does anybody know if they still play that at shows anymore? or have they recently? I heard the live version on bonnaroo 04 and it was pretty amazing sounding live.
I don't believe they do, but who knows maybe they will mix it in some time in the near future.
The bonnaroo 04 version is killer though followed by At Dawn and closing the set with Steam Engine, what an incredible show that must have been.
NYE 2006/2007 was the last time I remember them playing it.
I would post a link to Archive, but that night appears to be gone?
.....my friend heard them do it in Boston in 2006....I was jealous......I want to hear that song so bad live.....and is it possible for me to play the guiro part after the big guitar jam????.....please???....
I got to hear it in '07 at the Orange Peel. http://www.mymorningjacket.com/archive/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=663&Itemid=26

I was there too. I also saw it 2 nights before in Athens at the 40 Watt.
langderado it was played - they should add it to their sets again! It's mad funky!
also New Years eve at the Fillmore. I think it was in the third night on NYE.
I fuckin love that song.

love the echo in Cobra
Nice...a Cobra appreciation thread of sorts. I've seen it quite a few times and it's always welcome. Damn, these guys are good!
The 'Roo '04 set was absolutely rad. "Drinking cold, cold lightening" as the thunder and lightening was crackin'. My, oh my. Best show of my life.
"Cobra comes up" ::)
rocked it out at langerado 07..."how do you live without a lovers touch?"
i was lucky enough to be at the roo 04 show, which in turn turned me on to Cobra. it's def one of my favorite songs cuz it changes so much.
check this out...i ran into Carl Broemel at Essex in NYC during brunch the day after the Radio City Music Hall show. after talkin to him a bit about the show and about the upcoming nashville to kentucky shows (and getting a quick snapshot with him) i had to request Cobra for the Louisville show. he was fairly reluctant and was kinda passive about it, but said he'd see what he could do.
then, during the 2nd set at Looeyville, it came....

I've never been lucky enough to hear cobra live...but in my imagination everyone breaks out the dance moves when they decide to play it. It seems like a great song to dance to.
I listen to this before I go to work alot, and than I always feel bad that I can't finish it before I get there, as my commute is only about 10 min.

What is "fetus rock"?
They just played it in Louisville.
crazylove said it was her favorite from Saturday night. It was my second live viewing and when it started my whole section just erupted!
I feel blessed to have heard cobra in austin!
We got it in Atlanta!
And may I say I was damned impressed. I've never heard it live, being that I've only listened to the 25 minute version from Chocolate & Ice.
I was completely blown away by the UBER hard rock break down.
Thank you MMJ for yet another sweet suprise :D
they played it in dallas as well
Hopefully they break Cobra out in Philly. Great tune.
Saw them play it in Dallas..It was a very groovy song live.....still waiting for the live recording of it
I'm listening to their Louisville version, and it umm is having a very postive reaction on me.... :o
Holy Hand Grenades that was bad ass to the Nth degree.
I just heard it live at the Myrtle Beach show. I loved it. Jim kind of dances with his guitar a little while he sings it. It seems like it would fit right into Evil Urges.

My brain still aches from the Cobra last night in DC, can't process this much pleasure....
Yeah ! I saw it in Denver., FULL ON It was amazing...rare and oh so good. what rare treat for everyone at red rocks....
D :Didn't they play part of it at the Fillmore on NYE 2006/2007? Epic show, but my memory is hazy (still!)
We got lucky enough to see it at the Portland show, epic. We showed up early and played a round of golf at the Edgefield, which was an awesome way to spend a day before the show. Patrick and Carl were a few groups behind us and we said hi after the round. As they were being carted off to go to the sound check I asked them if there was any chance for Cobra later that night.
Carl: "maybe"
Patrick:"why you want it?"
Us:"hell yeah"
They came out after the first break and busted it out, stoked. It is one of their best.
