I got a bunch of covers on that cover compilation cd from aMillionDreams, and theres some great shit that hasnt really been put out. My two faves so far being Blue Moon (for its shear absurdity) and Pink Floyd's "Mother" because it feels so damn heartfelt. It sounds like Jim is fightin back tears on this one. That or something. It's really damn moving.
Also, Suspicious Minds is very cool.
I love Jim's old swanky "This is from our 1987 compilation record..." voice.
I haven't heard Dreams CD. But I will say that Jim's take on "Easy like Sunday Morining" is one of my favorite covers he's ever done. He doesn't even know the whole song so he just does the first verse twice, but it's priceless.
I love the Suspicious Minds cover. I love that song. (I think I've said this before, but By My Car reminds me of that song.)
I also really like Dream a Little Dream. :)
Where could one find a copy of "Easy like sunday morning" or some of the other covers?
you can send me a pm if you want to set up a trade for the comp disc they're talking about. The tracklist is as follows:
1. Suspcious Minds (Elvis, Jim solo '00)
2. Up on Cripple Creek > Blue Moon of Kentucky (Jim solo '00)
3. Easy
4. O Holy Night (Jim solo '01)
5. Dream a Little Dream of Me (Jim Solo, WFPK broadcast)
6. Never Tear Us Apart (INXS cover, Jim solo '02)
7. Peaceful Easy Feeling (Eagles cover, Jim solo '02)
8. Black Sabbath
9. Everybody's Talkin
10. That's Alright
11. Ring of Fire (Johnny Cash cover)
12. I Still Miss Someone (Johnny Cash cover)
13. Time of the Season (Zombies cover)
14. Be Here to Love Me (Townes Van Zant cover)
15. Girl From the North Country (Jim and Bright Eyes)
16. The Man in Me (acoustic from Live Lunch)
17. This Magic Moment
I have some other covers of theirs that I can put add to the list, but all these perfectly fit onto one disc.
btw, my personal favorite is 'O Holy Night', but 'Man in Me' and 'Dream a Little Dream' are amazing as well.
Oh yeah. O Holy Night is retarded. (Is that the one where he has to take his shoes off?)
I played it at my Christmas party. Everybody. stopped. and. listened.
And it was a bizzzzy party.
:)
haha, that was awesome. Nobody stops a song to take their shoes off! I grinned hard while listening to that.
Anyone know where a copy of the ACL w/ Jim, M.Ward, and Conor could be found?

Hmmmmm, I remember it kicking around somewhere... shoot, maybe it was the ftp. Hm. Hmmm.
I have a couple of live versions (I think) at home. I think I have Girl from the North Country and... something else... You Were Always on my Mind.
I could share if you'd like. I think it's all Jim, though. I haven't listened in a while so I don't remember...
that song "i can't wait" that jim played during this tour is really awesome.
i know this has nothing to do with the thread.. but..

Yeah! I wonder what happened to that...
Woah! What is that? I've never heard of it... an original or what?
yeah, "I Can't Wait" is an original that he did a lot in 2003. Every version I've ever heard has been solo acoustic. There used to be a link to an mp3 of the song on the forum but I couldn't find it. Anyone know where that is?

It is on their ftp server, its free to sign up. Or I could just email an mp3 if anyone wants it.

Yer link's not working for me, Tyler...

my webhost is kinda weird sometimes
Mmmmm nice. I have this version at home, but it's nice to listen to at work. :)
Yay!
nice little song! it would be fun to hear this one live.
thanks!
Regarding covers... this is some old school stuff... MMJ played "HOw the Gods Kills by Danzig" regularly for one tour.. I think in 2002. Does anyone have this on the FTP or recorded that I can get? I've got a but load of shit to trade or whatever if someone will help a brother out...!
Your loyal jacketness,
Dwight
Very nice, very nice! :) Thanks Tyler Hastings!
