Title: Australian/New Zealand shows...
Post by: nickdavies7 on Jan 13, 2009, 11:58 PM
Hi guys and gals,

I am enquiring if anyone is going to be taping any of the shows on this leg of the tour, or, at least knows anything about them.

I am only attending the one at Billboards in Melbourne, unfortunately i have no equipment, let alone experience.

We can't rely on radio stations, or Big Day Out telecasts...unless, they show video footage of the entire set at BDO, and then take the audio???

Also, is anyone part of the Neil Young forums? As you may already know MMJ are opening for him in Melbourne and Sydney, so there can be a distinct possibility of scoring those shows also.

Thanks

Nick D

I doubt we're going to have any luck with this.
Channel [V] will probably show some highlights though.

Don't be so negative man ;)  there are tapers in Sydney etc who will do Neil Young and probably MMJ.

I did the Brisbane show tonight and a few songs on Sunday at BDO.  I'll post links in 24 hrs or so.

Here are the first few songs form the BDO set last Sunday.  forgive the erratic right channel in the first 20 seconds or so.

The Neil Young support set later tonight.

I have updated my blog http://turnitupto10.blogspot.com/ and it includes a preview of one trackas well as the above download link.

Just confirming that they had triple j cameras there at the metro in Sydney last night. I doubt they grabbed the whole show (saw em disappear every now and then), but there's a good chance at least part of the show will end up as a triple j live music special on abc2 or something. ;)

The Metro Theatre tapes most (all?) shows that are at their venue, so I suspect the cameras were theirs and not triple j's.  There's a site where these videos are streamed - I'll post a link if I can find it.

Site is here - http://www.moshcam.com

MMJ not up yet, looks like it takes them about 7-10 days minimum to get the shows up.

The reason i said triple j was that each of the camera people were wearing the same triple j t-shirts. :)

Well Channel V's coverage of Big Day Out is very over rated. Most of the time is the presenters speaking crap or doing stupid stuff, and it leaves very little time for interviewing bands and showing live acts.
They have Big Day In on Channel V in late Feb, and you sit around all day waiting for them to show a band you like.

I bet people have other opinions but that is mine. I am not trying to be negative, i am just stating the facts...

Peace Out

Found this on the JJJ website:

about triple j presents...
triple j does live music better than anyone else in the country. We've been broadcasting live gigs across the airwaves on Live At The Wireless for as long as anyone can remember.

In 2009, triple j tv brings you a series of concerts - filmed exclusively by us - straight to your telly. Bags your front-row seats to some of the hottest gigs in the country, including TV On The Radio, Josh Pyke, My Morning Jacket plus loads more.

and this is my second...

As I am a nice guy. Here is MMJ on Triple J TV from last week, I think the quality is pretty good, I'm still working out the kinks with the system I'm using.  Let me know what you think, I will try record/upload the 30mins ABC will play later in the year, until then, here is Anytime.

Hi Nice Guy. Welcome and thanks for posting this. The quality is awesome.
Do you know when ABC is gonna play the other songs they taped?

I think I'm the only person who still checks this thread but whatever.
To Aussie fans, Triple J is broadcasting some of the Metro show on Sunday May 10. It was on last Monday but I missed it.
Link: http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/live/

For people outside Aus, I think the recording will (Hopefully- pun totally intended) end up on the JJJ website soon enough. :)

Awesome! Thanks for the heads up :)

They have previous recordings steaming on the website, so I'd assume this will be added later on.
