My Morning Jacket have announced an exclusive Record Store Day 2009 release, the brand new 'Celebración De La Ciudad Natal.'
The Double 10" vinyl LP (with CD insert) will be released ON Record Store Day and was recorded live in Louisville at Ear X-tacy, and Waterfront Park. 'Celebración De La Ciudad Natal' includes classic tracks and selections from the band's most recent Grammy nominated album 'Evil Urges.'
I haven't heard of it, and I am so glad you put that out. Thanks for the heads up!

Right at the X! Perfect!
"Celebración De La Ciudad Natal"
translation?
from dictionary.com:
Celebration Of the Natal City
So no CD, just vinyl? :(
QuoteSo no CD, just vinyl? :(
It said there'll be a CD insert.
i think the translation would be closer to Celebration Of the City Of Our Birth 8-)

Birth City Celebration rings a little more naturally.
This is incredibly exciting. Thanks for the heads up!
Love the artwork - looks like the Waterfront Park poster modified with some Derby horses. Nice!
This is amazing. I cannot freaking wait. Definitely will be the first vinyl that I have from a show I attended. Hells yes!
Anyone and everyone, please update this if you find any extra info. I know I'll be lookin'. Would love to see a track list. If the Waterfront Dondante is on there, I will cream my pants.

good call Tom, i think if we get some official songs on the label, we'll be in for future treats as well!
So my brain is not working well tonight (overloaded on stress recently...or should I say overdosed on stress). Anyway, I have a stupid question:
Released on record store day, I hope this means you can buy it after that day (stupid question, but I would love clarification). I will be in Hawaii on 4/18 (I know, poor me). But I need to know if I need to arrange for a friend to pick this up for me or if I can pick up a copy when I get back the next week.
Thanks!

wizz, you might want someone to pick it up for you - there's a chance it'll still be available when you get back, but Record Store Day releases are usually pretty limited.
Or maybe call the store and ask if they can hold one for you?
Will this be available at any record store such as FYE?

If this blog is right then it is a Record Store Day exclusive release. Meaning it will only be available a participating store.

Does anybody know when this will actually be released?
4.18.09 8-)

The whole idea behind Record Store Day is to support your local independent record store. Chain stores need not apply.
Can it be ordered online from an indie online shop??? My 'nearest' participating store is pretty damn far away. If not it looks like I'll be missing out on this one :(

Contact a local record store on the site. I know the one in Louisville will hold stuff for a couple days if you ask. All you got to do is try right? You'll get a copy. I have hope ;)

Ear Xtacy has an online store. You could call and ask. Although it's pretty early in the game at this point and they may not know what you're talking about.
Does anyone know if all these participating stores will be carrying it??

It might be. I called my local indie store (Gallery of Sound), who does participate in record store day, and it is not in their system yet. THe guy said to check back in a couple of weeks.
woot.com RIGHT NOW has a record player for sale if anyone is in need
The cover reminds me of Jane's Addiction artwork.
Here is some more exclusive stuff that will be available that day.

Sweet, I can't wait for that Wilco dvd.
And whaaaa?
QuoteMusic Monitor Network president Michael Kurtz says Record Store Day exclusives include a double 10-inch pressing of My Morning Jacket's "Evil Urges," a series of Radiohead EPs on vinyl and reusable Record Store Day shopping bags produced by WEA.
I just found out that my local record store, which I can walk to in fifteen minutes, is participating. I'm having a party inside my brain.

Yeah, I'm thinking they just got the info wrong on that.
I wonder, yeah.
If it's true, I would be compelled to buy it due to my severe Jacketosis.
Ha, I just may not come out of the record store alive that day. I'd like the Sonic Youth/Beck 7" as well.
And the Pavement show! Giggity.
Here is the tracklist if you want to see it. I forgot that a 10" only has 15 minutes per side. I'm assuming #7 will have it's own side.

Guess so... Nice find!
Wow. If I could have picked two standout tracks from the Waterfront show, it'd be Where to Begin and Phone Went West. So glad they made the cut! I think I might cry.

...and I believe the most far out Dondante ever...I remember thinking, "What the fuck is happening right now?" And Pink Floyd comes to mind as well.
I'm glad to get the Where To Begin as well. We may not hear that one for a while.
I just listened to that show again. Yep, that Dondante was ridic. So awesome to have it on a pretty black slab o' vinyl... :D

Thanks for this info BH. I was one of the fortunate to catch both shows, and I can't wait to relive them. The Ear X-Tacy was my first show so I'm glad they released something from it.

Just a heads up for you kids, there are also some heavy rumors out there that Wilco will be re-releasing "A.M.", "Being There" and wait for it.... "Summerteeth" on 180g vinyl for Record Store Day :o
Yeah, that's what Grimey's says (love Grimey's!):
"Warner Brothers has already announced a complete slate of Wilco reissues from A.M. through Summerteeth, all 180-gram RTI pressings with CD included (just like Sky Blue Sky, Ghost Is Born and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot)"

7. Dondante
I'm sure the CD insert is a digital copy just like almost every other vinyl release these days. If there's was something different on it then there would be a track list for the CD (and probably a separate release).
but wouldn't it be cool if it was a couple CDs with both shows in their entirety on them?
Maybe I'm a little bitter I chose to be front row for earXtacy and didn't set up my mics for a decent recording...
"Are you going to be this tall for the whole show?" ::)

In the Ear X-tacy holiday gift guide, the picture in the front was eye level with the head on Jim's guitar...I knew that was a Kory Johnson photo....fuckin' tall, bro... 8-)
