My top 5 picks:
1) I Think I'm Going To Hell
2) Strangulation
3) Run Thru
4) Anytime (is it my imagination or is this the 1st time Jim holds a Strat?)
5) Where To Begin--this one always gets to me because the soundtrack to Elizabethtown was the 1st cd I bought after getting home from my hospital/inpatient rehabilitation post motorcycle wreck. I listened to the cd on all the trips back and forth to the rehab hospital for my outpatient PT and OT so it really burned an emotional hot spot in my brain.
How about youse people? Whats on your top 5 from this majestic live release from America's greatest band?
As far as the video version of these tracks, it's between Strangulation and I Think Im Going To Hell. These two songs on the DVD are absolutely amazing and they bring out so much emotion and energy. No two MMJ songs have ever done that to me. Doesn' even seem that they are a band at all, more like a force....it's hard to explain.
Lay Low is my favourite. Go figure since I'm a big peachhead.
i'm gonna have to go with "Lowdown" and "O is the One that is Real"...they rock the shit out of those oldies but goodies!
I'll agree on "O". They rock that one out so hard...
well, not as hard as run thru. Run Thru would probably have to be my fav.
It beats 4 U.
OBH
Run Thru
Mahgeetah
O

Your list would be identical to mine with the exception of #4,I would replace with Dondante.
Where to begin is a great song and it's kinda jumped out at me from different directions here lately, with events in my life.
Yeah there is a very "any life" quality to Where to Begin isn't there...fall down, get back up, fall down, get backup. Thanks for putting a more definitive point on that Jellyfish.
I agree with what everyone has said so far but I'll go ahead and add "Lowdown" I think it's an amazing performance of that song. The guitar tone at the begening is face melting goodness, and then he rides the feedback to the perfect point. R.O.C.K!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I still want to know if anybody here has seen Jim use a Strat prior to seeing "Anytime" on this DVD....
QuoteSo, I still want to know if anybody here has seen Jim use a Strat prior to seeing "Anytime" on this DVD....
I don't think I've ever seen one before the Z tour, it's a twelve string to right?
nah, the 12-string is used on What A Wonderful Man, and also Itno the Woods (though not on the dvd).
The strat has been used a bit throughout their career. He'd used it on Lay Low during the 2005 summer jaunt. I remember him playing strat on Lay Low at Bonnaroo '05, and I've definitley seen him use it since. Normally on Anytime, since he's started doing the beginning of Lay Low guitar-less.
haven't seen acoustic chorale yet and have the cd and dvd but here are my choices for just whats on the Okonokos dvd:
1.Run Thru-The drumstick signals kick ass
2.Off The Record-Mainly for the outtro
3.Steam Engine-Kick ass drum solo
4.OBH-For obvious reasons
5.Lay Low-Love this song and love Jim's movements before he gets his guitar
QuoteMy top 5 picks:
1) I Think I'm Going To Hell
I love this song. The TN Fire version is so much different (not in a bad way) than the Okonokos. After listening to the live version, I had to take more listens to the studio version and I have really warmed up to it (get it? warm...hell). I was dissapointed to find it scratched from thre DVD. Also, Lay Low is incredible. I was suprised to see these two songs not mentioned on any lists yet as they were incredible: I will sing you songs and Wordless Chorus.
So far, I'm the only one for It Beats 4 U??? C'mon!!! It's fucking fantastic!

Where are Strangulation and I Think I'm Going To Hell coming from. I saw the movie in Louisville but haven't bought the DVD yet. I have been told by friends who did buy it that it has more songs than what they showed in theaters, but not these two. Are these from something else? Are my friends idiots? Please enlighten me.
Where's the love for "I will sing you songs??!!"
