Remember when they used to have that show on Mtv where bands would play thier favorite albums by other artists live? Well, my question to you is....if you could hear MMJ either play or record any album of all time which would it be.
I've got two right now.
1. Neil Young - On The Beach
2. Dr. teeth and electic light.. - The Muppet Movie Soundtrack
James Brown - Sex Machine
You fucking KNOW it would be SO AWESOME. Especially with the current selection of dance moves and hot backup vocals.
Oh my god. Now I really want this to happen.
Not an album, but a song......America's A HORSE WITH NO NAME.....I can just hear Jim doing that with major reverb......I bet he loves America. America & Bread RULE! ::) ;D
Great topic! My dream is a new years eve MMJ show with four full sets of each album and a Pink Floyd Meddle encore. (I know it's a bit of a strech but a guy can dream can't he? Can you imagine a MMJ Fearless????????????
I'm still hoping that Jim's All Things Must Pass will surface one day + I'd love to hear Astral Weeks by Van The Man & Bryter Layter by Nick The Stick.
& Dark Side Of The Moon...
& Black Sabbath's STD...
Prince, Purple Rain album...

I believe Dr. Teeth backing band were the Electric Mayhem not the electric light.
i'd love to hear mmj cover the radiohead's the bends
My Morning Jacket playing The Transfiguration of Vincent. With M. Ward opening, playing The Tennesse Fire front to back.
:o
EXILE ON MAIN STREET

Good call! Wouldn't mind hearing Sticky Fingers or Let It Bleed either...

Hey, man, "don't bring me down" ;)
Dragonboy beat me to the punch, but I'll vote for 'Sticky Fingers' too.
It'd be great if they covered an entire David Bowie album.
Maybe Hunky Dory or Space Oddity
beck - mutations
it's not my absolute favourite record at all, but i think the results would be very interesting.
For some reason I just thought of Time (The Revelator).
I like when ladies and gents mix it up.

Funny you mention Beck--I would go for "Sea Change" from his catalog. Additional votes for the Dead "American Beauty"!
Physical Grafitti side 2...
"Ten Years Gone" - 'nuff said.
ain't that right, Tracy? ;)
led zeppelin IV - particularly "when the levee breaks"....
THAT would be fairly mind-blowing...
let's just have em pull their whole catalog, then, eh?
;)

Jim doing "Sea Change" live acoustic from start to finish would be something that I would pay a months pay for............cookout on my back deck, Jim James , acoustic guitar, playing "Sea Change", my friends, drinking wine = Priceless. Good Call on that one!!!!
I think it would be cool to hear MMJ covering a song or an album by Bruce Springsteen. It doesn't matter which one of The Boss' album because all of them are good.
Oh, btw. It also would be cool to hear MMJ covering Wilco. Like Yankee Hotel Foxtrot or something.
EMR is on to something there. MMJ playing 'darkness on the edge of town' would be amazing.
But what i'd really love to hear is Jim singing the bob dylan song 'sad eyed lady of the lowlands', when he gets to the 'my warehouses, my arabian drums', that high part, i can feel the goosebumps just thinking about it.
i would like to here them do bob dylan's new morning or nashville skyline for completely selfish reasons. also the who's who's next (bo would rock that shit with all the synths) and i was also thinking that with thier recent dabbling in drum beats depeche modes violator might be very interesting.
Don't know why I hadn't thought of this before : dylan's Desire!
How about a Temple of the Dog song? When's the last time you broke that gem out? All 11 wonderful minutes of Reach Down?

Jim playing Nebraska or GOTJ would be amazing.
switching gears from dylan & springsteen, wot about..
metallica - master of puppets
skinny puppy - too dark park
i'd LOVE to hear what Jim could do with Astral Weeks

How about the entire Creedence catalog?
I'll also nominate Neil Young's "On The Beach".
Great thread, some really great choices here.

To hear Jim sing "Doo, doo, doo, Looking out my back door!"
or growl "Better run through the jungle!" ;D
oh shit, tom waits' MULE VARIATIONS? honestly, i don't think the jacket could touch it, but i do get excited thinking about them doing 'filipino box spring hog'
:D

yeah, I was just putting my two favorite records. Then I got to thinking how great they could make "Get Behind the Mule" and "Hold on." They could be beautiful in a whole different light. Maybe Closing Time would be a better Waits choice for the Louisville boys...
