I know we have talked about this in the past several times but I don't even know where to begin to do a search for it, so you are getting a new Thread.
I think we all agree to some extent that the albums have a certain "feel" to them based on seasons or time of day. I don't think there was necessarily any intent on the part of the band. Maybe, maybe not. But this is how it goes in my mind.....
Album > Season > Time of Day
Tennessee Fire > Winter > Late Night
At Dawn > Spring > Dawn/Morning
It Still Moves > Summer > Afternoon
Z > Fall > Dusk/Early Evening
As you can see they follow in order of album release and season and time very nicely. Obviously IMO. Please feel free to comment if you think otherwise. (Part of the fun.)
So now that you have had some time to fully ingest Evil Urges, do you think it has a season/Time? Next in line is back to Winter/Late Night? I'm not sure yet, but I hope it's Winter because that means it's going to sound even better in a couple months! And people's heads might literally explode on New Years Eve. Messy? Yes. But fun.
Interesting analysis. Maybe EU doesn't fit into one season/time of day? Ever since I first listened to EU I've thought of the album as having 4 distinct parts to it based on the song order:
1) Evil Urges > Touch Me I'm Going To Scream Pt.1 > Highly Suspicious
2) I'm Amazed > Thank You Too > Sec Walkin
3) Two Halves > Librarian > Look at You
4) Aluminum Park > Remnants > Smokin From Shootin > Touch Me I'm Going To Scream Pt.2
Each group of songs has a certain feel to it. Whether or not those groups correspond to seasons/times of day, I'm not sure yet.

Interesting. Maybe they summed up the whole year/day in one album. I like it.
Evil Urges>Early Summer>Mid Morning
TTF will always be my winter album
I like At Dawn at dusk. ;)
i defintely agree tennessee fire is a late night album, at dawn is early morning (hence the title), it still moves is the daytime rocker that moves into the night with rollin' back through one in the same...as for z and eu i really dont know where those stand along a time of day...
Individual MMJ albums as well as songs have played poignant roles in different times and aspects of my life. I agree that each album has an overall tone which can easily be represented by a particular season, but for me it gets too specific to comfortably participate. It's more of a 'Chronological Mood' thing.
In re: to the exploding heads on NYE, I'll enjoy some tasty brains... :o

Oh, and about At Dawn being a morning album, I personally never hear crickets outside that early. Just one of the many reasons I associate it with the evening.

Morning = At Dawn
Afternoon = It Still Moves
Evening = Z
Nighttime into Early Morning = Tennessee Fire
Spring = At Dawn
Summer = It Sill Moves
Fall = Z
Winter = Tennessee Fire
I don't think Evil Urges fits as nicely into the discussion but if I were going to assign a time of day / season I would say the sunniest time of day and summer.
EDIT: I noticed mine's exactly the am as BH's. I wanted to make mine without influence before I looked at other peoples. Great minds think alike, BH.
every season is jacket season.
but... i enjoy listening to mmj more in the fall, which is why i am extra-sad that i cannot go to the columbus or chi town shows. :'(
really though... nothing beats listening to the jacket while walking around outside in late october. doesn't matter which album, as it all works for me.

Fall=Z
Winter=Evil Urges
Spring=At Dawn
Summer=It Still Moves
I would put Tennessee Fire as a Spring/Summer album.
