What would your ultimate live versions be from the Archives? Just got a recommendation for One Big Holiday from the June 18, Chicago, show, and it was a great recommendation. How Could I Know/Oxen from the same show is better than the studio version in my mind.
steam engine from toronto 2004

amen. that whole show is perfect. i'm a little brain dead now but I will be back with some other gems.
Live at Headliners Music Hall on 2003-09-26 is hands down my fav show over-all.

War Begun from the Planiterium Show is actually the best version in my book by FAAAARRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!! Actually that entire Planetarium Show is probably my favorite show of all time but War Begun is especially breathtaking. Seriously, put on some headphones and listen to that show and you will see what I mean. It's really really special and extremely underated and not talked about nearly enough.
Not from the archives, but
"I Will Be There When You Die"

Unbelievably beautiful.
p.s. I'm too tired to check my spelling on that. Please forgive me.
Ok, here we go. Enjoy

alright, me again. this time, im here to ask for some MORE suggestions to the best stuff they got live. im gonna make a double cd(or triple, cause one is certainly not enough).
i got so far the 5 links above, plus steam engine from TO, aswell as strangulation from TO. anyone know a better of strangulation? lemme know
i also love lay low, and im looking for an extra long version. the length of songs for this is key, as usually the longer means the better.
Quotethe length of songs for this is key, as usually the longer means the better.
you're one of those "jam band kids," aren't you?
;)
Damn right, growin up listening to Allman Bros with your dad will do that to a kid.
Any awesome/unique versions of At Dawn kicking around somewhere, or The Bear. love those 2 songs.
Howabout By My Car?
Any slower ones that sound so sweet you almost wanna cry?
This will be the king of compilations.
At Dawn - Roo 04 (thunder in the background)
The Bear - The london garage show
By My Car - AcousticCituosca
Dancefloors from 'Roo 2003!
Damn' :D

Another really nice version of "By My Car": (although w/ some crowd noise)

Glad you like the ones I've posted.
I might post some more here, but not with this internet connection. I'll look for some new ones next week.
I love this place! Thanks to everyone who posted these songs!
I have to say I am particular to the Steam Engine on 9-26-03, that or 'Roo 04's version. That song transcends space and time! ;D
'Roo 04 Steam Engine is SPECTACULAR, just about the best single MMJ performance i've ever heard. The raindrops on the AUD recording just add another level. The rumblings in the background--amazing.
This is definately my new favorite thread. If I remember right, I think the Lay Low from St. Louis was pretty damn sweet. I'll check it out again.
fucking right man.I love you guys. these are some of the best Jacket songs ive heard. praise be!!!! ill look for that ST louis track now.
Im thinking of makin one of the CD's an awesome ,rocking jam mix, the other, awesome slower mix. this wll have to be 3 CDs, common guys, im sure youve got some other faves.
I'm working from memory here, but isn't there a really good version of Strangulation from the Lebowski Fest?
Which recording of O is the One that is Real is best?
What about Dancefloors, I Will Sing You Songs, Evelyn?
Has anyone checked out the MMJ live shows at
http://bt.etree.org/index.php?cat=212
There are five of them or so. Seems like there's some overlap with the ones from the Archives (which is a far better database), but hey. I'll take any new live MMJ I can get.
sorry i havent been arounf with questions as far as best live, but ill be back soon, ive been binging for days on account of the new job and a massive tax return.
cheers to everyone!
Any hope of more new shows for the Archives in 2006?
You can find a live version of Where to Begin at:

sweet thankyou. ive only heard this song once
The Archives have changed a lot. There aren't nearly as many shows as their used to be. I hope MMJ management wasn't behind this. This was something that inspired me to buy everything of MMJs, supplementing it with the bands amazing live presence.

They're still there, they are just harder to find because of some weird reformatting on the site. You can still search by year here:

Thanks to MyLifeisSought for his work on this.

i stopped doing my ultimate mix............ROO' 06 just blew it all to hell :-/
and im DL this planet arium show right now. been lookin for good old MMJ concerts
It looks like the live Archives are back up. Does anyone know which show/shows among these (if any) Okonokos migt have come from? I'm sure the sound quality in the CD release later this month will be A LOT better, not to mention the movie.
OKONOKOS was from the fillmore in '05. I am pretty sure no audio recording was allowed because of OKONOKOS. None exists to my knowledge.
The 11/24 Chicago show had a great development. A LIVE ORCHESTRA backing the band playing four great songs:
Bermuda Highway
At Dawn
Just One Thing
Gideon
Would be great if these live versions find their way out into the universe!
Any word on a recording on the Chicago or Boston shows from 2006? They both had orchestras. Versions of songs like "At Dawn" would be stellar.
Still no word on Chicago November 2006 show?
My Favorites...
They Ran - Fillmore NYE 2006. (Ohhh the soul!) "you grab some champange, we'll grab some champange" HEAVEN.
Phone Went West - Louisville , Headliners. I have never heard a better version.
Off The Record (acoustic) - BBC
Tyrone - Austin Tx Sessions
Steam Engine - '05 Roo
Anytime - Jim and Carl @Preforming Arts S.F. <----must have
