Title: Music for Wedding
Post by: markcel on Jan 30, 2007, 12:28 PM
So I am getting married in October, and we are putting together music to play in the background during the cocktail hour and time prior to the band starting.  I have a list started in my mind, but want to get some suggestions, especially MMJ songs (Golden, Hopefully), which I would like as many as possible.

I know some songs are in for sure like Bright Eyes "First Day of my Life,"  John Prine "Glory of True Love,"  Ray LaMontagne "Forever My Friend."  But what other song would you suggest?  Any help would be greatly appreciated. ;D

Hey Congrats Markcel!  :)

A couple of oldies but goodies Johnny Mathis - The Twelfth of Never (Jeff Buckley does an amazing cover)

Henry Mancini - Moon River

Moon River, wider than a mile,
I'm crossing you in style some day.
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker,
wherever you're going I'm going your way.
Two drifters off to see the world.
There's such a lot of world to see.
We're after the same rainbow's end--
waiting 'round the bend,
my huckleberry friend,
Moon River and me.

Tom Waits - Better Off Without A Wife   ;)

that would do...

but i'm thinking "dirty deeds done dirt cheap" might be more appropriate for a black-tie affair???

seriously though, you chould play "moon river." that song makes me weep. that or sam cooke's "you send me."

my wife and I sang "I Will Be There When You Die" at our reception.  It took down the house!

If I ever get married, I want to dance with my wife to Rollin' Back. Even though it seems to be about a dead person.  I still want to.

I think I would consider "Sweetheart" and "Chills".

And you can borrow some from my wedding:

Traveling Wilburys - Handle with Care
Dusty Springfield - Son of a Preacher Man
CCR - Have you ever seen the Rain (although, that brought rain to mine)
Marvin Gaye - What's Going On?
John Lennon - Just Like Starting Over
