somebody on another board is asking whether there are any tapes from any shows in a jim james/m. ward/conor oberst tour. I'm not aware of the tour, but I've only been listening to MMJ now for a little over a year (and what a year!). Anyway, anybody know about these? Thanks.
Indeed there are. I posted two shows, I believe, in the M.Ward thread in the Other Music forum a while back. I guess the links would still be there?
great! thanks. I'll check that out.
No problem. The tour was called "Monsters of Folk." Let me know if you need more help with these.
I found the links you had posted, but they all say they have expired due to inactivity. Any way you could put them up again? I would also love to hear them.
More help would be great. I couldn't find the links.
Give me a couple days and I'll be able to get it up again. Or if you have AIM, we could do a file transfer quicker than uploading the links again. Let me know.
I'd like ot get these too.

thanks! I do not have AIM, nor do I know what it stands for.

That would be rad. Never even seen a setlist from these shows, and who sings with who on songs. Thank you.

Thank you very much! Do we know the dates of these shows?
I believe they should be on the file names, but I am not at the comp with them. Have the links worked?
Yes, both links have worked.
In itunes, the first show doesn't give a date, but the second show says 2/28/2004 in Providence, RI.
I'm enjoying these tracks a whole lot. Would it be too much trouble to ask for you to re-up the other songs that you have?
thanks. the links worked for me, too. I just haven't unzipped and looked at the file content. thanks again.
Sweet, glad they work....the other date says 10/09/2004.
Yeah, I can upload those other songs, too...I also have a video of Jim playing "You Were Always On My Mind."
Wow, thank you for these!
QuoteWow, thank you for these!
yes, thanks! these are great!
Thanks alot, these tapes sound great loud.
"You are all arrested. Arrested for being awesome." ;D
Finally got a chance to listen to these. great! thanks broken down bus.
No problem everyone. These shows are good and glad everyone is liking them. Did anyone else see this tour live? It was great seeing them all on stage for the whole show. Ward, Oberst and James would play like 3 songs alone and the rest with them all joining in. It was awesome. Plus, no set breaks. The show was just continuous.
I'll get the tracks from the Pittsburgh show up here before the weekend.

I saw it and taped (most of) it- missed one or two songs by M Ward at the very beginning, I think. I got almost everything else -mine is from 10/9/04, Fort Worth, Texas. If you don't have that one, I can probably find it. Jim sang 'Always on my Mind' and they did 'Billy 4' or 'Billy (Main Title Theme), or whatever the actual title is.
I don't know what Bright Eyes songs they played, but I did like them. Jim stole the show, in my opinion. He did (from memory here) Death is the Easy Way (with Will Johnson of Centro-matic and South San Gabriel), The Bear, One in the Same, I Can't Wait, and others. If you need my copy I can send it out (once I find it!) - it's a decent quality recording for my stuff.

Correction: the real date was October 8, 2004, not October 9!!

For posters, reviews and an occasional setlist, check the 2004 page of my My Morning Jacket live archive 1999-2004 (http://www.magnix.demon.nl/mmj/archive/).
As for recordings of these shows (there were of course two tours, one in February and one in October, see the link above), I do have the 2/28/04 one and Low Dog's 10/8/04 recording. I also have a disc that is labeled 2/20/04 - I think I got that one from Low Dog as well (could that be right George?) ... And probably I also got some random tracks somewhere.
I will get to these shows in due time as part of my work on the Magnix MMJ Live Recordings Archive. However, maybe someone is already able to compile a list of what is known to be in circulation of these two tours?
On another note, I'm not sure if these shows will be allowed on the Live Music Archive ...

That's probably right, Ger. I remember trading for another show, possibly Minneapolis? And that they had the entire show - not sure of the exact date, but I could check into it. I just had my show (Oct 8, 2004) and that other show from those tours, but I'm really glad that I saw them...just Jim's performance alone was well worth the price of admission!

Man, I still need to upload tracks from the Pittsburgh show. I am down for listening to any recording from these tours that anyone has.

Dudes, having trouble downloading the torrent. I have most of these songs from other MOF shows, but that Where To Begin looks mighty tempting. If someone could make it available through other means I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
I would love to get the 2/20/04 Monsters of Folk recording but I can not sign up for the torrent community. Anyone else got it?
thanks!

Same for me. I've tried multiple times over the past few days but they keep saying it's full.
You can download the whole thing at the following link. The individual song links don't work but if you download the whole thing with the zip file link it works great. Check out the version of Vincent O'Brien with JJ singing backup.
