so yeah. it came in the mail today. I'm just about to put it on.
secret song is Chills. yesss.....
you suck! let me know how you like it (which i'm sure you will) but also how good "chills" is.
oh man.....
Wordless Chorus is leaving me....wordless(?)
still
ah you gotta give a live song by song review now
I got Chills on the Japanese release.
Like it a lot but you can see why it's a secret/bonus track as it doesn't fit so well.
That said, I've gotten used to it sat on the end there...
haha, ok fine.
Well, It Beats 4 U is very cool. I like the whistling. And also, Gideon frickin rocks. But they're both very short. And I've been IM'ing people, so I kind of lost focus on those. But I've heard It Beats 4 U form live versions.
I'm on What A Wonderful Man now. HAHAHA the end of that song is amazing. Also very short. Here comes Off The Record.
We've all heard this one, but I'll see if I can throw any new observations your way. I might mention that my system is easily 30 years old, so it's a little lacking. I'm starting to love the choice of reverb on this one. And I think Bo's keys add so darn much to the whole shebang.
dude, the backtracked vocals sound soooo German.
Quoteoh man.....
Wordless Chorus is leaving me....wordless(?)
still
it sounds like Prince
I mean that the best way possible.
damn damn damn damn
mine hasn't come yet, have fun though Eisey

Isn't it?!!
For me it's one of the defining moments on Z.
The band really sound like they're having fun, right?
woah. into the woods sounds so delectable. all kinds of animals and screaming kids overdubbed and then this freakishly evil circus organ chimes in.
crazy slide overdubs too.
this is so fun. all i've heard is the live acoustic version.
i can't wait to see the lyrics from all this. My stereo set-up is not doing all this justice.
oh wow. There's an entire choir of people at the end. Remember Jim's little humming at the end with that interesting melody right before it ends? They've got a huge crazy choir for that. Oh man. Oh man.
That's the end of the second side.
Oh man.
oh man. I loved Anytime from the first preview I heard of it. I love the reverse reverb leading into the beginning of the vocals.
I can see this song getting the album somewhere popularly.
"Is this climbin up to the moon?"
a lot of the harmonies on this album remind me a lot of Flaming Lips harmonies from here and there on the Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi.
Gosh I love this song. What a solid album.
when Lay Low hits the halfway point turn it up really really loud.

Jim literally throws himself into the opening line!
Is this "climbing up TOOO the moon?"
LAY LOOOOWWW!!!
yesss...
actually thinking back on all that I've heard before. I really would prefer it if they had jammed out a little further on stuff like Gideon and Anytime. I did like how they dragged stuff out on It Still Moves. It gave the songs so much atmosphere. That said, I'm totally diggin on Lay Low.
Oh man.....harmonized leads. This album is perfect. This is the kind of jam i had been lookin for on this album. Hopefully they'll extend some of the other songs out a bit more live. Man, Bo really throws it down. I love what he adds. And Patrick does not cease to deliver. What a great song.
i love the sound of Knot Comes Loose. The production on this song is sooo cool. Very very cool song.
end of side 3.
on to Dondante and chills!
Dondante....
I love how clean the production of the drums is, and how the guitar is barely just in this song at the beginning. And the reverb on this song is Perfect.
Holy shit.
HAHAHAHAHA
chills is hilarious. This belongs on the Christmas album almost. Compared to the B-side version I've heard, this is hilarious. I love it.
I might also add, parts of this really remind me of Jeff Wayne's musical adaptation of The War of the Worlds from 1978. Amazing record.
And wow...darn glad to have this in my collection of LPs.
