maybe I've mentioned this before, but if you listen to this tune and it doesn't melt your heart into a puddle of squishy remains, you're either dead or heartless. wow, what a feeling it projects. flawless.
and it's not a radio hit because....
well said, John.
I was just listening to this song while washing dishes. The live solo version from London 4 Feb '03 is beautiful, just Jim and electric guitar. But it cuts off just before the end. I got it off the FTP - has anyone else had this problem, or did it just mess up when I downloaded it?

wow revealing post there Mr. Domestic ;). If you're talking about Jim's gig at the garage, yeah that whole set is f'd up none of the tracks play all the way through and I still can't figure why--it pisses me off because I really like the version of "Everybody's Talkin'" Jim starts to play >:(
lemme check on that. bringing that damn wasted hard drive here to the (ahem) new provider tomorrow, I swear.

Damn,and I thought it was just the copy I made.Thanks for that,I feel better now,that bugged me forever.
ok ill bite, at the risk of sounding like a moron(dont bother quoting and going on about that) ive listened to that song at least five billion times. what the hell is it about?
sex.
love. joy. emotion. pure feeling between two people.
Quotesex.
somebody's fired up ::)
::)now...
what ever could you have meant by that?
:-*
uh....(blushes)
;Dbet that doesn't happen often.
topic bump! listening to this masterpiece right now, and just pondering its beauty and musical perfection. i am in awe of its awesomeness. more thoughts?
My thought is that I need to get that damn record - ever since you first talked about that song I've wanted to hear it.
Damnation, guys, what an awesome song. On the Sweatbees EP, I'm not sure there is better follow-up song to OITOTIR....
I thought it was a Todd Rundgren cover the first couple times I'd heard it...it sounded so familiar before I even knew the song...a lot of their stuff does that to me...that's why I like this band so much.
Well.
This song and this band will forever remind me of tenderness...even when they rock out! I love them so...and am so very fond of the man who introduced their music to me.
Special place in my soul for both. :)
i just got the Split EP yesterday. I love this song. I want to to cover it at a coffee house or something. My only question is, it doesn't sound liek he's saying "send off with you" but more like "be off with you". I can't figure this out because neither way really makes all that much sense to me. It's an awesome song, but that one bit int he lyurics has me a little confused.
Well, if it IS in fact about waiting all day to sleep with someone that you're really excited about... you could imagine that "send off" or "be off" (be being the "be" like "I am") is a metaphor.. Is this making sense without me getting too graphic?
or, alternately, if you're the kind of person who has to be in the spotlight all the time, then you might feel like you're constantly being "on". Not in the fake sense, but, you know, you can't really just sit in a corner and be quiet if you're getting interviewed or photographed all the time. So maybe he meant that he's just looking forward to being "off" with a person that he could be that with.
(I prefer the sexy version.) I hear the word "be" instead of "send", too.
I concur its definitely daydreaming about impending hot sex
They should put out an EP of a new sexy song that includes "Come Closer" and "Bermuda Highway". ;) heh heh...
sounds like a great weekend plan 8)
it sounded more to me like just a relaxing, taking off the shoes and kicking back by a fire kind of thing more than impending steaminess. I guess that's the brilliance of open-ended ambiguity. ;D
Ahhh, my favorite MMJ song.
In fact, the 3 songs on this EP are 3 of my favorites, because they are all so diffrent from each other.
But Come Closer is just one of the greatest songs ever writen by man. The way the guitar plays that gorgeous(sp?) melody during the chorus will Jim sings Come Closer....man... I just melt every time I hear it. Shivers down my spine, I say.
