I heard about this last month, but was waiting for it to be official! Yeah Badman Recording Co.! Check the very brief blurb in the upcoming section on their main page.

One more thing I'm going to have to order ;D Thanks for posting!
great news, good looking out. Keep us updated when we can order...
If I remember correctly, it should be done in October. But I will verify and let you all know. I turned in my order the day he told me he was working on it ;D
I can be such a geek sometimes!
yea, I emailed today and asked about a pre-order... I think I'm going to buy a few copies. I f-in love that EP all the way down to the phone call.
I asked for 2 copies also! One to leave pristine and one to play! Chocolate and Ice was how I got introduced to MMJ, so it holds a special place in my heart ;). And when I found out Dylan and his wife shopped at the store I am part owner of...well, I nearly pee-ed my pants! Please support Badman whenever you can. They are super-duper good people.
for you vinyl aficionados, can you recommend a decent record player? anybody out there with hi-fi kit, or are you listening to the kind with built in speakers?
in our house it is Technics.
I actually have a technics that's about 10 years old that I dug out of the attic a while back, recently replaced the needle on it, and had to buy a preamp so I could run it through the auxiliary input on my stereo. I ordered a cheap $25.00 preamp at radioshack, and I've noticed that the sound quality of the records is good, but definitely doesn't deliver the same kick as the cds i play on the same stereo. Any aficionados out there know why this would be, is it b/c i have a bargain priced preamp, and how much would i have to pay for one that would make a noticeable difference on my "only decent" stereo?
Also, does anyone know if the Chocolate and Ice is a reissue, or is this it's first time on vinyl?
This is the first pressing on Vinyl.

a good preamp makes a difference. wouldn't spend anymore than you did on the stereo though.
tis available for preorder now. They say it's a limited one time pressing (they said that about Okonokos though...) so get it while you can.

the title of this thread makes me hungry :-?
I'm eating fruit loops smoothie's... that's the closest thing I could find to chocolate and ice swirled.
2 copies freshly pre-ordered 8-)
I don't have money for it right now, but I pre-ordered it anyways. Now I'm going to be excited and impatient until it arrives. ;D
Quotefor you vinyl aficionados, can you recommend a decent record player? anybody out there with hi-fi kit, or are you listening to the kind with built in speakers?
I can recommend the stanton ST-100, or a Technics. Make sure you get an S-shaped tonearm. The straight tonearms gave me Antiskate issues. Equally important is the stylus/cartridge. I can highly recommend the Shure m97x. Other stylii had issues with my Jacket records.
Oh, what a sweet surprise... I can't wait to hear the vinyl crackle over Sweetheart and Cobra... I've never seen a "swirled" LP before, but I'm hoping it's also scented. That would be the ultimate sexing of my sensories.
Interesting thought, if these are swirled in any sort of machined method, each vinyl will probably have it's own unique swirl pattern. Stuff like that appeals to me.
Expected to come in late September - my birthday is late September.
8-)
Is it weird that I just bought this even though I have never owned a record player?
Same here BH
I sent an e-mail to badman asking them how many "limited" meant and they told me "around 1000"
Is that what they did for AD and TF?
I see "Z" and "Acoustic..." listed as limited all the time on some sites, yet they never seem to run out. Do some record companies just throw this term around to entice people into buying them, or is there really a limit when they say limit? I'm not including the ones that they press in a "very limited" quanity and become collectibles very fast.
If I remember this correctly, Acoustic Cistuoca was pressed at 1,000 copies, also... This may help you get an idea as far as how available this EP will be at retail. I'll bet Chocolate and Ice sells much faster, though.
I'm surprised Acoustic Cistuoca at only 1000 copies, b/c I still see new copies of it in records stores as well as on line. Did that few of them sell?
I think Badman is pretty good at saying limited edition of 1000 or so and then repressing without notice. Remember Okonokos was supposed to be very limited and I think they sold out on preorder alone and then said they'd press a few more to meet demand. They're all over the place now. EarXtacy here in louisville has 3 copies as of a couple days ago as well as about 15 Acoustic Citsuoca LPs.
Regarding the Citsuoca...
Here at my local store, I've bought the vinyl on three different occasions now, convinced that I was probably buying the last copy the store would have. I've also bought two from Ear-X. (They make awesome gifts).
My source says he only had 1,000 of the vinyls pressed. About this time last year, distributors were officially sold out of them. I'm not in the music retail business, but my understanding of this is that our local stores have only got their own personal reserves left.
This might explain the sporadic availability we see from these things. A couple of months ago, I couldn't find an extra copy to save my life. A month or two later, my local store restocked with a couple more. A month after that, I went to Ear-X and they had a handful.
One day, they'll be gone.
I own 3 copies as well, one signed by Jim and Two Tone... 8-)
I've picked up both copies of Citsuoca that I've seen at Flat Black and Circular in East Lansing. Thats been over the past couple years. I remember they had Z right when it came out and they had Okonokos right around Christmas. I was foolish and didn't pick up either, but I did get lucky and find them both new at The Great Escape in Nashville this spring. Like you said, one day, they'll be gone.
anyway we can fast forward to the end of september so this will be on my front porch. :-/
i don't know if i can wait another month :(

Dylan is such a nice person, no joke. My guess is that he repressed Okonokos due to demand from people like me who missed out on the first press. While it is true that first press is more valuable, I totally appreciate having access to Okonokos on vinyl. I have been biting my tongue on this for awhile, but seriously, Badman is truly super-good, kind peeps.
anyone got their copy yet :-/
I will let you all know when Dylan delivers my copies...his office is right down the street from my store.....should be any day now!
Expect them early/mid October, dudes.
that was for the AC gold disc... the C&I was to be expected at the end of September.
It may apply to Acoustic Citsuoca Gold, but it's also true for Chocolate and Ice... The Chocolate and Ice is delayed 'til Early/Mid October. It's pretty easy to bank on that, considering it's only 3 days away from being Early October, and my source told me this over a week ago.
p.s. the translucent gold isn't a pre-order... you may get it before you get the swirl.
Quote
p.s. the translucent gold isn't a pre-order... you may get it before you get the swirl.
I don't understand. If it's not a preorder then why don't I have it yet? And if they're coming out around the same time why don't they just send them in one package.. oh, right, to justify charging me twice for s&h.
I don't want to sound like a completely jaded fan. I am looking forward to both of releases, I guess I should just cross my fingers that they don't end up delaying it two years as in the case of the TN/AD demos discs. :-X
If in theory, though, the swirl did take substantially longer than the gold to hit the streets, then you'd be glad you didn't ask for them to be shipped together.
It doesn't matter, though, because I just checked out their website, again, and it automatically charges $4 for every item in your cart. For example, in a single order, it'd be $8 to ship two vinyl, or $4 to ship a single vinyl.
So you aren't being charged any more or less than you would if you ordered them at the same time.

I was holding out for those three days... but now I know you have a source, I'll just wait it out (like I have any other choice)
PS. I'm jealous of your gold AC...
I'm getting really excited about the swirl... Cobra, Holy, and Sweetheart on vinyl is almost erotic, to me. I think to celebrate getting the vinyl, I'm gonna get myself a chocolate and vanilla swirl from "Dairy Treats", formerly "Dairy Queen"...
I wonder if Starbucks will have their Pumpkin Spice in rotation, by then? Might get me one of those frappaccino's instead.

I will give you $20 for the one signed by JJ. ;)
nice offer but I stood outside the 40 watt in a fake 50's sock hop jacket with a cumber bun, bow tie and self proclaimed official "Prom King" sash for over an hour for the chance to ask them to sign it and tell the guys how great the are.
Besides, it's not complete yet until I see Bo, Patrick and Carl. Tis resting behind glass on my bookshelf for the time being.

I thought Patrick was the only other band member involved in Acoustic Citsuoca's production...

Now THAT is a FAN! :)
Someone had this on ebay recently (may be gone now, I haven't checked) and they said that the release date was November 9th. I hope that was just a way to buy the person time until it actually arrives so they then have time to ship it.

Yes, this is just an insurance measure on his part...
Expect your vinyls in a week, if not less.

Joe Muggs started serving their Pumpkin Spice
yesterday. Hint/wink/hint.

I can confirm that Badman was unpacking them today. How do I know? Cuz' Dylan brought me this little package to work right before I left ::)!

Oooo thanks Liz, I just got so excited!
Did they have to change the track listing to fit it on the vinyl?
i was just wondering if they were going to split cobra on a side a and side b thing :-?
that being said mine can't get here quick enough ;D C&I is mas def my favorite ep
Quotei was just wondering if they were going to split cobra on a side a and side b thing :-?
Side B = Cobra...the whole side B ::)
FUCKIN A!!! ;D
OH HELL YES!
"Hi James,
Your order will ship on 10/5/07.
Enjoy.
Badman"
Woo!!! I'm kind of glad that it didn't come this week because I couldn't really have afforded to sit down and listen to this like I intend to do as soon as it arrives.
Those pictures make me want dessert.
got mine 8-)
couldn't make myself spin it though. i'm wishin i would have ordered two now
I can't wait to get mine- nothing would be better than getting home from work and seeing a nice rectangular package. That swirl is awesome and I love that each record is unique. I kind of wish I had ordered two as well.
Quotegot mine 8-)

I thought for sure mine would be here if yours was Dylan but no square box on my doorstep... :-[
I wish that answering machine message was left off of the vinyl, or at least pushed behind the last track instead of preceding it. Damn, I hate trying to skip tracks on a record.
Awesome swirl, though.
I hate how inconsistent the mail is... how can someone less than 10 miles away get something two day ago and I still not have it.
Part of it is the laziness of saturday mailmen. I don't think I've ever received a package that didn't fit in the mailbox on a saturday. Lazy fucking bastards.
Now it's here on tuesday at the earliest.
rant over.
Yeah, I can't stand it when they ship US mail. Slow......as......hell.
And their internet tracking system is horrible...its like:
9/20 order processed
9/30 order shipped
10/30 order delivered
Last time I ordered from badman it took like 2 weeks....very annoying.
The US mail is dead. The sooner our government knows that, the better.
Sorry to those of you that are/know mailmen/women.
I know it is a goal of US Mail to get out of the package carrying business and focus more on small letters (things that can fit in your mailbox).
I can't wait until this transition is completed.
Back to the subject though: When are people going to start posting pics of their records?

Hell, I haven't even received my Citsuoca gold vinyl yet. Ordered it the day it hit the net and I know they have shipped them already but evidently not mine. I think part of the problem could be Badman. I don't want to point fingers here I just want my vinyl. Maybe I am just too impatient?
I have no complaints about badman, but as an example of some shipping shenanigans there, they sent me 2 okonokos boxes! I was honest enough to send one back. Just got around to ordering C&I, we'll see how long it takes...
Brad, I think I have a case of swirl envy. :o
Yours look so much cooler than mine - yours looks like an eyeball! Christ, do I now have to go on a shopping frenzy to get the perfect swirl??

Still waiting on my C&I. I will post a pic when I get it but I think I like the style of Brad's the best. It does look like an eyeball. :o
By the way, the more I look at these pictures, the more I want this to arrive. It looks delicious. I'm afraid I might get too f'd up some night and try to eat the wax.
Yes, I just got mine a few minutes ago but I'm at work and cannot post a pic (thank's big brother!!). Trust me when I say, Brad's is way cooler than mine. I'll keep the fingers crossed that you pull a winner, too Bermuda!
EDIT: I also just realized that one of those shots make it look like a giant pancake!! Keep the maple syrup locked away!
Dave, I can't help you with the ISM vinyl but I ordered my Month of Sundays records from the source here:
http://www.louisvillenoise.com/v2/releases/distribution.htm
(scroll about midway down...)
ten dollars and 3.50 aren't bad with shipping included. I ordered a second set the other day just for kicks.
Oh and this is for Brad for making Dave jealous, haha!

ok, i'm interested
Hee hee, Kory I hope you're not letting your puppy slobber all over that thing!!
Yeah, the original cardboard covers aren't as easy to come by... I've had all of those photos backed up on my hard-drive, though, because in the future I plan on ripping the vinyl onto my iPod and using it as the cover art.
On that subject, does anyone know a good tool for ripping vinyl? I think Brian just used a microphone back when he recorded By My Car from Acoustic Citsuoca from us - it sounds great, but I was thinking of a more direct vinyl-to-PC utility than a mic.

thanks to the man himself (Kory) i now know how ;D and have been in the process of ripping a lot of vinyl. if you need help send me a pm. you really don't need much, just a mini to stereo rca cable, some software and a receiver with an audio out.

Hey Brad, windows or mac?
I've got a Mac G4 and a PC. I use my PC 99% of the time, including with the iPod.
Just ordered mine. Decided to get an extra copy that will stay sealed (of course I'm gonna be tempted to open b/c I wanna see which one has the cooler swirl pattern :)) Also ordered a copy of Acoustic on gold, since I only had the red before.
I still don't have my c&i... I pre-ordered two on the first day they were available.
I got mine yesterday but haven't listened to it yet as I was spent most of my free time listening to the new Radiohead ::). I'll see about posting a picture of my swirl soon.

Stanton st-100 turntable has a coax out, so I go from that directly to my audigy.
It is surely not as good as using a highend preamp with the phono out, but it gets the job done and sounds really really good.

Sorry I forgot this Brad. I don't know a PC program to use but you just need some program that will record your "line in". Aside from that, a RCA (red, white) to 3.5mm mini jack (headphone size) is all you need to get going. Whatever you record in will most likely allow you to cut up the recording as well. If you're feeling randy with that 1% of your mac usage, I can send you a program and the instructions i mailed to EAZY"muthaphuckin"E, ;D

I use Audacity. It is free, powerful, and simple. Real nice for manually cutting up the tracks (I never had any luck with those apps that "magically" cut it up for you).

Yes, I have heard people talking up audacity left and right. I too am a manual cutter as well, no magic cutting at the silence for me either.

FYI, they come in an unsealed heavy duty clear plastic so you can immediately see which one has the better swirl but neither will ever be "unsealed" really.
I just got mine....I can't tell by the pics that have been posted, but is anyone else's swirl brown and YELLOW? I thought it was going to be more of a white color (more similar to ice). Mine is more like chocolate and piss.
;D
I'm serious...it is like neon yellow. The other pics look more like a light yellow...mine is bright yellow. I'm not complaining...still looks cool. Looks kinda like the second one (eye-ballish).
I heard they actually did piss on one single copy and then sealed it into the Vinyl, you should probably start an e-bay auction. I'd be curious to see how much someone would be willing to pay for the lone copy of the Chocolate and Piss edition.
mmmm piss
That's actually the "Shit and Piss" edition. It's a 1 of 1. Very rare.
QuoteThat's actually the "Shit and Piss" edition. It's a 1 of 1. Very rare.
LOL.
I'll start bids at $100. One side is a good mixture of shit and piss.....other side, mostly shit with a thin rim of piss.
If anyone knows better than I do, speak up, but I have a bad feeling that leaving the vinyl in this plastic sleeve is asking for it to melt into a sandwich come first summer.

I'm really not an obsessive person, so its hard for me to believe that I can't stand waiting for a couple LPs that I already own -- but hey, they have pretty colors now! Fuck me, but I guess that just tells you how good this band is.
Sounds like Badman is a company worthy of our patience though, so I will be do my best to wait it out.

Thank you Jesus! I come back from the OU football game to see a glorious swirl of shit and piss sitting on my front door step ;D

I agree, any piece of wax with cobra on it shall not be called shit or piss...
- God out!
I got mine. It's the "eyeball" version. So sweet.
I must say, Badman is a good group of people. There was mass confusion over an order i placed a little while back and Dylan totally fixed things and mightve hooked me up with a little something extra ;).
I LOVE badman, I hope there is one of these and the gold Acousticcitsuoca left for my Christmas presents.
Badman recordings seems pretty erratic in their delivery. I ordered mine on a Thursday and it was in my mailbox the following Monday. That's pretty fuckin' fast. Yet it seems a lot of other people have the exact opposite experience. I'll keep this in mind next time I order in case the opposite becomes the case on the order ;)
I have felt bad before for the lack of speedy shipping but Dylan at Badman answers every email I send usually within hours. I have a mental picture that it's like him and his wife or something running the show and boxing up stuff on their own. You can imagine filling the orders from some of us fanatics always ordering 2 and 3 of everything with mmj written on it, I's sure he's not complaining though.
That being said, I love Badman and I love that mmj graces us with so many releases and that they started licensing to Badman and not Darla. (I like darla too, I'm just wanting them to repress the first two albums for those that don't own them)
