I heard "wicked game" by Chris Isaak on the radio and it made me think....Jim could kill it! Carl on the steel doing the slide parts.
Hahahahahahahha ;D
I think I've mentioned this before but Fooled Around and Fell in Love by Elvin Bishop is built for Jacket.
QuoteI think I've mentioned this before but Fooled Around and Fell in Love by Elvin Bishop is built for Jacket.
spot on!
only this one can't fall in the cheesy category ;D
i'd love to see them do 'brandy' for some reason (and the sailors say bran-dee--you're a fine girl...what a good wife you would be....)?
kickstart my heart!!!!!! everyone should cover an occasional motley crue song.
Quotekickstart my heart!!!!!! everyone should cover an occasional motley crue song.
Maybe they'll do the entire Dr. Feel Good album at RCMH. I know I'm keeping my fingers crossed! ;)

dude, i would shit my pants if they even did a few bars of a crue song.
Not so cheesy but Paperback Writer would be the shit.
I'd like to see em bring back Freaks of the Industry (Digital Underground) -->Principal's Office (Young MC)
QuoteNot so cheesy but Paperback Writer would be the shit.
Yes Please!
I would take any Cure song.
how about some doobies? what a fool believes, perhaps?
or maybe jim + omnichord doing a little beegees' how deep is your love?
or anything by the rodfather.
Tears Of A Clown - also not very cheesy, but delicious
I don't think this is cheesy at all, but I always thought that MMJ would be the perfect band to cover the Faces. How about a little "Stay With Me"?!?!
Now, to keep the spirit of the thread going, I nominate some Madonna..."Lucky Star" would be fun, no wait, "Like A Prayer", epic.
Mrs. Robinson ala Lemonheads.
I've always wanted to see Jim and Bo do their version of Pink Floyd's Cirrus Minor.
Fitter Happier? ;)
http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1809823934/video/6808650 how about this ;D
you know i hear songs on the crappy radio all the time and think to myself how the jacket could actually rock this tune...anyways the one i will throw into the mix is from top gun....highway thru the DANGER ZONE!.....i cant wait to see the boys
Maybe it's just me, but I don't want them to do cheesy covers. I'm a big fan when they do covers of well-chosen and good songs like Nick Drake's "Northern Sky" and "Rocket Man" etc...

You may have pegged the cheesy meter with tha Danger Zone - and that would make 2 tunes from the Top Gun soundtrack!

They've done some cheesy covers in the past. some may even say Rocket Man was one of them. All the "cheesy" songs they do are good songs when you strip away all the cheese. I don't think they do them for a knee-jerk reaction but to show you the awesomeness of cheese or of someone else's song. or maybe they just like to play em and know that we'll like whatever they do.
Man i was gonna suggest Danger Zone i think that would be an amazing cover tune! that or another kenny loggins hit I'm Alright!!
"Caught Up In You" - 38 Special 8-)
I'm Not In Love by 10cc. I'm dead serious. That song is as good as a white tiger tire cover on a Geo Tracker.
Get Up by Mike & The Mechanics. But only if a music video is filmed involving speed boats and a lake.

both of these are terrific suggestions. i also think both of these would be magical for bo's end of things.
just thought of another one. Don't Leave Me This Way by Thelma Houston. also Forget Me Nots by Patrice Rushen. I don't know if that would be wholly doable, and i also don't know why i'm suggesting one-hit wonder disco songs. oh wait, i know why because they're REALLY GOOD

I think careless whisper is a good example.
.......I saw this thread a while ago and could never think of a cheesy cover but I was listening to Traffic last night and "Who Knows What Tomorrow Will Bring" made me think of this thread again........not really a cheesy cover but I think that MMJ could really pull it off........Jim can handle Winwood's vocal range, they have Carl to play the saxophone part, and Bo is worthy of playing Winwood's organ solos, not only that but a killer drummer to boot.......anybody know this song and agree with me.......now I have it in my head and would love to hear them do this.......
.............ps, "Fooled Around and Fell In Love" would be great and incredibly cheesy at the same time..........
i was watching the pilot of freaks and geeks last night, and it made me think that MMJ could do a killer Come Sail Away by Styx
I'd love to hear him cover more Dylan. Dylan's powerful songwriting combined with JJ's magic voice would make the greatest covers ever.
See goin' to acapulco

Tonight I'll Be Staying Here with You
Billy #4
Girl from the North Country
If Not For You
The Man in Me
You're a Big Girl Now

Phish does a good cheesy version of this, in fact they played it at the only Phish show I was ever at.

I would love to hear them do some Boston... esp. "Foreplay/Long Time"

Don McLean - Vincent
Jim James solo
The Pina Colada song. That would be awesome.
QuoteThe Pina Colada song. That would be awesome.

QuoteI would love to know if guys Feel Like We Do....
If not, Tom could show you the way!
Next "Oh, My God I can't believe they're playing..." song in my perfect world:
Groovy Situation - Gene Chandler.
Sincerely, one groovy song. If you can't shake (okay, 'sway') your ass to this, well, you must not have an ass.
Rush, Rush - Paula Abdul.......Trust Me!!!
has anyone suggested africa by the greatest band ever assembled, toto? SO MUCH EMOTION.
Lovefool!
With the new direction they're going in...
Bruce Springsteen's "10th Avenue Freezeout" would be very appropriate
many other Bruce songs would also be good
Also, unlikely, but "St. Stephen" by the Dead would be fucking wild
