Title: MMJ and Orchestras.  How does it happen?
Post by: Love Dogg on Jan 25, 2009, 10:57 PM
The Jacket have played several times with orchestras throughout.  My questions lay in how it all comes together.  Does Jim write the strings and orchestration?  Does the conductor write them?  If so, would it happen to be a fan who already did it and hooked up with the band because of it...or did Jim request it?  It's fascinating to me really.  Thanks.

When they played the Boston Pops Concert, Keith Lockhart, the conductor, handed Jim all his arrangements to use for these purposes.  You can tell Jim was excited at the time and he's definitely putting them to use.

That great.  I have been watching bonnaroo 04 lately and I keep getting to the part where Trey conducts the orchestra.  I it is all fascinating to me.  I used to play in band in elementary and middle school.  It all made perfect sense then.  But it is cool to see a modern rock sock turned into full orchestrated magic!
