $10-15/show if they were just straight soundboard rips. A lot of bands who I assume aren't as lucrative as MMJ release more shows.
Hopefully Red Rocks this year gets released! 2016 was my first and only time to Red Rocks and I kinda got my hopes up that it'd be released since 2012 and 2015 were. That being said, Pat Myers is a God and his audio/video is always on point. Lockn was webcast, but I would love to have audio that I could stream on my phone.
Take my money (and not my drugs), MMJ!
