I can't remember who got this show to me or where I found it but the show notes are right on... it's a badass performance!

DOWNLOAD IT NOW at the archive...

Jim James solo acoustic
Space 101
Blommington Fest - Jagjaguwar Showcase
Bloomington, IN
September 1, 2001

Gear: Sony MZ-R70 with Sound Professionals condensor microphones and battery box
Original transfer: MD > Delta 1010 > Sound Forge > Nero
FLAC
Transfer: CD-R > xACT for OSX (WAV ripping and FLAC encoding)

The original MD was misplaced, so I had to rip from my CD-R.
No artwork included.

1. The Way That He Sings

2. Bermuda Highway

3. Just Because I Do

4. Lil Billy

5. I Will Be There When You Die

6. Nashville To Kentucky

The first two songs were not recorded. I had never heard My Morning Jacket or Jim James,
and after being blown away by the first two songs realized that I needed to record the rest
of the show.

Space 101 is/was located above a Blimpie's Subs in downtown Bloomington.
The room was genearly used as an art gallery at the time. There were wood floors and no acoustical treatments.
Combine that with the fact that Jim James kept asking the sound guy to add more reverb to his voice,
and you get a very cool sounding recording. For any other artist, this wouldn't sound good, but it fits
perfectly with James' sound.
At the end of the performance, James pushes his acoustic guitar into the vocal
microphone to make a lot of noise. Somebody in the audience yells, "unnecessary," and the crowd gets quiet.
I'd say his comment was unnecessary.

Supporting acts: Nad Navillus, Parker Paul and Spokane (all Jagjaguwar Artists).

2nd call for anyone who is sitting on a tape that isn't on the archive... let me know about it and we can get it up for everyone to hear.

Alright, here it is.  There was a DVD of this show that Kory and I got a hold of.  It contained a version of Dylan's "I'll B Yr BB Tonite" (Jim's spelling) and portions of a Richie Valens cover.  I went ahead and included the DVD rip of the Dylan track in there for yas. Unfortunately we never got a full version of the Valens song. Enjoy!

Sorry, it's just on sendspace.  Archive ups are too much of a pain in my ass.

It's pretty good.  The person had permission and set up and everything but I wouldn't call it proshot.  I don't know if I have the time/capabilities to share it right now, though.  Maybe when things slow down for me and I get more familiar with my Mac, I'll share it.
