Thanks to the local indy record store. It's f******* awesome. It's a bit dark in places (how can one play the guitar when it's so dark - I can't even play mine well with floodlights on me!), but it's so damn sweet.
Dammit, I love this band.
extras? bonus features?? spill it
haven't found any, but I didn't look before football came on. Will report more later.
Also got the 6 song acoustic DVD. Very sweet, too.
I had some "issues" yesterday afternoon so this DVD came on a good day, seeing as I needed to escape for awhile.
I put the DVD on and followed this man in a top hat(A.Man?)with a Lama(I think)on a leash through the forest to a clearing where the band was playing. They seemed to fit right in with the crowd, and so did I.The Fillmore was fixed up like this magical place(into the woods)in the middle of the forest.
The crowd must have been tripping over camera's all night cause there are over a dozen camera angles that are used.It was dark at times but many different colored lights at other times. This was filmed kinda like that Primus DVD that was put out a year or so ago. Some of you might like it,others may not.
The man with the lama appears here and there in the crowd totally enjoying himself.Off the Record has some video footage of him and various other things in the middle break of the song.
We have all heard the album now so you know the performance is outstanding. My one complaint is with the deletion of "I think I'm going to hell",the Tennessee Fire album is not represented at all on the DVD.The other song that is not on here and on the album is "At dawn".
I will have to watch it numerous times for it to fully soak in but I think it is a great representation of the crowd and atmosphere at an MMJ concert.
I won't spoil it for everyone but the last scene with the man and the bear is hilarious.
Okonokos! Okonokos!
Quoteextras? bonus features?? spill it
Only a photo gallery with weird pictures of the crowd before the show started,or after. They are dressed in weird costumes so that is why I say it was people from the crowd.
I did not get the limited edition DVD with this order but am expecting to receive it on a seperate order...yes I bought 2 copies of the DVD just so I could get the Acoustic Chorale one.
No At Dawn and no Hell. That is too bad. The latter was certainly a highlight when I saw them on the last tour.
They should've added songs to the DVD not subtracted. Whats the deal?

Yes,there is a thread about it in this room, the Acoustic Chorale DVD.
There's actually three or four threads about Acoustic Chorale.

just picked up my copy at Ear X-Tacy...but i'm not going to watch until after tonight!!!
Was it shot in HD, meaning enhanced for 16:9 televisions? Also, what's the audio like? Is it in DTS or just 5.1?
Just out of curiousity, I looked up okonokos on Netflix.
It has 2.8 stars (out of 5) >:(
And they have it categorized as:
"Country & Western/Folk
Music & Musicals
New Country"
If you click "More Like This," good ol' Netflix shows you the Dixie Chicks, Shania Twain, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, George Strait, and Kenny Chesney. ???
And for that, Netflix can go fuck themselves.

it's anamorphically enhanced and in 5.1

Excellent! I'm getting it tomorrow, along with the new Roger and Pete album (there's no fucking way I'm calling those survivors: The Who).
Hey CC, seen any good westerns recently? How about that Guy Pearce/Ray Winstone/Danny Huston modern western The Proposition?

No HD or DTS but the 5.1 surround sound is excellent.Better than some I have heard.

Great.
Sometimes 5.1 is better balanced than DTS.
Also,I see Danny Cash's name in the credits near the end.
I'm planning of writing a very quick review of the DVD tomorrow. I can't wait to hear and see this sucker on my DLP TV.
I thought the DVD comes out tomorrow, 10/31. They are already selling it in stores?
I am tired of Flava Flav.
Saw it tonight on the Big Screen in Nashville at the Belcourt.
The local store Grimeys had it onsale in the lobby after the show, and I grabbed my copy, with the bonus acoustic disc.
A lovely Monday night.
Going to pick up the DVD now...hard part will be not playing it in my office =)
I will sing you songs is transcendent. As usual.
How did I consider my life complete before I owned this DVD?
Picture quality is crystal, sound is full, and I will sing you songs IS beyond this world
OKONOKOS Doulbe live CD $15
OKONOKOS film screening with chance to win a beautiful guitar $10

OKONOKOS tour live performance $35
Being able to get the most complete emersive live experience by your all time favorite band for a total cost of $75 Priceless
You forgot the incredibly cheap $26 ultra warm sounding 4 LP vinyl box.
Ahhh, now it's up to $100 but all well worth it!
We need a cheers icon!
I've got the DVD on right now. It looks and sounds great. It's better than the CD since the occassional weariness of Jim's voice doesn't matter, thanks to the visual experience.
I love this DVD. It's making me even more anxious to see them again later this month.
I'm watching the DVD for the second time, and...
Has anyone thought about how awesome it would be to just wander into a My Morning Jacket concert wilst walking through the woods?
(Note to self: Hike more.)

Yes, it fucking kills. ;D
I'm watching it right now....OMFG its Awesome!! I've got it blaring through the stereo, it's incredible!! I LOVE this band!!! Now I have to go see them! ;D ;D
Tickets for my first MMJ show at the HOB in cleveland and now this dvd. So much excitement for me. The only thing missing is extras, a 'making of' would've been sweet.
I reccomend night-time viewing with the lights out.

True. ;)
Is it just me or did Jim sex us up during 'I Will Sing You Songs'?
QuoteIs it just me or did Jim sex us up during 'I Will Sing You Songs'?
I don't know but I'm pretty sure the mic stand "got off".
QuoteIs it just me or did Jim sex us up during 'I Will Sing You Songs'?
the way that song was filmed was perfect. it was so up close and intimate and perfectly so. that was one of the few moments that almost made me cry. that and Lowdown. and of course Steam Engine and Dondante.
and Run Thru, anyone? i've never rocked so hard in a movie theater. completely ridiculous concept.
Just picked it up & gonna watch it tonight. Super psyched!!!
QuoteIs it just me or did Jim sex us up during 'I Will Sing You Songs'?
It reminded me of Tina Turner in 'Gimme Shelter'.
That "sex us up" shit is so funny. When we were there at the show, my wife turned to me and said, "I think he's jerkin' the mic stand" he totally was. So funny that that moment made it onto the DVD. Also, my buddy Todd and his wife Edna made it into the pictures section. He's the guy that looks like the monopoly man. Cool tux, top hat, and really bad fake mustache. Edna's kind of looking up. GREAT picture. So glad they made it.
And now on to NYE!!!!
Andrew

That's a great picture of your friends. My brother is the picture right before theirs. I was excited to see he made it into the gallery. I didn't make the photo cut, but I can't complain because I won the guitar at the San Francisco screening. I keep watching the dvd over and over again. It turned out so wonderful. The camera crew did an incredible job. Everything was pieced together very nicely. The dvd is lively and beautiful and retains the excitement of being there in person.

No, I'm not selling it. I'm keeping it forever and ever. I still can't believe I won it, I feel extremely lucky. My brother teases me that I'll be buried with it. I wouldn't even let him help me carry it that night. Some day it will pass on to my future children and they can do what they want with it. So who knows it might end up on ebay in like 50-60 years.
I fucking love MMJ!!! :o DVD is breathtaking. I am counting down the days till I see these guys again in DC (26 days and counting).
Congrats, Elizanne. That rules. :)
Just got my copy. Can't WAIT to watch this...
I dunno whether the DVD is already available in Europe/Belgium?
I'm going out now to check all the records stores I actually know of. It will be a serious bummer if I'm not having the discs in my hands pretty soon now.
All those great reactions and reviews got me soooo pumped up....

If you get a chance can you take some good up close pictures of the body?
thanks and congratulations!

Check out the dvd rip of acoustic chorale in the thread that goes by the same name. It's excellent and will keep you busy until the complete dvd extravaganza is released.
Fnac told me they'd have the DVD on the 27th of november!
Major bummer. :-/

Mr. T,
You see any "At Dawn" or Tennessee Fire" LPs floating around over there?
Just curious of their avilability in Europe... Looking high and low here.
thanks!
I don't think they'll be available at the FNAC record store.
You might want to look for them in a more "indie" record store, but I do not know if they are still available...

I put in an order through HMV's UK site, it'll cost me a bloody fortune but hopefully they'll get it to me. They're nearly impossible to get in the states.
What's FNAC? A bigbox record store?

I got mine at Best Buy. They didn't even have it out on the shelves yet. i had to ask someone to bring me one from the back. OMG this DVD is SO F'n amazing!!! I can't get enough of it!!!! Tonight, I'm cranking it up, turning the lights down, and throwing back a few beers. How much more could you ask for??! ;D

Thanks so much for posting the pic. I wanted to take a picture of the one on display but my camera was in the car and I opted to stay indoors...
Looks really nice, they actually took time signing it too and wrote out their names....
did anyone see the fake fender on ebay, the signatures are questionable, but I'd still like it on my wall.
That's so cool, thanks for the pic Elizanne :)
You lucky girl you!!!! 8)
I like the fact that the band members can be seen standing behind the top hat guy watching their own show. Has everyone noticed the way Jim covers his eyes during the crowd sceen at the climax of the movie? It's F'ing hilarious.
