Title: What is Dondante about?
Post by: tsk1122 on Jan 29, 2008, 09:14 PM
Has anyone heard any input from Jim James as to what this song is about.  Very haunting version on the Okonokos DVD.

Thanks.

Short Version:
Its about one of Jim's longtime friends who committed suicide.

i cried the very first time i heard. no lie.

i still tear up a little.

i also teared up last night watching a Syd Barrett/Pink Floyd thing last nite on VH1 Classic. Right at the part where Roger is discussing "Wish You Were Here" and how it's all about Syd and it hits the chorus (like a hammer) and i lost it.

rambling!

Unbelievable song.

Thanks for the quick explanation.  I'm on these boards a lot, although I rarely post.  My first MMJ show was Irving Plaza NYC in June of '04 and I've been hooked ever since.
