Title: John Leckie does Good Reverb:
Post by: fitzcarraldo on May 03, 2005, 09:16 PM
I know I'm unoriginal, ha but C'mon Wow!!! Amazing choice of co-producer (Hi Fi), and Stand Up Guy (John left Abbey Road Studios to go freelance in 1978, due to EMI's policy of not letting it's staff work on projects unconnected with either EMI or Abbeo)!
For those not introduced yet (but you probably have in some way or the other...)
Credits include:
George Harrison, All Things Must Pass, Apple, 1970, Tape Operator/Engineer

John & Yoko Lennon, Plastic Ono Band 1, Apple, 1970, Tape Op

Badfinger, No Matter What, Apple, 1970, Tape Op

Paul McCartney, Red Rose Speedway, 1972, Apple, Engineered

Chris Speeding, The Only Lick I Know, 1973, EMI, Engineer

Mott the Hopple, Mott, 1974, mixed/engineer

Be-Bop Deluxe, Axe Victim, 1974, Mixed/Engineered

Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon, EMI, 1974, engineer

Be Bop Deluxe, Sunburst Finish, 1975, co-produced with guitarist/singer Bill Nelson

The Doctors Of Madness, Pigments of Emancipation, 1975, Polydor, producer

Pink Floyd, Wish You Were Here, 1975, EMI, mixed/engineered

& then (shorter, but way abridged list):

The first Stone Roses album
The first and reverb laden, glorious Verve record (A Storm in Heaven)
The Bends
Spiritualized
Cowboy Junkies
The new Longwave record (recorded at the same complex,)
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
The new My Morning Jacket record!
Wow...seems like everything but Low and Mark Kozelek! "nudge nudge...wink wink...say no more."
:D  Looking forward to the finished product. Bravo MMJ! Peace, sean

That is quite a list.  It could have ended with "All Things Must Pass" and I would have been freaking out.  I think it's one of the best recorded albums of all time. "Dark Side Of The Moon"!!!!  I can barely contain my anticipation for this record.

Can you imagine being in the studio with that guy?

"I think you need..."
"...Whatever you want..."

No word yet.  I'm thinking we'll know something soonish, but that is just a hunch...

Please don't forget Muse's first album Showbiz, The Stone Roses-Second Comming and didn't he do work with A-HA? It sounds familiar. I love John Leckie, he's my fav.  It's nice to see that others appreciate his career!
