Hey guys......just a random question.....i just now downloaded the Chocolate and Ice EP and i was wondering who was talking on the phone on "Its been a great 3 or 4 years."
i thought it was jim!
Its his cousin Johnny Quaid, in which i suspect after he left the band.
I'm most certain he reveals himself when he says "Heeey Jee-im, this is your old favorite cousin on the Quaid side of the family"
Or something close to that ( I would check, but my itunes is back home)
i'm pretty sure it's jim - even though he starts off with "your favouritest cousin" he keeps fooling around who he's talking to....
"hey jiiiimm.... i'm just calling to wish myself a safe trip..."
so i think it's jim leaving himself a message on his own machine... ;)
I think Sioux Tribe is right.
From allmusic: '...a seemingly interminable answering machine message purportedly left by James' cousin.'
It was also released before Quaid left the band. FYI.
Did he and Cash maybe announce this to Jim sometime before so the other new guys , Carl and Bo, could get accustomed?
Sounds exactly like Jim to me.
Without being familiar with the time line, I've always assumed it was Quaid taking time off from the band once an album was almost completed.
Also, that he was going to 'go see about a girl'. :)
That's Johnny Quaid leaving a message for Jim, long before Quaid and Cash left the band.
that's definitely Mr. Quaid. and definitely long before he left the band.
of course it's Quaid. The reason it sounds like Jim is because they're from Kentucky...
In the paper I write for we arts writers picked our top 5 EPs last month. Mine was Choc and Ice, of course...
here's the link, if anybody gives two shits:

I had always heard it was Quaid too.
