I know this has been a thread before, but whatever
I'm a senior in high school, "senior quotes" are due tomorrow, and I know I want to do an MMJ one!
I was thinking of "the fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need" from Steam Engine, but even though the line means a lot to me, I think it sounds kinda weird out of context
take me out of this dead-end nightmare.
We are the innovators! They are the imitators!
Deep in my heart, that's where the knot comes loose :)
let the foetus rock
...a soldier's death is so much better tan defeat just hangin' around...
maybe, not entirely appropriately, but something always catches me with this one... I'll keep digging. Maybe I shouldn't try and suggest lyrics while I'm knee-deep in one particular song. If I'd waited three minutes, it would have been "I think I'm going to Hell." Actually, it'd be interesting to see the reaction to that one.
"Religion should appeal to the hearts of the young. Who are you? What have you become?" Might present an interesting parting challenge, if you're into that challenge...
Or throw 'em for a loop...
What Madonna said really helped... She said "Boy, you better learn to express yourself..."
Cobra reference couldn't ever hurt anything either, though...
"Covered in chocos, head to toe
Sticky sticky chocos, I want you to know....."
:-?
In my blood there's gasoline
I'm addicted to four like one, two, three
QuoteI'm addicted to four like one, two, three
Not to be an ass at all, but I do believe it's:
"I'm hooked on four like one, two, three"
(we've wrestled long hours some yeas ago on the decoding of this behemoth...i ought to dig that one up for some good memories...)

my mistake dear sir- you are in every way right. I should have made sure of my line before posting so quickly... I hope the rock gods forgive my error and fulfill my dream of giving Jim James a tremendous hug and having a long talk with him
"I'm ready for it now."
Keep your classmates guessing what exactly "it" is.

Haha, no sweat man! That's just one of my favorite lines, too!
If you can find them after a show, I think you'll find the rock gods will deliver the goodies...
I've said it before and I'll say it again:
"the brain melts in the twilight"...
I can't pick just one.....
Take me out of this dead end nightmare, and put me back in a world i can live.
there will bebigotry and there will be open minds.
there will be days of peace you'll never have the time.
as long as you keep a straight face
i will be there when you die.
"all your life is obscene!"
"forget the papers, forget your musical dreams!"
but that's when my knife rises,
their life ends and my life starts again!
Tell me im wrong, tell me im right.
Tell me there's nobody else in the world.
alright I can't do this ;D
there will be a knock on you back door
"Cause anytime's a good time to move on."
It's not the way that you look, but your move that catches my eye.
the fact that my heart's beatin is all the proof you need
people always told me bars are dark and lonely
great thread btw.
thanks!
i'll be back to read more when there is more.

i hope- one day... i mean it would have to be amazing to be friends with these guys. but i suppose- all of us fans are friends with them- in some way.
Thanks for catching my slip up. I heard that song recently- when I heard that line, man my jaw dropped i was just like, "thats so badass!"
... When dark touches your skull baby ...
... if you don't know yourself, how could you ever know me.
But to have and to hold you, yeah that's the way its gotta be... (at first listening i heard "that's the way you are to me" which i think would be just fine as well.)
....you'll be right here forever. we'll go thru this thing together
and on heaven's golden shore we'll lay our heads ....
just from the top of my head.
a kitten on fire, a baby in a blender?
Quotethe fact that my heart's beatin is all the proof you need
oh i really like that one
goddamn those shaky knees
It ain't Evil baby, if it ain't hurtin anybody
However, I'll agree with someone above and say that for a high school senior quote...it's gotta be, "Anytime's a good time to move on!"
there's so many wonderful ones...but "the fact that my heart's beatin' is all the proof you need" nails me every time. god its so good.
Mine is self evident. Nuff said
This is a great thread...There's alot of nuggets of lyrical gold scattered around in their catalogue but one off the top of my head off Evil Urges is:
"When God gave us mirrors/He had no idea..." I love that line.
Oh and the opening to Golden is a classic.."Watching the stretch of road/miles of light explode"
Pick any line from Steam Engine, or this one:
all your days I wish you blindness
from all the evils in the world
I really like that line right now.
soft and warm all the time, make you want it over and over
Well, I know this is more than one line, more than one song even, but these are some of my favorites:
"The time is near,
To come forward with whatever killed your spark.
There's still time, for you,
To change your mind or whatever
Else you do."
"but that's when my knife rises,
their life ends and my life starts again!"
"Campin out all night... slow moves in the light...
Of all the things that you've seen...
Was the motorcycle so warm you sang melody?"
"Wish you blindness from all the evils in the world..."
"Why does my mind blow to bits every time they play that song"
... if you don't know yourself, how could you ever know me.
But to have and to hold you, yeah that's the way its gotta be. < good1
Their lyrical catalogue really has so many great ones
...not as much as the dead but still...
"Its just a really fast risky ride at a fair."
"time i dont think i waste, it just seems to disappear"
it's just a really fast, risky ride at the fair...
something poignant in that one. In all honesty, I think "If It Smashes Down" might be one the most important songs on At Dawn...
Kick ass thread~
Just a few - I agree with many already posted here too. 'specially the Steam Engine quotes:
"The time is near, to come forward with whatever killed your spark"
"Who could see and not believe? The heart that beats the wavelength"
"He'll be the water if you'll be the wine sent down from heaven in this earthly disguise"
"Always startin' over but somehow I always know where to begin"
so for the past im digging a grave so big it could swallow up the sea...
you'll be right here forever, we'll go through these things together and on heavens golden shores we'll lay our heads...
i know theres someone who loves up above that wants to fix you a dream, he wants to sit down and think....he wants to pour you a drink. and you wont feel a thing...
AGAIN Awesome thread
lets see if i can pull some more outa my sleeve after all im listening to them now
"I will sing to you just dont make it last any longer than it has to"
"It wasnt until i woke up that i can hold down a joke a job or a dream then again they are all one in the same"
alright thats all i got idk how many of these are suitable for a yearbook hah but every line of every song is perfecto
Take off those glasses and let down your hair for me.
For anyone wondering, I ended up going with "The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need"
and then "lay low, let the fetus rock" credited to cap'n goodies...

a very good choice. well done- I wish I knew of the jacket when I was a senior in high school :(
I know the soul needs wine and kindness....
you said, evan, is comin over again. and i said, if he does, i'll
kick his head IN.
Sung so beautiful too
"Why is it so soft when the cannons unload on the others?"
and also from they way that he sings
"Abeyaaabummbumm Abeyyaabum bum"
Cause nights tick, by like a long week except when you stop by...
But seein you feels good, and its always understood.
That anything much sweeter would make me DDDDDDDIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sippin the wine you got me, while eyes were rollin back...
the warm things you left behind they still want you here
but only in time you find that all things come back around...
oh i'll never say I knew you
but my heart cant wait
to meet you on the other side...aaahhhhh ahhhhhh uhhhhhhh
i belong to a race of robots, drownin' out my one. anytime your war gets out of hand i'll take it on
There'll be a knock on your back door.
and 1,000s more
"but it's the touch. you need so much
to move around on this green earth
take your money and your drugs" from Steam Engine,
or "As long as you keep a straight face, I will be there when you die"
:)
i'm not gonna read all these posts, so if i'm repeatin someone, then good!
"it's not the way that you look, but your move that catches my eye"
"It's the art of feeling naked in your clothes"
"My mother held me like a motorcycle so warm, we sang melody"
Quote"It's the art of feeling naked in your clothes"

I concur, the art of feeling naked in your clothes....
sheer genius.
hmmm, no mention of one of my favs:
"Don't let your silly dreams, fall in between, the crack of the bed and the wall."
"when will I know I have finally arrived?
so far I've come, so far to go, never ends"
'What Madonna Said Really Helped -
She Said: "Boy - You Better Learn To Express Yourself!"'
QuoteDeep in my heart, that's where the knot comes loose :)
100% agree my fav as well.....

It's so hard to choose, but I really like that one as well. I've never noticed "I'm hooked on four like one, two, three" before, but thumbs up for that one as well. Love the beautiful ones, the silly ones, the empathic ones, the political ones... eh... all of them basically! I love the general positivity, this all-embracing goodness that seems to be in so many of them. Okay... getting off topic here. Anyhow, excellent thread, thanks everyone!

Oh shit, RUNNNNNNN
Not really one line, but here is one that always gives me the chills:
Who makes my decisions?
Who reads all your thoughts?
What makes us how we are?
Faith can't prove what science won't resolve
Kumbaya my Lord
C'mon, row your boat ashore
The river's long, it is cold
It chills the body but not the soul, oh

Yes! Me too, definitely a chills moment!
Not really one line either (It's the whole song). Short on lyrics, but they mean a lot to me.
Honest Man
Try to walk this earth an honest man
But evil waves at me its ugly hand
The radar watches me from above
Shouting down
I hope you make it on this earth
Sometimes this world will leave you, Lord
Kickin' and a screamin', wonderin'
If you'll see the next day through
But as for me I do believe
That good luck comes from tryin'
So until I get mine
I'll work me the whole day through
I guess the one line that gets me is, "Try to walk this earth an honest man"
This one always gave me hope:
'The time is near to come forward with whatever killed your spark...'
This one always gets me fired up:
'I'm drinkin' cold, cold lightning with the bugs in my hair...'
As long as you keep a straight face, I will be there when you die.
I have many MMJ lyrical loves but the lyrics to Circuital are sheer perfection. Yes. The entire song.

I was reading through the thread getting ready to post this!
Some seriously deep words here.
To prove its true, I'll tell everyone.
Any line from Steam Engine....Goddamn those shaky knees is my favorite. That song just means a lot to me.
I'm going where there ain't no fear
I'm going where the spirit is near
I'm going where the livin' is easy
And the people are kind, a new state of mind
None of this is physical, at least not to me
