Title: Jebus?
Post by: my_evening_jacket on Sep 30, 2003, 10:19 AM
"to anyone who wondered
what old jebus meant to me
take him out to go diving
in red patoka sea"

Is Jebus a Simpsons reference?  Or where did this come from?
If you do a google search for Jebus you will be amazed
2 bands named Jebus that I saw
+ there's a Jebus sings (which I can't hear 'cause I am at work)

....the fact that my heart's beating
is all the proof you need

Hmmm....I've wondered what that means too.  Interesting point...

That song just blows my fucking mind every time.  Absolutely beautiful.

I assumed it was from the Simpsons - that episode where Homer becomes a missionary.  "help me, Jebus!"

Patoka Lake is in Indiana... a quick yahoo search on it says that iron and manganese stain the rocks red and brown.

It's definitely my favorite track from the album. I thought it was about a relationship, maybe a relationship gone/going wrong, so perhaps Jebus is some nickname for a former lover? It's not as clear as 'Rollin'Back' though, wich is definitely about a break-up... Hmm, I'll have to read the lyrics a little more careful, perhaps.
