When I get married, I want Just One Thing as my wedding song. I'm hopeful that my interpretation of the lyrics isn't off the mark! That could be embarrassing.
Have you thought about what MMJ song, if any, you would have for your wedding?
I will be there when you die
I want Wordless Chorus goin as she's walkin down the aisle.
Well, I guess not. I think Golden would be appropriate, and I love this song so much.
Wordless Chorus is amazing. Strangely enough, I could see it as she comes down the aisle. Just the chorus part really.
golden is so beautiful. The first time I actually read the lyrics along with the music playing... I was so blown away.
I'm getting married next summer and the wedding song is: I Will Be There When You Die.
QuoteI will be there when you die
That would be so romantic. Except maybe for the 'if you can keep a straight face' bit. I can't quite fathom what that bit means.

I thought that was a way of saying "as long as you're honest" I guess real love is unconitional but I think this song is the most romantic of the mmj catalouge. Maybe 'Sweetheart' would be a good too.

Ah, that makes sense. I was thinking of it as trying to stop yourself from laughing which didn't make sense.
I find 'hopefully' the most romantic, but probably not suited to a wedding. Sweatheart would be a good choice.
The most romantic single line for me is 'Why's it so great just to wake every day alive and by your side?'
I got married this June & did all the music for our Wedding.
My wife LOVES Z & loves MMJ because of it.
Shame we didn't have it then.
Come Closer and Sooner would be nice to dance to. Just One Thing would probably be my first choice though. My wife and I danced together during that one at the forty watt.
Nothing to see here.... move along.
just one thing...

i got married two months ago and we had a petty song and a neil song... but if i had to do it over, i'd go with golden or christmas curtain cause they're so darn pretty. or, for the ultimate cheeseriffic effect, MMJ's cover of Berlin's "take my breath away"... anyway you slice it, it's better than the rod stewart my granny suggested. long live eloping!

Neil Young - such a woman?

I asked my woman to marry me at the Bowery Ballroom in New york back in 2003 while Jim solo'd "Be there when you die"...As the lads were doing two consecutive shows i had to wait until near the end of the second night before Jim played it. I was shitting myself for almost two nights...it was worth it though.
As for the wedding song ours would be "MY CRICKET- LEON RUSSELL....beautiful, spine chilling and short ...so we could get back to drinking...amen.
Welll, I'm already married, but I would add Hopefully because it is so beautiful and I really "can't stand the thought of one single day without your hand in my hand"
But I'd be bawlin my eyes out!!!!!
Unless Jim was there singin it ;-P
Hi, i'm new here and this is my first post. I don't want to get married, but if I would get married I want to have Anytime, Dondante or Picture of You as a wedding song I think. Though I probably will change my mind soon again..

You chose my thread to post in first? :-[ Thank you. And Welcome...
isn't that kind of a depressing song list at a wedding??
just my humble opinion...
"Closer" would be the bomb, I think. Or maybe "Knot comes loose"....

Welcome to you. Changing your mind about songs is a feature of being a fan of this band I think :)
Would I have an MMJ song for my wedding.?
Definitely, first dance "Golden". & my ladyfriend agrees. :D

Yeah, I guess so too.. :P
I just got married Oct. 2 and "Just One Thing" was our song. MMJ was our first concert together.

I think it's so perfect. It's a great song with great, simple lyrics and it's short so that people aren't sitting around for 6 1/2 minutes while the bride and groom dance. I want my dinner already!
Come Closer is kind of a sexy number, but i think Just One Thing is the best bet.
If I could do it all over again, I'd probely go with "Cobra"
i'm getting married in april and will be playing sooner and come closer. can't wait!
Lowdown would be a good choice. My chick loves that one (who doesn't?).
Same with Sooner--a classic MMJ ballad. Knot Comes Loose would be another.
My wife and I debated long and hard on whether or not to have an My Morning Jacket as our wedding song. In the end, however, we went with "Just to Know that You've Been Dreaming" by Will Johnson--who I first heard about through MMJ. Ironically, MMJ just played with Will in Dallas and they came on stage to help him play that song. What I would have done to have had a copy of that version for the wedding.
My fiancee and I are getting married in Oct. I think we'll play Lowdown and prior to leaving (before everyone else does), Mahgeetah will be playing. "So, are you ready to go, my lady...?" Perfect.
How about "One big Holiday"
I gave the best man speech at a friend's wedding a few months back, and my closing line went as so, "as Jim James would say, let your lives together be one big holiday." Only my girlfirend and the groom got it, but he had a big old smile on his face. At the reception a few people mentioned that was a great way to end the speech.
It's a little rockin, but when I get married, I hope our lives and wedding day together are "One Big Holiday."

I got married this past may and we have "hopefully" play during the dinner setting and then "just because i do" when i was pulling the guarder off of my wife. and then when we were naked later we played "lowdown". Jk about the last part.
This year at the Cincy show my fiance and I got to talk to Jim and let him know that Just One Thing was going to be our wedding song!! We were so excited....he said he was honored and seemed very sincere about it. I wonder how much it would cost to pay them off to play at the wedding....haha in my dreams! :D
How about Into the Woods. You could have the audience come in singing at the end.
I think Hopefully would be a great one...
