Post by: confuseddonkey on Jan 11, 2007, 11:01 PM
this may well have already been touched upon.....but I'm kind of a noob here, soooooooooo, here goes

there will be bigotry
and there will be open minds
there will be days of peace
youll never have the time
as long as you keep a straight face
i will be there when you die

There are obviously countless that could go here depending on the mood.  But the one that always sticks out to me...

I will not crumble.

It's amazing how powerful these four little words are.

Just like the heart you break of a love babe
Just like the hand you take of a friend

You all picked lyrics that I've immersed myself in... :D

A few that I love....I couldn't pick just one.

"so love dawg cant ye see that you only gotta dance with me"
"you're the criminal that never breaks the law"
"but I know there's someone that loves up above and want to fix you a dream."
"but my heart cant wait to meet you on the other side."

"Deep in my heart, that's where the knot comes loose."

"You won't feel a thing." (last line from Strangulation!)--it is touching, the way the last verse goes

"All your days I wish you blindness from all the evil in the world."

The entire chorus of Hopefully

"A BITCH TO SUCK YOUR NUTS!"

I forgot to inlcude these earlier.  I think it says something about Jim's songwriting when it is so difficult to nail down favorite lyrics.  He's very creative, and sensitive I think.

"You always told me, no matter how long it holds me, if it falls apart or makes us millionaires; you'd be right here forever, we'd go through this thing together and on heaven's golden shore we'll all lay."

"You had me worried, worried that this would last, but now I'm learning, learning it will pass."

Those are phenomenal.

There's too many!!!  The first is by far my favourite.  And yes, I did get lazy and copy and paste from the main site.

"it's a bad idea, cause they're down on their luck and they've lost touch
with their bleeding hearts."

"RELIGION - SHOULD APPEAL TO THE HEARTS OF THE YOUNG.
WHO ARE YOU? WHAT HAVE YOU BECOME?"

"your skin looks good in moonlight
and god damn those shaky knees"

"I wont ask you where you're goin.
I wont ask you where you been.
I know after a million times you get sick of all my lines,
but I just wanna see you safe again."

"Oh, don't carve me out! Don't let your silly dreams,
fall in between the crack of the bed and the wall."

"we are the innovators, they are the imitators"

Here are a couple of my favorites:

"But what Madonna said really helped -
she said: "Boy, you better learn to express yourself!""

"People always told me
that bars are dark and lonely
and talk is often cheap and filled with air.
Sure sometimes they thrill me
but nothin' could ever chill me
like the way they make the time just disappear."

Oh, and every lyric in Steam Engine.

what old jebus meant to me
take him out to go diving
in red patoka sea
the brain melts in the twilight
with the boar and moving trees
your skin looks good in moonlight
and god damn those shaky knees
the fact that my heart's beating
is all the proof you need

"Why does my mind blow to bits every time they play that song?
It's just the way that he sings,
not the words that he says, or the band.
Im in love with this soul, it's a meaning that I understand."

Tell me there's nobody else in the world
There will be a knock on your back door"

"There ain't nothing glowin like this skin you're showin and the keys you gave to me"

"soft and warm all the time, make you want it over and over"

Oh yeah, that's good nubbin music

Yeah, it seems everyone loves these. With good reason.

But also...

but I know there's someone that loves up above
and wants to fix you a dream.
He wants to sit down and think.
He wants to pour you a drink.
And you wont feel a thing. You wont feel a thing.

Hopefully it occurs to me that there's one thing I can't stand
That's the thought of a single day, without your head in my hand.
I know that just now I ain't been showin'
The kind of love you know that I can.
So gimmie a little time and you'll be knowin'
Your good lovin' baby is back on top again.

time for me to be serious about this. lyrics i love:

"Aw if you don't know yourself, how could you ever know me"

"Yes she was a young girl.
Bout the age of 23.
but somehow the lord never smiled down upon her,
so she flew out on a breeze.
Said: "I don't wanna feel a thing, I don't want to feel a thing."

"sorry don't
mean nothin, if sorry's still in bed."

"the fact that my heart's beating
is all the proof you need."

"don't ever lose any of your god-given charm."

"get emotional each time they say your name."

"a good shower head and my right hand
the two best lovers that i ever had."

"and i think my other would
kill me. if she knew what i was about."

"we forgot about love, bu weren't broken-hearted."

"if i was seventeen
i'd really fuck you up."

Why's it so soft when the cannons unload on the others, why's it so loud when we say it won't happen to us?

- Way he Brings

For an urban boy on a dirty tour, I never felt so clean

Loaded questions in an automatic world

-Dancefloorz

Oooooh waaaaaaaah ooooooooooh aaaaaaaah
- half their songs

I'd roll on, but I know you'll need me someday.
-War Begun

To take
me
To hell

"yer ass it draws me in like a bermuda highway"

shouting down: "I hope you make it on this earth."

the time is near, to come forward with whatever killed
your spark.

all alone at the end of the day. really tired it's time to hit the hay.
it was always good to hear you say:"you never were a
drawback, you always were an asset, you never were a drawback,
no you weren't." put away your corset, put away your shoe,
put away the old september blues.

i belong to a race of robots, drownin out my one. anytime your war gets out
of hand i'll take it on.
