The Boston NYE show wasn't announced till September, which makes me think this might be early for a New Years announcement.
Butttttttt the 2008 NYE was announced in June. Which means we're right on time! And that I have solved absolutely nothing.
Where have all the previous NYE shows been?
Maybe it's just the Okonokos vinyl. Perhaps there are bonus tracks associated or something of that nature.

Well NYC is probably out. Phish has had a hold on MSG since 2009 or they would have to take a smaller venue. Boston didn't even come close to selling out so I don't know if they would go back there.
So really anywhere else is probably open.
I'm so excited right now...what could it be!! I honestly doubt it's a 4th of July thing, that would be REALLY short notice.....
A NYE announcement would be AWESOME but if it was anywhere that I would need to travel I doubt I would make it, given the expense for OBH, but I would be pumped for anyone that could go. Or live album, or a little fall tour... ok ok so basically ANYTHING will be awesome :drum:

Not NYC proper but there's the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and the Prudential Center in Newark if they want to play an arena in the NYC Metro area.

A live album would be my best guess, but hoping for a bunch of new tour dates in the fall. Couldn't quite spend the dough on OBH3 but traveling in the States would seem like a bargain.

They are just looking out for their own. I'm disappointed in the moment, because the teaser got me thinking about very big MMJ things, but had MMJ not done this teaser, a lot of people would never know about Carl's solo album. Which, btw, the first single sounds pretty good to me.
A new Carl album is great news and I will certainly purchase it. Loved the last one!
But yeah, I had my hopes high on a new Live comp.

Really? A central news source for all things MMJ related is ideal in my opinion.
I think it's great! I love Carl's "All Birds Say" record. Real quality pressing too.

My only complaint is that he's selling his album using Wonderful Union, and I can't justify paying $7+ for shipping.

And on top of it his 1st solo LP is a beautifully produced, well pressed, vinyl beauty!!!

First of all, nobody knew what his album was called prior to seeing the fireworks post. The fireworks post was a teaser for the forthcoming announcement. So at the time of seeing the fireworks, there was no knowing. Sure, it's obvious now that we have all the info.
Secondly, nobody is not excited to hear Carl's solo album. The teaser just ratcheted up excitement for what could have potentially been big MMJ news. Which, on an MMJ forum, my guess is most people consider them their favorite band and would respond most excitedly to news about the band. It's ultimately on us for letting ourselves get carried away with the possibilities of the teaser, but in the moment it was mildly disappointing when considered against the other things that were discussed in this thread. In a vacuum, a Carl Broemel album is nothing but great news.

On the real though, the Carl tune is good. Sounds like this will be a cool album. That said, I can see how people are disappointed. A cryptic message on MMJ's Instagram would make people get excited for new MMJ. I love Jim and Carl solo stuff but come on...MMJ is next level. Still hopeful a new MMJ live album is on the horizon.
