Welcome to the boards and have a GREAT bday in the "pit." :)
It's awesome. Count me in with db, though--this is getting ridiculous.
What is ridiuclous and juvenile about this? I am sincerely asking. Is it the wording of the thread. I'm assuming if it said "EU Appreciation Thread" it would fine. Please help!

After all the hub bub about the album I found it to be great after my first listen.
Love it.
For once I can pick up an album and feel like im listening to something for the first time.

Agreed. Especially since it is a positive thread.
Does anyone remember laughter?

I shouldn't have posted my comments here in the first place, I apologise for that but do we really need an EU ROCKS! roll-call thread? Has it really reached the point were we need a list for the people who think 'not just some of the tracks, but the entire album' rocks? Do we really need to draw a line in the sand/playground like that? I personally think that's juvenile. And yet there are people on the list who have openly admitted that they don't like certain tracks, or that certain tracks don't work for them in other threads & yet they've added their name to the list...isn't that rather silly?!
It's been like Salem here of late...you have to like
everything the band has ever done & must never
ever be critical of them or else you're not a 'true fan'
It's almost as if some people are going out of their way to prove to themselves, everyone else here & the band (just in case they're reading) that they're the Jacket's number one fan...or at least part of some elite fanbase...the we think EU ROCKS from start to finish list!
There are numerous EU discussion threads, I would far rather discuss the album there than add my name to a list reserved for those who think EU rocks (not just some of the tracks, but the entire album!)
So why did I post here in the first place? My mistake...like I said, I shouldn't have posted here, I regret that but I didn't want to seem rude by ignoring your post Jon. Apologies again.
Seriously, have fun with your list folks!!! :)

agreed
Now we have people getting upset at others for having a good time.
I am starting to think Meg (EC) has the answer. This isn't the same old My Morning Jacket web site for several different reasons. :-/

seriously. this place is my refuge......
i can't lose it!!!
Oh, cut DB some slack. I think he may be slightly disappointed with the new album, and in turn just had an evil urge to call out a certain members' contradictions. :) No biggie. We all get grumpy, and we all usually end up making contradictory statements occasionally.
joy is so fucking juvenile

I created this thread for one reason, and one reason only: I think EU is an incredible album, and I enjoy it from start to finish; every track, every minute, every second. The album rocks!. This list is for those who feel the same way, or close to what I feel. This is not a list to draw a line in the sand, and I am sorry you feel that kind of pressure. This is simply a list, if you want to be on great, if you don't that's great as well. I think it is juvenile to try to affect something positive with something negative.
Quotejoy is so fucking juvenile
I feel sorry for you blunt. I am not sure you get it yet. There is so much bullshit in this world, so many things and people that don't even matter, but when you find something or someone that does matter, and possibly brings you joy (real joy not some illusion) you should hang on to it. The last thing you should ever do is take joy away from someone else. That's juvenile.
I don't mean to hog this thread, but I got to get this out....
I have a family (my wife and my daughter), I also work all day, and because of this I have been listening to EU just through headphones at work or during by bus ride. This morning, being Saturday, I was able to crank EU on my soundsystem at home (volume at 11), and holly shit! I can't believe the sounds...it is right in my face thrusting all over it!

true that!
i just got my vinyl copy in the mail....got it on the sound system now, and it sounds very FAT!!
Tommy is dominating. in a good way. and i'm loving it!
I love bands that continue to change, and MMJ has certainly done it with EU. I think it's amazing work, for a bunch of guys in their 20s.
:)
EU does rock. I'm not in love with every song, though there isn't a bad song on the album. Truthfully, there were several songs on Z that I wasn't wild about right away, but after hearing them played live and spending some more time them, they grew on me. Evil Urges is continuting to show me new things and keep me excited. Good albums do that.
I've got no problem with love-fest fanboy (and girl!) threads, and wanting to keep them positive (and I know I'm semi crashing the party here). I can also understand why people are dissapointed in Evil Urges, and I think it's ok to come here, to this band sponsored forum, and discuss dissapointments. Everyone that posts on here is a fan - nobody is encouraging others to abandon the band and stop supporting them, and the fact that people feel motivated enough to create an account and brave a flogging by posting a relatively negative opinion means that while they're not thrilled about EU, they've had a strong connection to past work and want to continue to support the band. Rudeness is unacceptable (from both sides, and I've been guilty of this), but well thought out criticisms are a vital part of this forum, in my opinion.
Some people want the old sound, and nothing but. We might never get a new, reverb heavy, roots-style, studio album like that again, and you don't have to like that. Personally, I love the new sounds they've given us with EU, and am looking forward to letting them grow on me.
And damn are these songs catchy! If today's pop music consumers knew what was good for them, this album would be HUGE!
"Eeeevil urges baby, they're part of the human way..."
:)
ehhh....Abby Road is better....
BUT EU STILL ROCKS!!!!!!
