Title: sho nuff music for romancing
Post by: el_chode on Feb 18, 2009, 11:51 AM
Ok, so let's all discuss the songs that Jim has clearly written for Nicole Atkins to express his undying love.

Or just how Steam Engine clearly shows how much he loves Nicole Atkins even before he knew her.

Either way, what are the best romantic/loving songs, as opposed to the sadder songs about loves lost.

Feel free to expand on the notion of music transcending pure human emotion

chode knows i love him but he's skating on thin ice w/all those NA comments!!

It makes no difference is one of the saddest love songs ever, along w/D Gray's 'say hello wave goodbye' (although that is only sad in the sense that the couple were never realy in love) along w/every spiritualized song ever written.

Either way, I'm talking MMJ love songs specifically.

Are you serious? If so, this is the worst post I have ever seen on any message board ever.

This is even worse than the thread about how Look at You was written about Obama.  :D

I find Mahgeetah kinda romantic:
So... now are you ready to go, my lady?
I been waitin on the boat here, I been waitin so long...

Can anyone tell me what Mahgeetah is actually about?

Yeah ever since someone said my guitar i always make that connection.

Mahgeetah and Rollin back are also romantic in their own ways.

From Z

Laylow and KNOT are the only two i can see being romantic

also Old Sept. Blues has a romantic touch

in an odd way, I think Phone Went West is romantic.  Maybe its campy, but when Jim says "tell me I'm wrong, tell me I'm right, tell me there's nobody else in the world" that to me is pretty dead on.  Plus there's that whole "knock on your back door" thing.   ;)

As i was reading up to this post, all I kept thinking was Phone went West.  "Tell me I'm wrong, tell me I'm right, tell me there's nobody else in the world" is the epitome of love and what all human's want, whether they know it or not. Also, when I heard "they'll be a lock on your back door" at NYE, I told my friend it was about how his woman wouldn't let him do her from behind ahahahahaaa ;)

I'm right there with you, but I think one could interpretate most of JJ's lyrics as romantic.
Still, the first time I heard Phone Went West, it sounded like a love song

when I first heard this song, and mind you I didn't actually think these were the correct lyrics, but what I heard was "I been waitin on your booty, I been waitin so long..."   8-)

That might be the reason, or maybe not.
Don't know if mentioned before, but "Evelyn is not real"!

I think Into the Woods should be included.

A soft delicate song about kittens on fire and good shower heads.
