Title: Sweatbees
Post by: Oz on Oct 06, 2005, 02:25 AM
So, everyone´s into Z, I thought I´d start talking about an EP everyone´s already forgotten about...` :)

The thing is, the Sweatbees EP is still missing from my collection, partly because I never found it anywhere yet - not somewhere you could buy it without a credit card, that is - and I figured I already had all the tracks so I didn´t need it anyway. But now I´ve found a Dutch site where I can the 8-track version. Only it´s 22 euro, wich is, I believe, more or less the same amount in dollars. Wich is a shitload of money for a couple of songs I already have. It´s just that I think the front cover is so beautiful.

So, for all of you that have this: is the artwork worth 22 euros or is it better to keep my money in my pocket and save it for those rare Z-singles that will appear that will, no doubt, also be very hard to get and unbelievably expensive?

as of 2005.10.06 16:09:28 UTC,
22.00 EUR       =       26.6956 USD

I would gladly pay that to get an old school 8-track tape of MMJ! ;) Brings back memories of cruising in my buddy's Datsun hitting that program button trying to get to that one song...

I think you are talking about the Australian version which has 9 tracks instead of 5....I have the aussie version and it is much better than the other one.Everyone has the extra songs but it's good to have them all on one CD.

Hereis a link to buy it online for $24.29 US funds:

Yes,it is worth it,It's my fav cover and maybe my fav album.

Me too!  I could put it away with that 7" Off the Record single I got with my purchase of Z.  I have no means of playing either anymore.

I meant that the website where I found it said it has 8 tracks. Hmm, I'm still not sure, though...

This is the only thing I don't have - if you have everything else (Chocolate & Ice EP & Split EP + the Albums) you have these tracks already right?
Are the versions any different?

sweatbees occasionally pops up on E-bay where, unless you're up against another overzealous MMJ fan, you can get it for a lot cheaper. Both versions are up for sale on E-bay right now... as is a drum head signed by the band.

I found it at Amoeba records while in san Francisco! I think that a lot of these independent record shops get copies in...keep looking when you can  and also on ebay!

hey, I just found one on amazon:

I recently bought the 9 track version of Sweatbees (Australian Import) which is easily one of the best purchases I've made.  I didn't have either Chocolate & Ice nor the Split cd so it made sense for me to get the Sweetbees and get the best of both on one cd.  I got it for about $22.00 on Amazon.  I would say if you have both C&I and Split not to bother.

question bout the 7" with Z... I stopped my ear-xtacy (louisville record store) and there was a copy there with the 7" off the record.  The store had written on the price sticker " includes 7" single 2 of 4"
What's that mean? Were there 4 different singles or did the store get 4 copies bundled with the single?

Just curious.

hmm good question.

another thought, there's a vinyl pressing of off the record with four tracks, while this one has two. maybe thats how they distinguished it? Could've just meant they only got four copies.
