okay, just zoning out on some of this and wondering if you guys dig the killer vocals...i know i am!
Of course!
When I first heard this song...The first line in, I thought..."holy shit! this will be one of my faviorte bands forever!"
but then again that happend with all MMJ songs I heard...hahaha....
but this song did touch me and by then end it's like...how can you not be caught up in it?
it's cry-worthy....that's if you cry though...I don't cause I am a big strong 19 year old man!
awwwwwwwwwwwwww cmon you know you cry sometimes, right? :)
definitely dig it, one of my personal mmj favorites.
this one and "I will sing you songs" are my 2 favorite JJ vocal exercises
Best Vocal performance Jim has recorded as of yet, in my oppinion.

Yeah I do..................when my balls are caught in a snowblower.....
snowblower?!
Yikes!
I put on this song just b/c of this thread - I hadn't listened to it in awhile. Right on about those vox.
Plus, some of the best lyrics Jim's written.
Hahaha yeah...I gotta work on that.

Me, too. When it came on the other night at the bar, I got teary.
Man, I feel like I say "me, too" a lot about the songs that make people cry. I don't cry very much, honestly.
Last night me and my brother jammed a bunch of stuff, and one was Bermuda Highway, and it was reeeeeally nice. I made him tell me "The Story of Bonaroo" again. And we think we found his head in one of the crowd shots.
What was the story of bonnaroo? If it's too long to tell, don't worry about it...but i'm so intrigued for some reason now. :)
Ah yes. I was there too my friend. For the first half of the set, my friends and I (and i'm sure the rest of the crowd, and especially the band) were watching the storm come in. And it was so incredible when it started raining...Jim got so much more intense. It was like the rain, and the possibility of dying, didn't phase him or the band at all. CRAZY show; still ranks as my #1 live show I've ever seen. The musical and theatrical elements of it combined into one unstoppable force. But I didn't have the up front place like you...lucky stiff:)

Haha, don't worry. I've said worse stuff than that.
Bermuda Highway is an interesting mix--first Jim sings about being drawn in by an ass (tittilating) then he's singing about a meek guy (Jesus?) with a short, bitter fucked up life, mindbending...
not for sure but the "Meek" part sticks with from the sermon on the mount ("the meek shall inherit the earth")
true, but He still wasn't bitter at all.
maybe it's somebody more recent. Or Jim is just toying with us, writing lyrics that really don't mean much of anything big, just maybe a small personal experience of his own.

True Jesus wasn't bitter himself but his life was and he was human so I bet there was some bitterness tied in with his nervousness in the Garden when he wanted the cup (his destiny) taken from his lips
very true. i think most of us would be pretty bitter being put in a situation like that.
so we are in quasi agreement :D I love it when a plan comes together!
I dont know why, but for some reason I always picture Will Oldham when he sings thats part.
Oh and hello everyone...its been awhile. I've been lurking.

Hey Papa Joe--long time no post :D
Yeah no kidding. I was taking a break, I guess. Resting like The Jacket.
