That would NOT be my choice for Wilco.

YHF at least, if not Sky Blue Sky,

Still I like that ISM beat out Z

Oh come on. Fleet Foxes at #10?!?! It's a great album, but 10th this past decade. FAIL.

It used to be my least favorite, until Wilco (the Album) came out.

In taking personal opinions out of it, and trying to be somewhat objective as to just well-done albums, I think YHF deserves it, mainly because I think that album broke the floodgates for indie rock as this subtle mainstream market this decade. It was a big finger to the labels, and I think in the wake of it the labels then saw the market for bands like Death Cab, Decemberists, Modest Mouse, etc.

Same with ISM, though I think At Dawn is my personal favorite, it is more like a giant meteor made out of delicate, resiliant silicon, while ISM is this dense chunk of iron falling from the sky, punching the earth in its motherloving face and leaving a huge burning crater. At Dawn hits you, perhaps over a bigger area, but you don't realize it right away. Z is just a beautiful comet, streaking across the sky causing mystics to speculate as to what it means, and EU is Sputnik's re-entry.

Are those Dylan albums that good?

Might have to get them...I think theyre dirt cheap on Amazon.

And I second the Wilco and FF complaints, as I throw The Strokes in there as well

I have modern times and remember liking it. It wasn't anything monumental though. I played it at work a lot because it kept the other people around me from putting on top 40 classic rock radio, which I cannot stand.

QuoteFor all the Wilco fans  :)

138) Sky Blue Sky
35) Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

I agree with that ranking.  I like A Ghost Is Born better than either of those.

Both Modern Times and Love & Theft are really, really good.

And I think the Fleet Foxes record is deserving.  It was a unique record that came out at the right time.

I've never understood the appeal of the Strokes.

As cliche as it is to say, I honestly think that there should be no best of the decade lists (for this decade) that Kid A is not #1. Also, I think A GHost is Born might be my favorite Wilco album. Also, THe Strokes are a pretty kickass band.

Quote22) Blur - Think Tank
23) Beth Gibbons & Rustin Man - Out Of Season
Think Tank is a really odd choice. Not Blur's best effort. I didn think it was that good of an album actually. Both of the Gorillaz albums are much better.

Beth's on the other hand is a fantastic album. It will haunt you.

Oh, and the Strokes debut album is stellar. The other 2 sucked. If it's in the top 10 Fad albums, then Amy Winehouse's surely will be #1. I just do not get the appeal.

Yes, it's good to see THS getting some respect.

In your honor, I drove home to this last night.

from beginning to end, beautiful...especially when it picks up w/Rolling People then ends w/Velvet Morning. I still need to get the Haigh Hall performance on DVD, i have it on VHS. his lyrics defined the late 90s for me. they don't get better than this, (apart from bob dylan i guess)

And now I'm trying to tell you
About my life
And my tongue is twisted
And more dead than alive
And my feelings
They've always been betrayed
And I was born a little damaged man
And look what they made

I said, don't you find
That it's lonely
The corridor
You walk there alone
And life is a game
You've tried
And life is a game
You're tired

i feel like by a certain point, we're ALL damaged in some way. hmmm

I have a good reason for that. It was awesome when you first heard about it, widely praised and anticipated, then there was some concern, it came in fast, loud, and pretty hard, but eventually gets stashed away behind some of the cooler experiments.

QuoteGet to the important stuff, where is Urban Hymns on that thing?!
Played this for Trent for the first time today. I've been a bad Dad, I didn't load this on his computer. He loved it, especially Bittersweet and Rolling.

Judging by how many bands that are in MMJ's "stratosphere" have multiple albums on that list, Im very surprised Z didnt make the list.

Also surprised that the Raconteurs' debut beat every Stripes album besides WBC's and Elephant. I think every Stripes album is easily better than Broken Boy Soldiers. And I like Consolers of the Lonely much more than BBS. COTL is 114 and BBS is 37?! I dont get that.

Also surprised Return to Cookie Mountain was nowhere to be found in the 150.

Nice to see the Felice Bros almost crack the Top 100

Agree on the KoL sentiments. OBTN aint bad, but not near as good as their first 3. I wouldnt argue all 3 of those being in the Top 50.

...and they aint got no love for hip hop  >:(

Fishscale is in there but yeah, they're hardly 'respresenting' are they?

I was thinking the same thing about Z...

& The Dirty South but no Decoration Day?!! That's just plain stupid.

Wait, The Go! Team's Thunder, Lightning, Strike is not on here. That's a glaring ommission.
