Pearl Jam's covered it, so that's pretty awesome. Jim's voice would sound great on it though.
That is one of my favorite songs. A cover would make me faint of happiness. I can only imagine how great it would sound!
I remember in an interview that Jim asked for "Harvest" after watching Neil Young play on some late show, and his mom brought home "Harvest Moon" instead. Both albums are great, and if you appreciate the country roots of this band, "Harvest" and "Harvest Moon" will bring some goodness into your lifes. "Dreamin Man" and "Natural Beauty" are also good ones from HM that I would love to see covered one day.
i'd love to hear the guys take on "unknown legend". one of my favourite neil songs.

You'll notice they've never covered Neil. Maybe there were too many NY comparisons in the early days, but he has said he's a fan. How couldn't he be?

With their recent dabblings in old funk, perhaps they could take a stab at some old Sly and the Family Stone. "You Can Make It If You Try" or "(I Want to Take You) Higher."
The vocal exchanges would be great between Jim and Carl on these songs, giving Carl some lead lines. Can't you just see Bo shouting "All Together Now!" in "You Can Make It..." a la Rose Stone?

In the meantime, why not hunt down Elliott Smith's cover? Sorry I don't have a link or a file to share, but if you're net-savvy, it shouldn't be hard to find, and it's good & legal, too. "Harvest Moon" is a great song.

I've been lucky enough to see PJ cover this live a few times and the one in Philly '05 with SK was by far my fav.
